Dai Hoang village, which is currently renamed as Nhan Hau village, is located in Hoa Hau commune, Ly Nhan district. The village belonged to Cao Da town, Nam Sang district in Ha Nam Province before 1945.

It is situated closely to the confluence of the Red and Chau Rivers or called Tuan Vuong three-way crossroads which is the fatherland of well-known writer Nam Cao, who is the writer of the renowned literature Chi Pheo and various valuable works. He received the “Ho Chi Minh’s Prize on Literature” in 1996.

People know Dai Hoang through its specialties, including Hong khong hat (persimmon with no pip) and Chuoi ngu (king banana). The well-known king banana was previously dedicated to the king, so it is called king banana.

It is said that in the Tran dynasty, the king accompanied by his retinue and officials sailed from the Thang Long Citadel to the Thien Truong Royal to visit his father yearly. There was one time they stopped for a short while at the Tuan Vuong three-way crossroads. People of the surrounding villages were very grad to receive them and dedicated rare and delicious dishes to the king. Among them, there was a very poor married couple who had nothing to dedicate to the king except for a small well-smelt bunch of ripe bananas. They cut the bunch down and dedicated it to the king with respect and hoped the king would sympathize with them. After watching the nice small bunch with yellow-ripened fruits and a green peduncle, the king called in the couple. He tasted a banana and felt it sweet and delicious. He immediately rewarded the couple and asked Dai Hoang’s farmers to expand the plantation of this kind of banana so that people across the country were enjoyed it. Afterwards, this kind of bananas has been called Chuoi ngu or King Banana and become famous throughout the country. Chuoi ngu is now planted in other parts of the country. Nevertheless, Chuoi ngu planted in those areas are not as well-smelt as those of Dai Hoang’s although their appearance is resemble.

Visitors are recommended to enjoy Chuoi ngu in the Dai Hoang Village or the My Tho Market in Nam Dinh Town , where Dai Hoang’s people usually sell their bananas in lunar 1st or 15th monthly.
