It's Christmas soon!!

, , , ...

It's Christmas evening tomorrow! And I haven't met Santa this December, which means two things:
1: I haven't had the chance to hand over my wishlist,
and
2: I haven't had my picture taken with him. awww

Here's a bunch of other people who had their picture taken with Santa:

Rumours say that Santa has been avoiding me. But hey - I'm not responsible for what my relatives do!

Fourth Sunday in Advent

, ,

There's less than one week to Christmas now, as it's the fourth Sunday in Advent. It's been a very productive day so far, we've done heaps of chores. Right now I can smell the sweet scent of home baked buns from the kitchen. happy

Anyways - the day started with me having my weekly present. I was all excited like I've been the other three Sundays. I just love getting presents. party

Today's parcel held another piece of jewellery - a bracelet with little skulls on it:

It's cool, isn't it?! I love it!

(The flower in the background is a Christmas flower I took home with me from work. I like red, and I find these flowers very Christmassy, so they're perfect in December.)

I don't really know what the skulls are made of. Here's a close up:

I've tried to convince FlaRin that there's such a thing as the fifth and sixth Sunday in Advent, but he didn't look as if he believed me.... lol

I hope you've all had a great Sunday. heart

Third Sunday in advent

, , ,

Christmas is getting near - it's already the third Sunday in Advent today. I can't believe that it's actually Christmas in less than two weeks!

I haven't baked any Christmas cookies yet, and not made any Christmas candy either. Fact is that I have been working quite a lot recently. I've been joining a couple of conferences out of town, last one was last week. I left home at 6.20AM and got back home at 8.20PM. Quite a long day, and to be honest I could have spent that day better by actually being at work. But sometimes you do things because you have to. awww

But anyway - I'm not complaining. I like my job, even though it can be tough at times. I sometimes feel like I'm working in a battlefield, and when I get home after a long day I feel like a frigging chess player, playing the game as strategically as I possibly can.

Enough about that, that's not what this post was supposed to be about. As I said in the beginning, it's the third Sunday in Advent today, and therefore time for another little present! happy

Here's what I got:

It's a Max Factor False lash effect mascara and a Dr. Scheller Sea Buckthorn hand cream.

I've been wanting to try that mascara for quite a while now, so I was very happy to see it included in a gift! And my hands tend to get very dry - both because it's winter and bloody cold, but also because of the nail polish remover I use.

So all in all it was the perfect gift. love

Have a great Sunday, everybody!

2nd Sunday in Advent

, , ,

I'm posting late today, because we've been out all day, and it's impossible to make these Advent posts beforehand, since they're about something I'm getting the very same day.

But anyway - it's been a very long week, and finally it's Sunday again. I'm excited over these four Sundays in advent, since Flarin has said yes to buy my little gifts of pampering, instead of having me doing it myself.

To make a very long story shorter, here is what I got today:

It's a necklace with a pendant, with a skull lady in the middle, and surrounded by little skulls. I think it's absolutely gorgeous, and it's so me. love

We went to Sweden today, to shop a little bit in Malmö. I bought some plastic boxes, some makeup and some nail polish, a t-shirt and a pair of pantyhoses. And some Christmas presents that I'm unable to mention here just yet. wink

I hope you all had a great Sunday.

First Sunday in Advent

,

Those of my readers who have been around for over a year know that I have this little Christmas gift thing going on in December. Or on the four Sundays in Advent to be more precise. Every year I've been celebrating the four Sundays by buying myself a little present for each Sunday. Not necessarily fancy or expensive stuff, but things I really want or need. One of last year's little present was a cheese grater, and another was a pair of nice socks, just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

So, it's the first Sunday in Advent today, and I've passed on the gift baton to Flarin. I was so lucky he said yes to buying me the four little gifts instead of having me buy them myself. It's much more fun too when you don't actually know what you get.

I woke up early today, totally excited over the fact that I was to get a gift. I waited impatiently for more than 15 minutes before I poked him awake, asking him "Are you awake...?"

To make a long story short - here's what I got:

Isn't it pretty?

I can't wait till next Sunday! happy

Me, Myself and I

, ,

I have been neglecting my blog lately. I'm not posting every day as I use to, and I haven't been as enthusiastic about commenting either. I can't explain why, it just happened. I guess life gets in the way from time to time. And I also guess that most of you dudes and dudettes know what it's like.

I still work a lot. And I've been having a few conferences and stuff out of town recently, plus work dinners and other more or less interesting things. I plan to make a blogpost about work soon too.

I've also been ill. It started with an infected throat that developed into pneumonia, so I was friggin' ill for an entire month! irked
I ended up on medication that mentioned side effects like threatening and violent behaviour, cramps, skin infections and bleeding from the rectum. Fortunately I didn't get any of these!

Then there's home life, that gets in the way of blogging too. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing, but it's still very much different than when Flarin and I were in different time zones. happy

But I promise to try to do better. It's not because I haven't got anything to say, or that I've run out of ideas to blog about - not at all. The road from idea to blogpost is just a little bit longer these days.

I apologize.

PS. I do have a feeling that I might put up another blog post later today, if things go as I hope. *crosses fingers* wink

This is the tenth post in my row of music challenges - time sure flies when you're having fun.

This week's challenge: A song that makes you fall asleep.

I'm sure this one will make you laugh, but that's alright. bigsmile I find it quite funny myself, actually.

Sing me this lullaby, and I'll be sleeping safely like a happy kitten. happy

Left brain vs. Right brain

, , ,

That sounds weird, but it's not.

The human brain consists of the right brain and the left brain. The shapes of these two parts are similar, but differences have been gradually found in their functions. The left brain is also referred to as the digital brain. It controls reading and writing, calculation, and logical thinking. The right brain is referred to as the analogue brain. It controls three-dimensional sense, creativity, and artistic senses. These two halves work together, but most people are controlled more by one part than by the other!

Basically left brainers are:
Logical
Sequential
Rational
Analytical
Objective
Looks at parts

And right brainers are:
Random
Intuitive
Holistic
Synthesizing
Subjective
Looks at wholes

Can you tell from the lists if you're mostly ruled by left or right part of your brain?

If not, you can take this test - it might give you a hint.

My result is:

Right Brain/ Left Brain Quiz
The higher of these two numbers below indicates which side of your brain has dominance in your life. Realising your right brain/left brain tendancy will help you interact with and to understand others.
Left Brain Dominance: 10(10)
Right Brain Dominance: 7(7) Right Brain/ Left Brain Quiz

I am not really surprised over this result. I think of myself as *very* analytical, logically thinking and rational, which all implies left brain dominance. But I admit to be subjective, very empathic and I always try to look at the whole perspective in all situations, which is definitely a right brain thing.

So there you have it. I'm a mix of the two, but slightly more left brained than right brained. smile

What are you?
