Rich in Love -- Chapter 32: Rescue Mission 101
Monday, 23. June 2008, 11:02:18
The day after Valentine's Day, Freshman Class E resumed their classes as if nothing happened. Of course, that included Kirsten, Sam, Jean and Luke.
"Hey," Kirsten waved sleepily at Luke who just entered the classroom....half-dead.
Luke slumped back on his chair, "man, I hate fan-girls," he fixed his tie. He stared at Kirsten and then, to Jean, "you two seem bored."
Jean smiled, "bored? not really," he said cheerfully.
Kirsten frowned, "odd. You're acting so strange."
"I am?" Jean pointed to himself which made Kirsten and Luke nod simultaneously.
"By the way, where's that girl?" Kirsten looked at her watch, "she didn't even show up in front of my dorm. I assumed she was here already."
Luke yawned, "she left early in the morning, as always. You didn't meet with her?"
Kirsten shook her head.
"Weird...," Jean said, biting his thumb.
Luke glanced at his watch, "she's going to be late, wherever she is."
"I wonder where she is?" Sam's best friend said worriedly.
Luke suddenly stood up, "there's no use in waisting time here. That girl wouldn't disappear without telling us. Let's split up to look for her."
"Rescue Mission 101!!!" Jean cheered, "we're like detectives," he said excitedly.
"Since when did you start naming stuff like 'Rescue Mission 101'?" Kirsten asked unbelievably.
Jean grinned, "well...."
Luke stared at him with a frown, "anyway, split up. 'Freak-man, go search the whole Excellent Building. 'Feminine-Guy', search the Sports Activity Center while I'll search at the Superior Building," he ordered.
"At least call our names," Kirsten protested, "it's 'FREEMAN'. Not 'Freak-man', you idiot."
But before she could finish, Luke and Jean ran out of the classroom to go to the assigned places. Kirsten sighed and shrugged, "boys...they really suck in a way."
---
Luke pushed his way through the crowd of girls that surrounded him. He wiped the sweat off his forehead when suddenly, he was blocked by a boy with a nerdy glasses. "Superior Department can be so annoying," he muttered under his breath as he went to a full stop.
"Halt,Excellent Student!" Dominique shouted, stopping Luke with one arm stretched out in a five-sign, "what is your business?"
"Since when was this your kingdom, Sir Shouts-a-lot?" Luke sneered.
Dominique snorted, "just because Lady Antoinette likes you, doesn't mean you can trespass here."
"I'm here to look for someone. So back off!"
"Dominique, please behave yourself!" a queen-like voice called from behind the crowd.
Luke tip-toed a little and saw a girl walking towards him, wearing her purple shawl and a necklace that said 'Queen'.
"Oh, my Lady!" Dominique bowed.
Antoinette laughed and turned to Luke, "what brings you in my side, Luke?" she fluttered her eyelashes.
Luke semi-rolled his eyes, "I know you know why I'm here."
"I don't," she smiled innocently.
Luke cleared his voice, "I want to know where you are keeping her. You're the only one whom I suspect the most."
"Why don't you find her yourself?" Antoinette pushed her hair back, "...since you two ARE friends. You should be able to know," she turned around and walked briskly away, passing the crowd of superior students.
Luke clutched his hand, "damn it all!"

EARLIER THAT MORNING...
Sam was about to enter the Freshman Girls' Dorm when suddenly, a golden-haired girl grabbed her by the shoulders. "May I help you?" Sam smiled at her.
"I want to have a word with you," Antoinette smirked, "do you mind if we step aside and go somewhere else to talk?"
Sam doubted for a second, but knowing her nature of being too naive, she nodded, "alright. If that would satisfy you," Sam smiled, "besides, I think I know where this is going."
--
"What do you want to talk about?" Sam's voice seem to echo through the whole floor.
Antoinette smirked, "Dominique," she snapped and in a flash, her servants and other schoolmates grabbed Sam by the shoulder and covered her mouth until she lost consciousness.
--
Sam slowly opened her eyes and groggily tried to stretch but she couldn't! "What the...?" she thought. She looked around but all she saw was pitched black. There was the irritating sound of silence that made hot tears swell up in her eyes. She couldn't talk for there was a tight cloth around her mouth.
"Help..." she thought, tears down her face. She tried to move around but there was no use. The rope tied her legs together and her hands tight behind her. She closed her eyes. She pictured a little boy opening the door with a bored look.
"Here you are, you idiot," the boys muttered with half-moon eyes, "you're really stupid, you know that?" the boy stretched out his arm, "here, grab my arm."
"When no one could find me in hide-and-seek, you easily knew where I was. How did you know? Are you a magician? Or do you just know me too well?"

"There you are, you idiot!"
Sam opened her painful eyes from crying. She looked towards the small opening and the boy stood there against the light.
"Luke...?"
He stepped into the small room and carried her out, princess-style. Outside the small compartment, Kirsten and Jean stood there worriedly. Luke pulled the cloth off her mouth, "who did this to you?" he asked worriedly.
"They even hid you under the auditorium stage!!"Kirsten exclaimed, crying as she hugged her friend, "how cruel!"
Luke continued to untie her, "does anything hurt?"
Sam shook her head, "not at the moment," she croaked. She could feel him carefully untying her arms, his hand lightly brushing on hers. She blushed, "thanks," she mumbled as she rubbed her free-hand.
"How foolish!"
The for of them turned around and stared at the girl standing against the light at the entrance of the auditorium. She had her arms folded, "she's always the one being worried about, huh?"
"Why are you doing all of these?!" Kirsten asked, "what did Sam do to you?"
Antoinette laughed, "don't make me laugh! I know you remember!"
"We don't!"
She walked towards them, "when we were elementary, Luke and this girl,"--she glared at Sam--"competed for the first place. But who was in the third place that also competed with you? Did you all remember who?!"
Kirsten's eyes widened, "that's right...the girl that held the third place but then she got transferred to another school...," she stared in horror, "it was you?"
"Ms Dean transferred me to another branch because I was intruding her daughter," Antoinette continued, "while I secretly hid behind the darkness, Samantha Blanc took everything away from me. Including Luke!" she faced Luke, "don't you know how I loved you for the passed few years? Those few years that I still cared."
"wait," Jean spoke up. He stared at Sam, "Ms Dean is your mom?!"
Everyone fell silent. "That's right! He doesn't know yet!!" Kirsten and Luke mentally cursed.
"Luke's father took my dad's riches away from him. Leaving us in partly-poverty," she cried, "I can't take it! All of you Excellent students deserve to take the superiors' places. Now you know what it feels like when something precious to you was taken away!" she glared at Luke with teary eyes.
"Your father invested everything in my dad's company. Even if it was my fault, you can't pushed it to someone else. I know you want me to feel pain but you see, the person you chose to hurt is no one special to me," Luke spoke. Suddenly, he felt a sting in his heart. What did he just say?
"the person you chose to hurt is no one special to me..." it echoed in the auditorium. He turned to Sam, "b-but, you know...it just..."
Sam frowned, "yeah," she faced Antoinette, "you can have him if you want. We're rivals anyway." She walked passed Antoinette, "and I know you loved him and I know you still do. So I think you should express your feelings in a positive manner," she whispered and left the room.
"You idiot," Kirsten mumbled to Luke.
Luke frowned, "damnit."
"You do like her," Antoinette weakly smiled, "I knew that. That's why I hated her. I can't stand it when you get near her. You deserved more than just her."
Luke walked passed her, "she's enough, I'm sure."
Antoinette fell down on her knees, "I'm so sorry," she cried.
Kirsten brought out a handkerchief from her pocket, which surprised Jean. By now, Luke was gone, and the three of them were left alone. Kirsten knelt beside her, "here you go," she smiled, "a pretty girl shouldn't cry."
Jean secretly smiled, "it's amazing how she can be gentle..."

Sam walked down the path towards the Excellent Building. They were late in their class and she knew that she was in for more trouble. Suddenly, as she was thinking too hard, she bumped into a tall man who dropped his books.
"Ah, I'm sorry," Sam apologized and helped him pick up his books.
The man smiled, "oh, it's okay."
Their eyes met.
"H-Hi, do you study here?" the boy asked.
Sam weakly smiled, "yes. Are you lost?"
"Can you tell me the way to Excellent Building?" he asked.
Sam nodded as she rose up with his books on her arms, "I'm on my way there," she held out a hand, "I'm Samantha. Freshman Excellent Department."
The man took her soft hands. With a beautiful smile as his brown hair waved through the wind, he shook her hand, "I'll be under your care," he smiled, "My name's Jared Taylor."
"Hey," Kirsten waved sleepily at Luke who just entered the classroom....half-dead.
Luke slumped back on his chair, "man, I hate fan-girls," he fixed his tie. He stared at Kirsten and then, to Jean, "you two seem bored."
