International Kissing Day

, ,

Today, on July 6th, it's International Kissing Day, or World Kiss Day! The idea behind the International Kissing Day is that many people may have forgotten the simple pleasures associated with kissing for kissing's sake.

Kissing is good for you - it is a great stress buster and can burn up to 2 calories per minute if you're making an effort! It also tones your facial muscles - so don't bother with the anti-wrinkle cream, just kiss ahead.

A few fun facts about kissing:

The first kiss in a movie was recorded in 1896 - by May Irvin and John S. Reye. It was a 30-second act by Thomas Edison named The Kiss, counting 191 kisses.

A. E. Wolfram from Minnesota kissed approximately 8001 people in 8 hours during the kissing festival. It means he managed to kiss a new person every 3.6 seconds. It happened on September 15, 1990.

The longest kiss in movie history is credited to "You're in the Army Now" (1940); Lead Actors Regis Toomey and Jane Wyman kissed for 185 seconds, which is 4 % of the movie length!

So pucker up! It's World Kiss Day today! :smooch:

Nutella!!

, , ,

I love nutella.

It is a delicious hazelnut flavoured sweet spread, invented by an Italian guy, Pietro Ferrero. Pietro owned a patisserie in Alba, in the Langhe district of Piedmont, Italy. During WWII it became very difficult to get your hands on chocolate, so Pietro figured out that he could make the chocolate last longer if he blended it with roasted and minced hazelnuts.

The original version of nutella was called "pasta gianduja," pasta which means paste, and "gianduja" which is the name of a carnival character famous to the region. Pasta gianduja was made in loaves and wrapped in tinfoil, so it could be sliced and placed on bread.

Piotr changed the recipe in 1949 and changed the concept into a sandwich spread instead, and renamed the product "supercrema gianduja". In 1964 his son Michele changed the name again, this time to "nutella".

It was an instant success, and is now sold in over 75 countries.

In Italy, in Bologna, there's even a nutelleria. So next time I'm visiting Italy, I want to go to Bologna and taste a piece of what must be heaven: Crepes with nutella, corn flakes with nutella, nutellapizzas, nutellabaguettes and so on and so on... I swear I don't leave that place until I'm nauseous! lol

It has just come to my attention that there's such a thing as "World nutellaDay" every year on February 5th. It started in 2007 in Italy.
I missed it this year, but I'll definitely not miss it next year!

The fine thing about nutellais that it goes with many things:

You can spread it on all sort of bread and bagels, muffins, cupcakes, layered cakes, crêpes, pancakes, on cereal, or just eat it plain from the jar.

Use it to pamper yourself, eat it for breakfast, for brunch or on rye bread for lunch. Have it with your dessert. The options are many, as you can see! up

It's so easy to get addicted. One spoonful and I just knew I had to have more. love

Did I mention that I heart nutella? I really do.

And now, dear friends, you'll have to excuse me.

I've got stuff to do...

Going the Distance

, ,

In this romantic comedy, Garrett (played by Justin Long) and Erin (played by sweet Drew Barrymore) meet in a bar. Their apparent one night stand turns into six weeks. Unfortunately, six weeks is all they have. Erin's internship at the New York Chronicle is over and she's headed back to San Francisco, to finish her studies, living with her sister and her family. Neither Garrett nor Erin are willing to break up, so they decide to start a long distance relationship to hold on to each other.

We follow their struggles to make it work. They talk daily on the phone, they open Christmas presents via video chat, and they even try to have phone sex. Unfortunately none of it works as good as the real thing. Seeing each other every 3 months starts to wear them down emotionally, and tough decisions are to be made.

And no, I'm not gonna reveal here whether they make it or not! bigsmile

As for the acting, I liked both Drew Barrymore and Justin Long in this movie. Christina Applegate plays the sister, and she's doing it so well. She really steals the scene when she is on. Very good. Jim Gaffigan who plays her dry humping husband does a very good job too. up

It looks like a chick flick. I think there were about 8 dudes in the cinema when I saw the movie, the rest of the audience was chicks. But I'd say men could get a great laugh out of this movie as well. up

I was entertained for sure.

Another thing - check out the soundtrack! There were some really good music there:

1. Generationals - "Either Way"
2. Georgie James - "Places"
3. Katie Herzig - "Hey Na Na"
4. Albert Hammond, Jr. - "In Transit"
5. The Cure - "Just Like Heaven"
6. The Pretenders - "Don't Get Me Wrong"
7. The Boxer Rebellion - "Spitting Fire"
8. Cat Power - "Could We"
9. Band Of Skulls - "Cold Flame"
10. Eels - "Prizefighter"
11. Passion Pit - "The Reeling" (Groove Police Remix)
12. Fanfarlo - "Harold T. Wilkins, Or How To Wait For A Very Long Time"
13. The Replacements - "Here Comes A Regular"
14. The Boxer Rebellion - "If You Run"
15. Gotye - "Learnalilgivinanlovin"
16. The Airborne Toxic Event - "Half Of Something Else"

Alphabet Game ~ K

,

I've reached the 11th post in my row of Alphabet posts - and today's letter is K.

K has to be for kisses. happy

Kissing is fantastic. You can express so much in a single kiss - it's like talking without words.

I found a list of what some kisses are called. I've sorted the list - so if you know this list and remember it as being longer, then you're right.

Here ya go, a list of kisses and their names:

Butterfly Kiss - With your faces less than a breath away, open and close your eyelids against your partners. If done correctly, the fluttering sensation will match the one in your heart.

Cheek Kiss - A friendly, "I really like you" kiss. Often the preferred kissing method of a first date. With your hands on your partner's shoulders, gently brush your lips across his/her cheek.

Eskimo Kiss - With your faces less than a breath apart, gently rub your noses together. This is a kiss I really like!

Eyelid Kiss - While your partner is resting/sleeping with eyes closed, very very gently kiss the spot right below their browbone. A very intimate kiss.

Finger Kiss - While laying together gently suck on his/her fingers. This can be very seductive and pleasurable.

Forehead Kiss - The "motherly" kiss or "just friends" kiss. The forehead kiss can be a comforting kiss to anyone. Simply brush your lips lightly across the crown of their head.

Freeze Kiss (or Melt Kiss) - Experiment with this fun kiss. Put a small piece of ice in your mouth, then open mouth and kiss your partner, passing them the ice with your tongue. It's an erotic and sensual french kiss with a twist of cold.

French Kiss - The kiss involving the tongue. Some call this the "Soul Kiss" because the life and soul are thought to pass through the mouth's breath in the exchange across tongues. Surprisingly, the French call this "The English Kiss".

Hickey Kiss - The object is not to draw blood, but to gently leave a mark that will prove your interlude was not a dream. This is often included in erotic foreplay.

Lick Kiss - Just before kissing, gently run your tongue along you partners lip whether it be the top or bottom one depending on the position of your lips. Very sensual.

Lip Sucking Kiss - When kissing gently suck on their lower lip. This can be very exciting.

Neck Nibble Kiss - Gently nibble up and down your partners neck. End with a gentle kiss on the lips.

Nip Kiss - This kiss can create a very erotic sensation. While kissing your partner, ever so gently nibble on their lips. You must be very careful not to bite to hard or hurt your partner. When done correctly, this kiss ignites wonderful sensations.

The Whipped Cream Kiss - Dip your finger into some cool whip or whipped cream of your choice. Lick it off slowly, then embrace your partner and kiss them deeply letting their tongue slip over yours for a wonderfully sweet kiss. It's very seductive and passionate.

Tiger Kiss - Quietly sneak up behind your partner making sure they do not know what you are going to do. Out of the blue, grab them and gently bite their neck. Make sure to get a few good growls in too. This will surely surprise them.

Trickle Kiss - Take a sip of a favourite drink and trickle it slowly into partner's mouth while kissing.

Tongue Sucking - A variation of the French kiss. During an open-mouth kiss gently suck on your partner's tongue (not too hard because it may hurt).

Quickie Kiss - When you're in a rush. Often the nose gets it rather than the lips.

Wake Up Kiss - Before your partner awakes lean over and kiss their cheek and move over giving soft kisses until you reach their lips. Definitely a more than pleasant way to wake up!

You burn 26 calories in a 1 minute kiss. So kiss, kiss, kiss. yes
