Cakes II - More phone orders

, ,

Cake, cake, cake. It's not a secret that I like cake. :yum:

When it's my birthday and I invite friends and family over, I usually bake a cake. :yum again:

Anyway - if you aren't able to bake a cake yourself, you can always order one over the phone, and have it delivered. But make sure that you are clear about the text on the cake, or else...

Here's a few examples of failed messages on cakes:

"Congrats Taylor on one, nothing on 2nd!"

"Congratulations Heidi ("in Spanish"!)"

"Halfway 2 30"

"Best wishes Suzanne
Under neat that
We will miss you"

And last, but certainly not least:
"A 3D ocean cake"...

I hope you enjoyed.

If I ever feel the need to order a cake, I'll remember this, and go order it in person.

KYren 19. October 2009, 04:11

Deliberate mistakes?

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 04:14

@ Star ~ And bring a note too! :D

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 04:17

Stardancer 19. October 2009, 04:48

I didn't have a birthday party, P2. If I had, you can bet your...well, whatever...that you would've been invited.

:D

Phantom2 19. October 2009, 05:10

Well, we'll just have to party that much harder next year!

Hermitess 19. October 2009, 07:15

Those first cakes, well, someone paid for those? :eyes:
yikes!

Whenever I've ordered a cake they always ask, "Now tell me EXACTLY what you want written on the cake" Trying to avoid such mistakes no doubt!

rose-marie 19. October 2009, 10:40

 Amazing how nobody stopped to think "now that's a strange text to put on a cake..."!

Poor Taylor. That cake doesn't look very delicious... awww

Moesring 19. October 2009, 12:41

I'm sure the cakes you've baked look a lot more delicious than the ones above. :nudge nudge:

Furie 19. October 2009, 13:15

Poor Heidi. awww

Hermitess 19. October 2009, 13:22

I agree Rose, the 1st cakes don't have icing or anything, plus the writing kinda sucks. p:

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 13:43

@ Hermitess ~ I don't know - but the first cakes look like "Fragilité" to me :yum: - it's so sweet that people would die from sugar chock if you put icing on them!

@ Rose ~ If Taylor's got a sense of humour, she has laughed her ass off when she got the cakes!

@ Moe ~ :o: Thank you!

@ Mik ~ Let's hope Heidi speaks English too. :D

Dacotah 19. October 2009, 13:44

hi :D

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 13:45

Hello there Carol. P:

Dacotah 19. October 2009, 13:52

Well, you missed my
p: :D

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 13:53

Oh yes, I see that now. Try to laugh louder next time. :D

Dacotah 19. October 2009, 13:59

Okay

Is that loud enough. :D

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 14:13

I think it is, yes.

Dacotah 19. October 2009, 14:24

:D

RedFreya 19. October 2009, 14:39

Is it me or are some people( bakers) losing all their common sense. I`m showing my ignorance, but what type of cake is "Fragilité" I love cakes !! :D we ought to start a Cake Group. :chef:

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 14:40

Fragilité, very delicious French cake:

Very sweet too! :D

Spaggyj 19. October 2009, 14:58

Oh dear  . I think the last one is possibly the stupidest interpretation of the five Homer: Doh!

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 15:14

And the funniest too. :D

Moesring 19. October 2009, 15:29

I think the last one is possibly the stupidest interpretation of the five

Really? I quite like the last one.

Demanding a three-dimensional cake seems a bit stupid. First, cakes already have the requisite number of dimensions.
Secondly, making a three-dimensional ocean scene would involve making individual fishes (or individual shoals, at the very least), divers, oil slicks etc. - a potentially huge task that goes above ordinary cake-making.

The cake above literally meets the criteria, whilst getting revenge on an unreasonable customer.

I see you ignored my prompting, you sneaky kitten. :ninjacat:

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 16:55

Would you like to see one I baked? But... I've already posted lots of cake-pictures. :left:

Moesring 19. October 2009, 17:02

What a silly question.
I'd like to see all the cakes you have ever baked - even the ones you thought were sub-standard. You know that I can't get enough of your pictures.

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 17:08

Hahahaha... oh dear, all the cakes I've ever baked... I haven't got pictures of all the cakes I've ever baked!

Hermitess 19. October 2009, 17:16

I wasn't aware of a Fragilite cake. I suppose it does look like that! Traditional Birthday cakes here have icing and lots of decorations. Sweet sweet icing.... why isn't there a drooling icon?

Moesring 19. October 2009, 17:18

I haven't got pictures of all the cakes I've ever baked!

awww
Well then I might never be happy if I can't see every cake you've ever made since kittenhood... and it is all your fault.:cry:
:left:

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 17:20

@ Hermitess ~ We don't do icing much here awww I like it though.

@ Moe ~ Umm... I sowwy. awww
What if I take pictures of the cakes I bake in future + provides a :bellyrub:? Will that help?? :left:

Moesring 19. October 2009, 17:22

No! :knight:
What would help is if you take pictures of future cakes and I give you a :bellyrub:.

Zaphira 19. October 2009, 17:30

Okay, you just got yourself a deal!

jekav 19. October 2009, 20:08

I would love my cake to be wrong like this. It would give a good excuse not to pay for it
They still taste the same :D

clean 20. October 2009, 02:03

 The last one.

Diabolical 20. October 2009, 05:40

 those first two p:

Minenow 26. October 2009, 03:34

Lordy. Some of the frosters weren't even pretty in the application of their mixup.

Now that's the real travesty in my humble opinion.

Zaphira 26. October 2009, 05:03

Good point.
I'd taste either one of the cakes though. :yum:

Minenow 26. October 2009, 13:53

:D Got to eat the mistakes.

 Oopsie. P:

Minenow 26. October 2009, 13:58

Have you said which kind of cake is your " makes you weak in the knees , drool uncontrollably, all time bested cake ever possible"?

Or do you love cake so much, that you would award several awards to this, in sub-catagories?

Zaphira 26. October 2009, 16:46

hmmmm..... that's really a tough question!

I think I choose the latter answer - so many cakes - so little time. awww

Do you have an all time favourite?

Minenow 27. October 2009, 03:09

cake? *thinks* *thinks* I do  cake....

 Yes. My mom makes this black forest cake that has like a big indented center when you flip it over after baking.

add a fudgey layer of frosting, mix together some real whipped cream with some unsweetened chocolate so it looks like little bits, and top with chocolate curls or syrup in your favorite design.

or after the fudgey layer, you put the homemade whipped cream and top with cherries from a can.

I love the quadruple chocolate decadence... but damn, they are both soooooo amazingly good. *drools*

It's the one thing I ask for every single time I go home for a visit (once a year or every couple years) .....

Zaphira 27. October 2009, 04:42

Wow... it does sound like a cake I would ask for too. *drools a little bit*

I'm still trying to think about the one cake that takes the prize for me, but... it's soooo difficult to choose!

I like chocolate, but somehow I don't think of chocolate cake as my favourite cake. I had a really good carrot cake a couple of times, with some kind of creamy top on it, :yum: ... hmm...

Okay, it's not every day I sit by my computer at 5.45 in the morning, talking about cake!

Minenow 27. October 2009, 14:13

:D I'm addicted to it. Funny, I won't make it myself... It wouldn't be the same.

I make these very moist pumpkin bars with this amazing cream cheese frosting that is unlike anything I've ever had. Bet it'd be good with carrotcake!

Zaphira 27. October 2009, 20:02

I know that feeling - making it yourself just isn't the same! Getting it as a tradition when you visit home, that's great!

That cheese frosting sounds just as perfect to carrot cake as it possibly can. :yum:

(Just came home from dinner, had a very lovely looking cake for dessert, but it wasn't as good as it looked. awww )

Minenow 27. October 2009, 22:43

I hate it when deserts fall short of expectations... Sensibly speaking, it isn't like you can just get more. :left:

I shall have to dig out my recipes and try to convert the frosting part of it for ya one of these days. I remember seeing my recipes but can't for the life of me remember when or which box they may be in or if they may be with me. I'll check here this weekend and see. :D
