Kitty's Corner

Who wants to be a Millionaire?

,

(Or: "Hvem vil være Millionær?")

Do you ever watch that show on Television? I've seen it a couple of times, but I am not a regular watcher. - I can't be since I don't watch TV much at all. But sometimes I think it's funny to try and guess with the ones at the show.

Anyway...

I was invited to come watch the show as part of the audience, and since I was curious to see how it is recorded, I said yes. The show usually lasts for 45 minutes, and I was told to be there for about 3 hours, so I knew that there would be a lot of waiting.

When I got there I was told that there were about 200 persons invited, and we would be served a light meal, not dinner, but something to eat. :bah: All there was was candy and cookies, and even though I like both, it's not exactly dinner. :D Anyway, after half an hour of cookie- and candy-eating, everybody suddenly got up and stood in line. I hadn't heard anybody say anything about getting in line, but since everybody else got up, I did too. Look:

After two minutes, a guy (who worked there) said that there was no reason to stand there yet, since they weren't ready in the studio. Everybody reacted as if they didn't hear him, but I sat down again, thinking to myself that they probably didn't invite more people than they had seats. :left:

After about 15-20 minutes of more waiting, we finally were allowed into the studio. I was one of the last ones, and I was seated right next to a seat. Yes, you read it right, next to a seat. Apparently they calculated with some wastage rate, so there weren't enough seats after all.

Here's the view from where I sat:

The studio was much smaller than I had expected; it looks so big on TV. Now I know it's their wide angles lenses that do the trick!

A guy came on and started warming up the audience. Here's a glance of him:

He was hilarious, told a lot of cool jokes, imitated the host and previous competitors and really created a great atmosphere!

Then the host came, and the show started. It was cool, the two competitors were teacher and student respectively, so they had a lot of background knowledge. They stopped at the prize just below the first prize, and went home with half a million Danish Kroner. (66,300 Eur).

All in all it was a good evening, but man! Was I hungry after some real food! :chef:

ps. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, it wasn't really allowed to take pictures there. :D

Campaign BloobersA very special Tuesday morning!!

A scenery looks a little bit different than what we have here (no red colour at all) but in core it looks the same. As far as I remember. Was the same guy a host?

Kitty 16. December 2008, 06:17

The red carpets was removed shortly after, they were only meant for the audience to get in on. They didn't want us to step on the glas.
The host was another guy, Hans Pilgaard, who is adored by many women:

Cool.

Mit 16. December 2008, 06:41

It's one of the most favourite game shows in our country  My parents usually watch it every week. Sometimes, when I'm at home I watch it, it's really interesting.

"I was seated right next to a seat" :D

Kitty 16. December 2008, 06:50

@ Carol ~ Yes, it was. It's not something I'll do again, but it was worth the experience!

@ Mit ~ How funny that it's so popular there.
And yes, it would be nice not to have the "next to a seat"-experience. My butt and my back were pretty sore when we were finally let out.

Carol 16. December 2008, 07:01

If you do, you will know to bring food. :D

Kimmie 16. December 2008, 10:16

Sounds like rather a letdown, but at least you've been to see what it's really like

Santa Furie 16. December 2008, 10:18

Poor Tils. awww You'll have to start taking a seat with you. :D

Kitty 16. December 2008, 10:24

@ Kimmie ~ That guy on the last photo was really funny, he made it all worth it. Now I have to watch out for when they broadcast the show so I can see if I am visible. :D

@ Mik ~ Some kind of inflatable pillow would have been nice to sit on.

Cois 16. December 2008, 10:58

*Goes looking for episode to spot the cat in audience*

Kitty 16. December 2008, 11:53

Say when if you see me! :cat:

Angeliki 16. December 2008, 13:35

thanks for sharing the experience with us Zaphira...
there are some people that visit once like you did ,
and there are some groups thet do it on a regular basis,
when I had the Corporation and we were giving presentations ,
the crowd was anormous in the beginning,
when they ate the 2/3 of them were gone
of course we did change the schedule and
we did the presentation first and later the eating but,
to this day I still remember the over stuffed paper plates
with the cookies taken away by people who were there to see friends and take "a doggie bag "
you got to love them!

again thanks for sharing!

Kitty 16. December 2008, 14:33

I discovered what you say, that there were people who had been there many times. It certainly can't be for the food in this case.
It was fun, for a one time experience, I don't feel the urge to do it again.

Angeliki 16. December 2008, 14:40

unless they call you ro become the millionaire of course!!

Kitty 16. December 2008, 14:42

Unfortunately they didn't ask me to come down and answer the questions. I was actually able to answer the first prize question.
(But there were a couple of the questions on the way up there that I would have failed on) awww

Suntana 17. December 2008, 02:16

I'm not even sure if the USA version is even still airing somewhere in syndication. I never got into it even back in its heyday of it being on like 5 nights s a week or thereabouts. Networks always get greedy. Then they burned people out on it.

I WOULD be curious to see how a TV Show is taped.
But, at the cost of 3 Hours PLUS? Nnnnggg, I just don't know if it would be worth it. It would be reminiscent of the super long, tedious waits in lines for amusement park rides.

Kitty 17. December 2008, 05:13

True, 3 hours is a lot for it. I'd say that the guy that warmed up the audience was all woroth it. He and the host had some kind of "battle" going on, and hearing that was absolutely hilarious!

For instance, the host said:
"By the way, the pharmacy called and said your pills were ready. You can just pick them up after the show, they're open late!"

And the guy responded:
They're open late? Do you promise that?

Host said:
"yes!"

Guy said:
"You also promised you weren't infectious!"

Suntana 17. December 2008, 16:55

:insane:

theoddbod 20. December 2008, 01:21

It's odd the way the prize varies so wildly from country to country. I mean, here a million pounds would be life-changing, but it probably wouldn't be enough to really live easily for the rest of your life. But your first prize wouldn't buy the average UK house.
I know some countries (like Indonesia) change it to 'Billionaire'...and even then the amount equates to only maybe £50k to £60k.

Kitty 20. December 2008, 06:11

Is your first prize a million pounds? Ours is ten time less - I agree, that's kind of weird. I never thought that there would be such a big difference, and I wonder if that goes for other world wide quizzes as well. We had also got "The weakest link" and Jeopardy, but I rarely saw them so I don't really remember the prizes.

theoddbod 20. December 2008, 11:24

Well, ours is the original so it would be a bit odd if our prize wasn't a million.

r♡se 20. December 2008, 17:36

Sounds like fun :D. I think I'd do fairly ok on a show like that...
I also think bearded man on the top photo spotted you!

Kitty 20. December 2008, 18:25

@ Mart ~ True. I didn't think of that, that your show is the original.

@ Rose ~ Yes, he did, because this was the second picture I took out there.
