The Monthly Newsletter from Sebor Absinth Ltd. dealing with the current events, contest of the month, and last month's winners.

March 2007

I’ve been all of a flutter this month. A lorry full of our precious emerald elixir was stolen en route – I’m sorry that some things have been out of stock on www.seborabsinth.com but all will be right as rain soon. Cheer me up and tell me your most outrageous absinthe stories by entering this month’s story competition. And don’t forget to claim your free Antica Sambuca or Prava Slivovice miniature when you order, perfect for creating some weird and wonderful cocktails – try out the ‘B55’ recipe I’ve written below. Cheers!
You’ve got a treat in store this month. Place any order on www.seborabsinth.com and get a miniature for free! Choose between Coffee or Vanilla flavoured Antica Sambuca, or Prava Slivovice, a delicious plum brandy. When you get to the checkout type FREEMINI followed by ‘VANILLA’, ‘COFFEE’ or ‘PLUM’.

It’s time to turn the lights down low, huddle round the absinthe ritual fire and tell each other absinthe-inspired tales. They might be spooky, hilarious, ridiculous, or pure myth – if they’re good, we want to hear from you. The winner will get their very own lip-smacking magnum of Sebor Absinth. Email your stories to me at greenfairy@seborabsinth.com by 31st March 2007.
Congratulations to Brandon Nunn, who won last month’s pictures competition. A magnum is on its way! You can view Brandon’s picture and other entries in the Competition section of www.seborabsinth.com.

Probably the most horrible of all absinthe stories is actually true. In 1905 in Switzerland, Jean Lanfray, a well-known alcoholic, murdered his pregnant wife and two children after drinking some absinthe. However, what the Swiss public failed to acknowledge, in the ensuing hysterical backlash against absinthe, was that Lanfray had drunk a lot of other liquors too. Petitions were signed frantically across Switzerland, and in 1908 absinthe was banned. This incident, along with a similar one that followed not long after, has without doubt contributed to absinthe’s bad boy reputation that prevails today.

A couple of weeks ago, a lorry load of Sebor Absinth was stolen in the UK. We’re sorry that since then certain items have been out of stock on www.seborabsinth.com. We’re making sure that things will be back to normal as soon as possible. If anyone sees any Sebor Absinth for sale somewhere unusual, whether on the internet or anywhere else, we’d really appreciate an email so we can check it out: info@seborabsinth.com. Thanks for your help!
