I desperately needed to get one of these portable ice makers , since I live within a apartment where the fridge lacks an ice maker and getting is not an option. I waited until I discovered a unit for a price I was willing to be charged and this Emerson unit suit your purposes.

Yes, the unit can be big and heavy. But it is so great so as to have as much ice when you want whenever you wish. The unit makes ice brilliantly, in three different types. The cubes are slightly smaller than I expected, but that's OK. You may always select the large setting for bigger cubes. (It's my job to use medium.) The unit makes 9 cubes at a time, and it takes maybe 20 minutes to earn the first batch from ice, maybe 10-15 moments for consecutive batches.

The cubes are tubular in condition, with holes in the middle. The design makes them easy to put in Ziploc bags and store in the freezer until needed. (Whilst in run the machine regularly!) If they continue together, a little setback should separate the cubes.

A few things to keep in intellect:

Before using the unit for when, add a little vinegar to the water and let your machine run. Dump the ice and and drain the pool. Then, do a run by using some lemon juice inside water. Again, dump that ice and drain. Then perform a few runs with clean up water. If you don't achieve this, the ice will have a bit of a chemical taste, even right after several runs. (I thought various runs of plain water would get rid of the taste, but the idea didn't. The vinegar and lemon juice, however, did the trick beautifully.) Also, you'll want to probably use filtered water to get a cleaner taste. (I personally use water from my sink who has gone through my Pur facuet filter.)

The plug to your water drainage is Tiny. Be careful with that. Also, because the plug is indeed small, draining the water ingests a while. Gently tilting the gps device (carefully!) will slightly speed up the procedure.

So yes, the machine contains a few minor flaws, even so the convenience more than comprises for it. It is great to have ice each time needed, and it is so cool to watch the machine in action, when the built-in “spatula” scoops the ice and tilts it in the basket! This is one of the best kitchen appliances I possess ever bought, and I'm hopeful it will last in the past!
