Kitty's Corner

No Nakedness Please

, , ,

A family in Jersey made their version of the classic sculpture "Venus de Milo" out of snow. Their over-sensitive neighbours, however, felt offended by the nakedness of the snow sculpture and complained to the police.

The authorities told the family to cover the snow sculpture until it's melted.

My guess is that the two neighbours aren't the best of friends now - I'd be giving them a frosty shoulder for sure if it was me.

Sheesh... Some people! rolleyes

Phantom2 Sunday, March 14, 2010 8:09:39 AM

KittyliciousZaphira Sunday, March 14, 2010 10:57:11 AM

@ Carol ~ Complaining about Donald Duck not wearing pants is ridiculous. I mean, it's not that he's flashing his willy or anything. rolleyes

@ Phantom ~ It's a woman and her two children who made the sculpture, so if it's Bud's house, there might be something he hasn't told us about wink

@ Fredric ~ I think it's extraordinarily cool and well made!

@ Cois ~ I think so too! I wish I could make something like it up

@ Flarin ~ That's what I think too. There are lots of "worse" snow sculptures than this one. Here's one from my WTF-album:

@ Mik ~ Yes, indeed! bigsmile

Spaggyj Sunday, March 14, 2010 11:16:03 AM

Wow, that's really impressive! Stupid with the bikini, some people... rolleyes

Dacotah Sunday, March 14, 2010 11:19:03 AM

I know, silly things people complain about isn't it?

Bad WolfCois Sunday, March 14, 2010 11:20:18 AM

Like this one time I watched my neighbours with binoculars.. irked i mean.. What's the problem huh? rolleyes

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, March 14, 2010 2:05:37 PM

It's the fact that you were naked and in their kitchen that they complained about. left

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, March 14, 2010 3:03:19 PM

Things like that would never have happened in Denmark. What is it with nakedness that make some Americans go ape shit? Can anybody answer?

She said "Jersey", not "New Jersey", Fredric, so she might mean Britain. But the house looks typically American, so there is room for doubt.

Martin, you look different. LOL
I can't really give you a definitive answer, but I think the answer lies somewhere in the incredible diversity in this country. I'm sometimes amazed at some of the specimens that crawl out of the woodwork ... I sometimes think I've been abducted by aliens and put back into the wrong movie. You should have seen the dingbat that was on the telly last night ... a religious crank that believes the earth is less than 10,000 years old and the bible is inerrant. And, he's on the textbook committee of the Texas school system! Oy, vay!

And, BTW, the sculpture is really quite good ... remarkably so, considering the "snow sculptures" that I normally see.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, March 14, 2010 4:19:07 PM

whistle stop stalking my stalkings Mik.. rolleyes

KittyliciousZaphira Sunday, March 14, 2010 7:01:19 PM

@ Kimmie ~ At least they found a bikini that fitted. bigsmile

@ Carol ~ It is indeed! I've wondered: When Donald Duck is going for a shower, he takes off his shirt and wraps a towel around his waist... Why?? bigsmile

@ Cois ~ Did they catch you in the act? bigsmile

@ Mik ~ You were there too? bigeyes

@ Martin ~ You're right - here people would have gone there and taken photos of the sculpture instead. up

@ dW ~ Sorry, my mistake, I didn't specify enough. The family lives in Rahway, New Jersey. I have no idea if that makes them yankees, but I sure know that they are very skilful in creating snowwomen!

Bad WolfCois Sunday, March 14, 2010 7:12:39 PM

In the act of looking at them with binoculars while Mik wanted to wank me with his supple mouth? no what makes you come up with these horrible things kitty? whistle

KittyliciousZaphira Sunday, March 14, 2010 7:31:46 PM

A wolf once told me that truth should set you free, that's why! happy

Dacotah Sunday, March 14, 2010 8:54:43 PM

So he doesn't piss off that stupid mother that wanted him to wear pants. lol bigsmile

Angelikiellinidata Sunday, March 14, 2010 10:25:48 PM

the neighbors must had other issues with them .... as for the police,
shame that did not dismiss it!

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, March 14, 2010 10:42:06 PM

Just down the block somebody made a snow sculpture in the shape of a giant penis in the front yard. People just go by with a grin, but nobody is the slightest upsett. We had a scary Frankenstein/zombie figure as well. No artsy-fartsy stuff like the above, but creative even so.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, March 14, 2010 10:53:14 PM

Kitty.. Stop believing what wolves tell you.. whistle uhm.. you hear animal voices? :doctorphil: and you think that's ok? rolleyes

Doug Bardmassthebard Monday, March 15, 2010 1:21:44 AM

We haven't had enough snow to sculpt. pssst cat

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, March 15, 2010 5:49:09 AM

@ Carol ~ Now she might complain over the fact that he's topless! lol

@ Angeliki ~ I believe you're right, and fights between neighbours are the worst. I've had a neighbour who hated me and to be honest, the feeling was mutual. It was awful!

@ Martin ~ Someone down the block turned 30 and his friends made him the obligatory pepper mill, in the shape of a huge penis. It was made out of barrels and 3-4 metres high. It stood next to his front door for a couple of months before he had somebody help him remove it. lol

@ Cois ~ I hear animal voices all the time, especially when talking to self.. I thought that was normal. worried

@ Bard ~ I so wish I could say the same! awww

Dacotah Monday, March 15, 2010 7:05:44 AM

lol
She might think a male duck topless is okay but look out if it's Daisy duck going topless. lol

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, March 15, 2010 7:23:37 PM

I didn't know there was a difference between male and female duck breasts. bigsmile

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, March 15, 2010 9:51:49 PM

Look, though the Duckburg citizens are fairly anthropomorphic, they are evidently asexual beings.

Whether this is due to religious or cultural norms or bilogical perculiarities, nobody knows. The commonly enforced tradition of interfamiliar parenting (as in the case of Huey, Dewey and Louie) suggests that the institution of marriage might be non-existent in the Duckburg culture. The total lack of conventional family structures supports this notion. Though the ducks are clearly interacting in personal male/female relationships, there seems to be no reproductional purpose in them.

On the other hand, the casual half-naked look might suggest a rather liberated attitude towards sexuality.

More research needs to be done in this area...

Dacotah Monday, March 15, 2010 10:07:00 PM

lol Me either. bigsmile

Freya RedFreya Monday, March 15, 2010 10:46:34 PM

They should be glad that they have such talented sculptors living next door, rather than complaining. Some people want to be offended.

KittyliciousZaphira Tuesday, March 16, 2010 5:24:34 AM

@ Martin ~ You're right about the duckburg citizens - and it's funny to notice how the children are almost never sons or daughters, but almost always nieces and nephews. A phew exceptions are the son of the big bad wolf, and Hiawatha, the red Indian boy. And from the cartoons, Bambi and Dumbo, but that's a totally different story. smile

@ Carol ~ smile

@ Freya ~ I couldn't agree more!

Dacotah Tuesday, March 16, 2010 6:13:37 AM

happy heart

Bud McDonnellfammcdon Thursday, March 18, 2010 2:10:40 PM

That didn't even make the news around here. down And yeah, NJ is yankee territory. happy

Bud McDonnellfammcdon Thursday, March 18, 2010 8:51:20 PM

Wrong kind of Yankee p Almost everyone hates the baseball team. And it doesn't help that they beat Philadelphia in the World Series last season. irked

der WandersmannderWandersmann Friday, March 19, 2010 3:11:21 AM

I think that the proper use of Yankee is confined to the inhabitants of the New England states.

Unless you're a Brit; then "Yank" means any American.

Bud McDonnellfammcdon Friday, March 19, 2010 3:54:39 AM

Anyone from the northeastern part of the US, above the Mason-Dixon line is considered a yankee. This originated back in the Civil War era.

KittyliciousZaphira Friday, March 19, 2010 5:08:12 AM

So, yankees are proud to be yankees, and everybody else don't like them, is it like that?

Phantom2 Friday, March 19, 2010 5:15:29 AM

Down here we call them "Those @&*%#!* Yankees" cheers

KittyliciousZaphira Friday, March 19, 2010 5:31:34 AM

Ahaha, I was right then! lol

FlaRin Friday, March 19, 2010 6:05:38 AM

Origin of word = Yanqui ??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee_(disambiguation)

'Swamp Yankee' would be a great name for a rock band up

\edit - no - 'Yanqui' appeared in about 1928. I was thinking of 'Gringo' smile

Bud McDonnellfammcdon Friday, March 19, 2010 6:30:01 AM

Them rednecks down south are still pissed off that we won the war. wink

...oh...right smile

and then... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_(pejorative)

...sound less friendly somehow - but always ready to be enlightened..smile

KittyliciousZaphira Friday, March 19, 2010 7:46:29 AM

You guys got so weird names for each other. "Rednecks"... I mean... wtf! bigsmile

Martin K™Aqualion Friday, March 19, 2010 7:54:03 AM

You'd get sunburns on the back of your neck from being outdoors all day, like farmers. It's kind of opposite to the Danish equivalent 'bonderøv'.

KittyliciousZaphira Friday, March 19, 2010 4:56:14 PM

Oh... thanks, I didn't know that! smile

Martin K™Aqualion Saturday, March 20, 2010 7:54:22 AM

Du kan da ikke mene, at "bonderøv" behøver forklaring...

der WandersmannderWandersmann Saturday, March 20, 2010 2:33:02 PM

Redneck is used in the British Isles as well, for exactly the same reason that Martin mentioned. It is considered derogatory.

Originally posted by Aqualion:

Yes, it does, Martin ... I can't find it anywhere.

Martin K™Aqualion Saturday, March 20, 2010 3:04:34 PM

bigsmile

Bonde = peasent

Røv = lower back area of the human body
