There are many daily visitors to my blog, and I appreciate all my subscribers, whether they comment or not.

But ... there are some who come here for other reasons than to read my daily posts. I'm talking about the ones who end up here because of Google or another search engine that pointed them in this direction. Lots of these people might ended up disappointed, but well, it's just not easy to please all, is it?

Nazis on Facebook

,

The chairman of the Nazi organisation – the National Socialist Movement of Denmark (DNSB) – is using the widespread appeal of online social networking to recruit more members to his organisation.

DNSB chairman Jonni Hansen uses his personal profile on Facebook to post videos and speeches and take part in group debates. He says that Facebook is perfect for communicating the message to a lot of new people. And he is not lacking in company on the website, with almost 130 ‘friends’ listed, some of whom appear more extremist than himself, whose profile photo features him standing behind a lectern draped in a Danish flag.

One of his online supporters posted a photo of himself masked, clad in black and holding a knife, while giving a Nazi salute in front of the Danish flag. Another uses a swastika image instead of a personal photo.

The current DNSB organisation was founded in 1991 and can trace its roots back to the Danish Nazi Party of the 1930s. Their controversial radio station has been banned a number of times due to content broadcast, but continues to operate on a private basis. Membership figures for the organisation are not released.

Do you think freedom of speech should be limited in some way? Do you think it should be allowed to spread propaganda online??

Google and privacy

,

Google Denmark is launching 360 degree views of city streets, but promises to take the privacy of the public into consideration

Google will begin photographing the streets of Copenhagen, Odense and Århus starting yesterday to add them to its "Street View"-database.

The Street View feature of Google Maps allows the user to see a 360 degree panoramic view of a particular map location from ground level. It has already been launched in the US, Australia, Japan and a number of European cities.
Google will begin photographing all the major streets of the country’s three largest cities using a special camera mounted to the roof of a car.

The country director for Google in Denmark could not say when the images would be available online, but said they are taking advantage of the good weather to capture as many images as possible.

The phenomenon, which started in 2007, recently caused concern in the UK. An angry mob of local residents in Buckinghamshire blocked a Google camera car from entering their street at the start of April over privacy fears.

The Google director says the company uses a technology which automatically blurs licence plates and faces, and members of the public who are captured on film can also request to be removed from the image.

*note to self*: remember to draw the curtains before taking a shower! :o:
(Who the f*ck wants to be blurred out!) :D

Rumours about Firefox

, ,

Apparently there has been rumours about Firefox dating a LOLcat, and despite attempts of denying, it's now finally confirmed!

Facebook

, ,

I am sorry for cursing in the title, but I have some news about Facebook: :D

34 percent of the Danish population have placed a profile on Facebook compared to 33 percent in for instance Canada. At the beginning of December, Denmark's number was 30 percent.

According to a survey which helps companies profile themselves on Facebook, the number of Danes on Facebook grew by 268 percent in 2008 alone.

The report says that an unusually large number of Danish middle-aged and senior citizens use Facebook compared with other countries.

Looking at the average age in other popular Facebook countries shows that Denmark is probably the country in the world with the highest average age - and this is one of the factors that has made Denmark the biggest Facebook country in the world, the report says.

I think I'll just stay here on MyOpera. Facebook doesn't really appeal to me.
