Link to the future

Ever since the Babylonians hit upon the idea of using scratches in mud as way of recording information humans have been trying to keep part of their brain outside of their heads, where they would not lose it. While some cultures preferred to transmit information by telling and retelling it, writing it down proved to be more effective. During the intervening years there have been many innovations to make our lives easier. Paper replaced clay, so we did not have to break our backs carrying our documents. Printing came and suddenly information could be reproduced quickly and easily. Typewriters and then computers made it easier to put information on 'paper'. In the present day we see the internet being used as an external memory by millions. Can't remember the name of that actress? internet! don't know how to boil potatoes? internet! want to know the average speed of the African swallow? Well, you can see where I'm going with this. but with personal information, like your favourite bookmarks or that brilliant thought you had last Monday, things become more tricky. Certainly, you can make a website or a blog, where you can store whatever you might need at a moment's notice but who wants to go through that trouble? Again, innovation comes to the rescue.

With Opera Link it is possible to synchronize your bookmarks, speed dial, notes and your preferred search engines. So, if you are at work and want to show your co-workers the funny picture you found online the night before you don't have to go looking for it again. As long as you bookmarked it, you will be able to use that bookmark, as long as you have a PC or mobile phone with Opera on it. If you found a site and made some notes about it in Opera you will be able to access those notes as well. Whether you sit down in a park with your laptop, surf from an internet café or browse the web from your mobile phone. As long as you are using Opera it will be as if you just sat down behind your own PC in your own home. Your own bookmarks will be there, updated every time you add another to your collection. And, now that you don't have to remember them any more, you can use those precious grey cells for something more enjoyable.
