Copenhagen Marathon 2012
Sunday, May 20, 2012 9:02:24 PM
Today was the day where the annual Copenhagen Marathon took place. It has grown a bit since the first time in 1980, where it had only 995 competitors. This year a little more than 12,000 runners joined this big event, and ran 42.195 km through the streets of Copenhagen.
I took a few pictures of it, and will share some of them here, so you can get an impression of it.
I bet you've never seen a marathon runner with no legs before!
The audience was ready to cheer. Claudia had her own little cheering crowd. The top sign says: "You can do it!"
Some of the runners ran in groups. The balloons have a number on it: 3:20. That means that you can expect to finish the marathon after 3 hours and 20 minutes if you run as fast as this group. There were groups with balloons for every 20 minutes.
A marathon isn't a fashion show, that's for sure. But this guy in hotpants made me giggle!
I was called "such a girl" because I accidentally snapped a pic of a guy without a shirt on. Jeez, it wasn't even on purpose!
I mean it. It really was an accident!
Okay guys, let's get the shirts back on, shall we?
We stood around the 37 km mark, so people were beginning to show signs of being tired.
And I mean, very tired!
And then, all of a sudden Elvis showed up. He didn't look the least dead to me!
This guy's nose had dropped to his chin. How weird is that?!
Just grit your teeth and keep running. Only 5 more kilometres to go!
This is the last pic for today. The sun was shining so people were sweating a lot.
Fastest guy was Martin Parkhøi from Denmark who got the time 02:24:49
Fastest girl was Barbara Sanchez from Ireland who got the time 2:41:18.

I took a few pics myself.....

...the calm before the storm...the relaxed scene as it was before the first runner got anywhere near
http://files.myopera.com/FlaRin/marathon2012/marathon3.jpg -
...the bridge we were located at...quite a nice view, I thought

...maybe this guy wasn't Pussy Cat's cup of tea - or maybe the taped nipples are a bit of a turn-off? (I think we need to know, for future reference...)

...somebody was having a very nice time...

...and on and on they ran, approximately into the sunset
It was a very colourful (and noisy) event, a lot of fun - most enjoyable

And just for the record: No tapes on anybody's nipples!
@ Star ~ What do you expect - he ran a marathon after all!
@ Kimmie ~ People just don't look in the mirror before they leave home!

Hey - is Opera screwing up?? There's no notifications of new comments (even though the above are new comments), no new posts (even though I believe Pussy Cat has made at least one new post since this one about the Marathon)...???

Plus I actually commented twice on this post, and only one comment showed up.
It ain't fun playing like that!

\\edit : the Opera thing - there's a DDoS as I write, and I think some stuff has just been lost - we've both posted stuff that's just disappeared over the last 24 hrs or so....but...our good friend Robertj says if you 'hard refresh' by pressing the refresh button twice (on my laptop that's F5), you can catch up. Seems to kinda work for me, but doesn't bring back that disappeared post you made, and I have disappeared comments that I've assumed are just gone for good

I didn't even see the dog on the bicycle.

I believe you were deeply focused on the half naked and annoyingly fit men parading in front of you, at the time

Life is generally weird, often cruel, but sometimes there are moments that are sweet and have a meaning and value beyond the mere words used to explain them
OK - I'm done
