Quang Nam organises travel festival

“Phu Ninh – Meeting Place” Festival was held on August 8-11 at the Phu Ninh Lake, Tam Ky Town, the central province of Quang Nam. The festival is a part of the Quang Nam Tourism Year 2006.

The festival started with an art performance. Tourists to the festival toured around the lake, Bong Mieu Gold Mine, hot mineral water, Su Island, Monkey Island and Chong Island.

Folk games, fishing or discovering beauty of the area also drew a large number of tourists during the festival.

Hoi An ancient town is preparing such cultural activities to welcome delegates representing 26 countries for the Tourism Ministry Conference of APEC taking place in October 2006.The photographic competition named ‘Hoi an in good eyes” is also organized to focus on pulicizing Vietnam.

Photographers can send beautiful photos (size;30x45) from early August to 22nd Sep. The winner will receive an award at the Art Exhibition in Hoi an during the click-off APEC Tourism Ministry Conference.

My Son to open at night

The My Son cultural heritage site will officially be open to visitors at night as of March 11, 2006, said Mr. Dinh Hai, the director of the Tourism Department of the central province of Quang Nam.

The management board of the My Son site invested VND 2.8 billion in an underground lighting system to increase the security of the artifacts at night and make them livelier.

A festival, “My Son - illuminated night”, will be held on March 11 under the framework of the National Tourism Year 2006, titled “Quang Nam - one destination for two world heritage sites.”

Quang Nam: Cu lao Cham to become special tourism zone

Quang Nam plans to develop Cham Islet, or Cu Lao Cham, into an international tourism – service zone with a special operation mechanism.

Turning Cu Lao Cham into a special tourism zone is included in the instruction recently issued by Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Secretary Vu Ngoc Hoang.
Mr Hoang said that resolution No 07 by the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee has emphasised the need to develop Cu Lao Cham, considering this an important part of the province’s tourism development strategy.
He said that Cu Lao Cham should be an international tourism zone with a special operation mechanism which will provide high-grade services and ecological tourism. The most important task for developing Cu Lao Cham zone is to harmonise the development and preservation, the tourism zone development and defense works and the development of Cu Lao Cham and Hoi An ancient town.
Quang Nam Peoples’ Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai said that in 2007 provincial departments would draw up the master plan on the socio-economic development of Cu Lao Cham. In addition, they will form the steering committee in charge of developing Cu Lao Cham into a special tourism zone in Quang Nam province.
Mr Hai has also asked Hoi An town to begin recruiting good staff for Cu Lao Cham.
In addition, Mr Hai also said that Hoi An needed to continue implementing projects on environmental improvement, biological diversification, and historical and cultural values preservation.

Most of restaurants in Quang Nam all serve fresh seafood with the reasonable price such as fish, crab, shrimp, cuttle-fish, oyster and shellfish. ... Especially, there is a very precious seafood in Cham island: Bird (swallow) nest. The bird nest has abundant quantity and high nutritious content. It could be used for medical treatment as well as for the nutritious meals and it is exported to many countries in the world with the average price of over 1200USD per kg.

Spending one whole day together with families making lanterns, guests can see with their eyes and themselves make all work stages: from sharpening bamboo, bending into frame, cutting cloth, sticking and completing lanterns under the guidance of enthusiastic craftmen. At noon, they can cook & prepare friendly meals with the owners. After saying goodbye, they will have meaningful souvernirs : The lanterns made by themselves.

Programme:
07h30: Tourist guide meets guests at a rendezvous place then takes them to a family making lanterns.
08h00 – 11h00: See some stages & learn how to make lanterns under the guidace of craftmen
11h00 – 14h00: Continue to make lanterns
17h00: Goodbye to the family, return to the rendezvous place with tourist guide.

Price: 14 USD – 25 USD/ 1 guest (depending on the number of passengers) including bicycle, guide, programmed activities & lunch. Children under 12 years get 50% off.
