My cat surely regards the vacuum thingy as some kind of monster. When it's on, she hurries off to another room. She's not generally scared, she's mostly cat-cool like all cats are, but the vacuum cleaner is her personal Chtulhu, that's for sure. When it's off, she sneaks closer, and when she's sure it's not alive, she'll climb it and sit on it like a dragon slayer. This is the same cat that will chase off tom-cats twice her size by just growling - she growls like a full-grown lioness, this one.

My Brasilian girlfriend tells me that spiders taste "minty". I have not chosen to verify that.

The only cat I've known that didn't think so was my all-white, deaf cat. He couldn't hear it so he didn't fear it ... he liked being vacuumed, as a matter of fact.

My mom's cat sleeps under the lawnmower. I hope they look under there before they decide to turn the thing on.

I knew a girl from Louisville whose family always kept a bottle of chloroform in the garage because on cold nights, cats and kittens would climb onto the warm car engines and go to sleep. They'd get pretty chewed up when the car was started in the morning, and have to be put out of their misery.
I never could figure out why they didn't just look under the hood before starting the car.

At least it would be cheaper than the chloroform..

The smell of block-cooked cat must have made subsequent car trips an interesting experience...

idea Their surname wasn't McDonald, was it??

I have had block cooked sausages, there is a handy little enclosed bit behind the cylinders on 60-70's triumph motorcycles, ideal place to put sausages wrapped in tinfoil and a good feed when you get there
