Which instant messaging client is the best...?

As we all know there are a number of either freeware or open source IM clients available now, which can access various services from one piece of software. As much as i can remember now, the three famous ones are:

In looks, features i must say that Digsby wins hands down, but as of the user experience, usability, looks counted all together i would say Pidgin wins.

Pidgin supports all the services MSN, Gtalk, Yahoo, AIM, Jabber, etc except Facebook chat which can be added via facebook chat plugin

Digsby on the other hand supports all services all together included in one package installer. Looks good, Feels good. Personally I am fine with pidgin and digsby both, trillian on the other hand is not for me. It is the most talked about though.

And the winner is Digsby.

Well, that's it for now. If you have any suggestions or maybe you know of some other better client, be it. please comment and let me know.

Thanks for reading.

Usha Exim website redesign project

, , , ...

One of my first projects being was the website redesign for http://www.ushaexim.com/, an indian export firm. I've made the website on php platform, with rather nice CSS & jQuery. I'm actually in love with jQuery since then, although I'm new to it. I believe its the best and the easiest framework for CSS developers.
Well, back to the website, above are the both the designs old(left) and the new(right) that I developed. I would call this my first proper project, before this was the http://www.ems-studio.ro/, which was a disaster, or actually it turned out to be one when google blocked the adsense account for some illigal click activity.

In this one I even developed a security module so that no one is able to view more than one page in each category of products, unless he provides a username and password. Well that was fun.

Module I was unable to impliment was:

  • Lightbox: it did'nt work coz' of some script clashes, niether the original Lokesh Dhakar's lightbox nor the Lightbox jQuery plugin. That was wierd.

everything else worked out pretty well. Its completely cross brower, renders perfectly in IE-6 & above, FF2+, Opera 9.5, and Google Chrome.

For now I'm working on my web portfolio. plan to launch it in another month or something if I dont get any new project.

Well, for now I'm off...to bored to do anything....

adios...

Google Chrome - By far the fastest browser

Google Chrome

"IE-8" is in its second beta when google launched there very own browser "Google Chrome" in its first beta. Even though I saw a few javascript glitches while using facebook and live mail, yahoo mail worked like a dream. It is by far the fastest browser I've ever used. Opens fast, render websites way faster and still has lot of other features packed.

One of which is a simple download manager, which provider the link to file at the bottom in a status bar, a home page which includes: Most Visited Pages, Recent Bookmarks, searching history bar, etc.

One of a very appealing feature I saw is creating an application shortcut for a page we are viewing and open it directly by its separate icon and visit the same page.

Configuration importer being so thoughtful gave me a choice between importing from IE or Firefox.

Renders pages pretty well, a website I designed rendered quite well.

From what I saw and experienced Chrome is here to stay.
