Kitty's Corner

A tour round the DVD-store

,

My regular readers know that I love watching movies. I put reviews here on my blog - but almost only of the movies I've watched in the cinema. I do watch a lot of movies on DVD though.

So - it's been a while since I bought a DVD last, and I wanted to give myself a little gift. :D I went to a big DVD store, which is the one that holds the most interesting movies. It's a damn big store, they sell DVDs (obviously), CDs, computer games, games for consoles of all kinds, computers, televisions, cameras... you name it...

Usually you have to search for the employees if you've got questions. I didn't have any questions - I didn't really know what I was looking for, so I just browsed around, getting an impression of what they had, and checked if anything was interesting enough to buy it.

Ha, then I suddenly saw something. Two different movies, both starring Brad Pitt, namely "7 years in Tibet" from 1997 and "A River Runs Through It" from 1992. They were standing right next to each other - take a look:

Isn't it funny that they use so similar photos on the front page? :D I mean, even the bloody hat is the same!

Anyway - after having taken the photo, a sales man approached me. I quickly hid my camera in my pocket, not sure if it is allowed to take photos in there. He asked me if he could help me, and I said no, and that I was just looking for a movie (idiotic answer, but what the hell  ). He ended up asking me what kind of movies I prefer and showed me around in the big store, telling me all about where all the various types of movies were placed, and after having tried all genres ("what about a romantic comedy?"...) he left me by the action movies.

I picked two - and went to the counter to pay them. Then he rushed over to check which movies I had chosen; The Italian Job and Requiem for a Dream. He approved of my choices, telling what he liked the movies for, chatted a bit while his colleague at the counter patiently waited for me to pay. Then he wished me a great day, and I left, smiling.

That store hires such entertaining staff!

Those kinds of shopping trips are lots of fun.

Kitty 3. November 2009, 05:57

Yes, I really enjoyed myself, despite the fact that it was hosing down with rain and I felt like a pretty drowned kitty.

Carol 3. November 2009, 06:04

 Left you when you asked about Romantic Comedy. :D

Kitty 3. November 2009, 06:13

It was more like the other way around, really. :D

Carol 3. November 2009, 06:13

Oh :D

Gavin Sheedy 3. November 2009, 07:41

Requiem for a Dream is great, it should be a part of school curriculum.

Was it the new or the old Italian Job? The old one was great.

Kitty 3. November 2009, 08:31

I didn't know there were two versions of The Italian Job. The one I bought is from... ummmm .... *checks* ... 2003. It's probably the new one then.

I'll see the Requiem for a Dream soon-ish.

Gavin Sheedy 3. November 2009, 08:46

The new one, the old one is (pulls out Google and shakes it off) from 1969. The new one is okay. Not at all the same story.

Don't watch it when you're feeling down. :psmurf:

Kitty 3. November 2009, 09:11

I think the new one was okay entertainment.

I'll be sure to have an upday when I watch the other one then. :D

r♡se 3. November 2009, 09:13

 Looks like exactly the same picture!

Kitty 3. November 2009, 09:14

I didn't believe my eyes when I saw it!

The Dark Furie 3. November 2009, 10:24

Requiem is on my list but I can never find it in a watchable state. Sounds to me like you pulled a human, kitten.

Kimmie 3. November 2009, 10:39

That photo is funny - they are exactly the same, expression and all

The Dark Furie 3. November 2009, 10:45

Brad Pitt, one trick actor? Who said that? :left:

Martin K 3. November 2009, 11:14

I like shopping in the same shops, because eventually the staff will understand that you are a regular. Also, I am old enough to automatically get respect from most staff, since they are almost always ten or even twenty years younger than me, and I have that look, you know, that makes people think I am of some importance, which of course is an illusion since I am absolutely insignificant. However, it is fairly easy for me to get good costumer service.

Kitty 3. November 2009, 14:21

@ Mik ~ I hadn't heard of Requiem before, but it looks good, and from what you guys say it's definitely watch-worthy. Cool!

@ Kimmie ~ Haha yeah, I double checked to see if it is the same photo, but it's not. There's a little bit difference with his hair, and the hat too, but that's all. :D

@ Lion ~ I must learn to look important some day. :D
Anyway - it was funny because I didn't even want costumer service that day, but I surely got it anyway.

hahahahaha great observation! I guess a good pose shouldn't change!

darn it! it's a good pose!

off topic:
and so is this that shouldn't be ignored in future covers... sorry I couldn;t resist ...

r♡se 3. November 2009, 22:04

You know... I think it's exactly the same picture, but one of them has been photoshopped :sherlock:

Mina 4. November 2009, 01:56

hehe.. I'm imagining you nodding and smiling as he shows you the whole dang store, meanwhile the weight of your guilty camera is weighing heavily in your pocket. *giggles*

Ahem, I think he was flirting with the cute customer

Kitty 4. November 2009, 05:30

@ Angeliki ~ Just keep on being off topic, it's quite allright!
Perhaps we should demand that all his future covers holds at least something similar to the pic you posted.

@ Rose ~ You could be right about that. :sherlock:
But why? I mean... one still photo doesn't cost much compare to how much it costs to make an entire movie!

@ Minnie ~ You're so right, that camera felt as if it would burn a hole in my pocket. *giggles*
And what he did sure as hell felt like flirting!

But it's an old movie, and how many copies can they expect to sell in Denmark?

r♡se 4. November 2009, 07:46

I think perhaps the PR people thought that was one magnicifent shot, which they tried to recreate but it didn't turn out well at all since he didn't have the same looks anymore as it was several years later and why change a winning concept.
Or something... p:

Kitty 4. November 2009, 09:34

@ Gavin ~ Good point. I don't know how big a market such a movie has here, but 40 DKK is pretty cheap for a movie.

@ Rose ~ Haha yeah, "or something"! :D If I had too much time on my hands it could be fun to find pics of him from 92 and 97 to see if he hasn't changed more than the moviepics suggest.

Gavin Sheedy 4. November 2009, 09:53

D.V.D.s were about the only thing that were cheaper in Copenhagen!

r♡se 4. November 2009, 10:23

I think he has. I remember seeing a picture of how he spookily morphed into the same look as his girlfriends. There's bound to piccies out there - I'll have a look later :D.

Kitty 4. November 2009, 10:40

This should be from 1992:

and 1997:

Hmm... I think you're right about it's the same pic at the two movies...

"the people demand change!" :hat:

darn it he is looking good from the back!

Kitty 4. November 2009, 20:17

@ Angeliki ~ I do have to agree, he has a nice body.

@ Rose ~ Darn, you're right, he does transform! :yikes:

Gosh I see now that he is a chameleon! (still looking good...)

Usually very beautiful people do not feel pretty... I wonder if his "male ego" makes him an exception..

Martin K 4. November 2009, 20:41

He just likes to look like the woman he's with. Look at those three photographs again. Jeniffer = the trashy just-out-of-bed look, Gwyneth = blond Hitler Jugend look, Angelina = dark cool look. I think this says something about him. I think perhaps I like it...

Mina 4. November 2009, 21:14

:D Big big smile and two baskets of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for being my favorite-ist feline in the world.

*giggles* Too bad that guy didn't know about your weakness for cookies. This could have been a waaaay spicier post. P:

Gavin Sheedy 5. November 2009, 02:10

Brad's an accessory!

Martin K 5. November 2009, 02:26

Like most husbands...

(Can't believe I just said that!)

Kitty 5. November 2009, 07:02

*spurts tea over keyboard* :lol::lol:

Oh dear heaven, that's hilarious!

~

@ Minnie ~ He sure as hell would have took me by surprise if he had asked me out for cookies! :D

Mina 5. November 2009, 07:49

Tea and computer keyboards never mix... *helps mop up the mess* You should know by now your friends are too witty for that kind of reckless behavior.

Yeah. *shrugs* Not a conventional date, sure, but I guarantee it'd be one you never ever would forget. :o:

David Scott Aubrey 5. November 2009, 21:47

Ahh, Requiem ... might I recommend you don't eat while watching it?

Gavin Sheedy 5. November 2009, 21:56

And definitely no hash.

David Scott Aubrey 5. November 2009, 21:58

Martin K 5. November 2009, 22:18

What is a 'conventional date'?

I'm asking, because I don't think I have ever had a date which in retrospect qualifies as 'conventional'. I've been on odd dates, strange dates even disasterous and down right uncanny dates, but never a conventional date.

On the other hand, conventional is usually boring...

Mina 6. November 2009, 01:57

Martin, *guesses* dinner at a halfway decent restaurant a movie?

And true enuf. Conventional is usually boring.

Kitty 6. November 2009, 05:20

@ David & Gavin ~ No food, no hash ... do I need a bucket to vomit in nearby? I think I'm going to watch it tonight, so... it's kinda nice to know. :left:

@ Lion & Minnie ~ I recognize all the mentioned dates! But I still miss to go on a cookie date! :D

David Scott Aubrey 6. November 2009, 06:45

Umm ... if you're squeamish, there might be a scene in there (tries not to be a spoiler) towards the end ...

David Scott Aubrey 6. November 2009, 06:50

As anyone who visits her page knows, Dee is a bit of a fan of Jared Leto. Can we expect a review?

Kitty 6. November 2009, 07:14

A review of the Requiem movie?

David Scott Aubrey 6. November 2009, 07:19

Yep.

Kitty 6. November 2009, 09:58

Okay - I will then.

Suntana 6. November 2009, 15:53

C'mon! It's not the same picture. The one on the right has more hair on his forehead. :D

Zaph, I think it was probably the Big Spikes on your belt that attracted him to you. He had a thing for Spike-belted women.

Kitty 6. November 2009, 17:20

Hahaha, I didn't even wear that belt! Perhaps it was the drowned kitty look that got him interested. :D

Suntana 6. November 2009, 18:19

Why yes, of course ... the wet, disheveled fur would also do it.
