On the matter of dealing with Idiots

, , , ...

UPDATE : Well, he took down the original page (actually, I believe he made the post private) and put up a "revised" proposition. Check it out. I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure you'll find some insightful, delightful, mental gems in there.

I'm saving this comment that I made on this blog here, because I feel it could potentially be deleted soon. But I want to get this thought out there. Please feel free to disagree with me.
I will only answer your second set of questions because the first ones are questioning biological functions. Please take those up with nature.

A1. No it hasn’t. Men have been. (the tactic i’ve employed for this answer is called Dismissal)

A2. Are you nuts? Are you friggin’ delusional or something? Two decades ago? That’s it? “Girls” have been able to do things which were considered to be exclusively in the male domain for friggin’ ages. Have you even read the Mahabharata? (taking that as a common reference) Sri Krishna’s wife, Satyabhama/Satyadevi. A warrior and a very good one at that.

More contemporary and non-mythological examples. Marie Curie. Sarojini Naidu. Emmy Noether. Virginia Woolf. Indira Gandhi. Jhansiki Rani. I could look them all up and put them here. Suffice it to say they’re there.

This is exactly what I was referring to as misogyny. By you. This fight between the sexes didn’t start at the same time you were born. It has existed for centuries. Get over yourself you narcissistic idiot.

As far as the differences go, apart from biological differences, the only ones there were imposed by society. That’s what is wrong with people like you trying to find themselves to be better than other people. Stop it. Just stop trying to blame your short-comings on others. Realize this simple fact. You make your own destiny. It’s not just an optimistic idiom for life. It’s a harsh reality. That’s why people keep striving to better themselves. They’re not trying to be better than other people. They’re trying to be better than themselves. Do you understand what I’m saying?
(This tactic is called condescension)

A3. Jobs at businesses are made to make the company money. That is all that the companies care about. How they get their employees to do so in the last century or two is what you seem to think is the normal modus operandi. No. This is the result of two distinct philosophies colliding. The family is more intrinsically socialist while a business is capitalist. So when a company decides that an employee’s personal life is affecting too much of their money making ability they fire him/her. If it were a purely technical reason, then there are methods to fix it. Training, mentor programs etc. But because wall between the family world and the business world is millions of kilometers/miles thick, company personnel don’t bother to cross it. (This has changed in the past few decades or more. It’s just that some people (like you) haven’t understood this. Most of these people turn up in management and compound the situation.) Coming back to my main point, the company personnel not trying to cross over causes bad feelings in employees who generalize the situation and feel the company is against families. This leads to ill-will between management and employees. All this snow-balls into something much much worse and the company starts losing more money.

The other fact that you seem to be forgetting is, the definition of families has changed somewhat over the years. They are more so now, than ever before, capitalist ventures where heirs inherit their parents’ wealth. Gone were the days when what children inherited was their family’s name and prestige and all that came with it. Capitalist societies function thus. Families aren’t under threat, don’t be that afraid or paranoid. If you cannot handle having kids while having to earn a living, then hold off having kids for a while even after you get married. You’re still young, there’s a whole life ahead of you to have kids and raise a family. But don’t blame companies for not wanting to deal with people bringing their work home and vice versa.

Those are my thoughts. I sincerely hope you got something out of this.

As far as militant feminism goes, they’re the antithesis of male chauvinists. They need to be laughed at and ignored. That’s all. People who keep screaming against male or female oppression are just not smart enough to get their way and feel that throwing a tantrum is the best way to get what they want. These are those same people who as kids were told by their doting parents that they could have anything they wanted. These people tend not to grow up and act childish throughout their lives.

If there indeed was oppression by a male or female superior, there are easier ways to deal with the situation than holding your breath and bitching about it.

This place is dead.

In any case, still in search of that job thingy. Let's see how it goes.

Akshay was telling me the other day:

(22:15:51) Akshay: you should do a podcast
(22:16:00) Akshay: or a nightly news bulletin
(22:16:09) Akshay: you know, and call me on google talk or something
(22:16:12) Akshay: and have an interview
(22:16:17) Akshay: know what im saying?
(22:16:53) Akshay: duuude
(22:16:55) Akshay: i mean
(22:16:59) Akshay: had a brilliant idea
(22:17:12) Akshay: i'll do a talking-points show
(22:17:13) SB:: right
(22:17:17) Akshay: with you and metlin
(22:17:23) SB:: hey!
(22:17:25) Akshay: you == the liberal, pacifist left
(22:17:27) SB:: that's my idea
(22:17:30) SB:: ROYALTY!
(22:17:34) Akshay: metlin == the right
(22:17:42) SB:: screw you
(22:17:50) SB:: i'm authoritarian
(22:17:52) SB:: centrist
(22:18:00) Akshay: me == the cool, conan-o-brien-meets-colbert-isque news anchor
(22:18:01) SB:: not liberal at all
(22:18:26) SB:: but sure
(22:18:42) SB:: anything to cover dead air
(22:19:02) Akshay: i dont know, though, how to do a teleconference over the net

Well, I have the solution.

Make a blog in which the left and right representatives are members and then get a dialogue going. Someone initiates a topic, the others respond in the post rather than in the comments. This way, comments from site visitors stay away from contributor input.

We'll have more fighting done this way. There's a lower possibility of the parties missing the other's repartee.

Send me the check/cheque.

That's my week folks. Friday's the day off.

A coupla weeks ago, I made some buttons for Metlin's page. Check em out.

More widgets

If you haven't switched to opera yet and have put all your faith in vista/google desktop gadgets, poor you. I pity thee mere mortal.

With widgetize's magic, now every page that has an RSS feed can be widgetized. "But how Dr. Alamandrax? How is that possible?" you ask. fawnfawnfawn... (me laughing in a condescending french manner) and then point you here.

Let me make it simpler for you. Download this jscript file and save it to a secure location (somewhere that you wouldn't possibly delete/purge often). I used C:\Documents and Settings\[Your user name]\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\Widgetize\

Next, navigate to Tools>Preferences>Advanced>Javascript Options and add the path to the Widgetize folder in the box provided. Voila! Opera9 should get you your widgets.

Note. These commands work everywhere on the blog. Even in the fields where you enter your name (if you haven't signed up to my.opera.com).

Other commands which are good, but irritating when used spuriously:
Underline
Center Aligned text

List member

List member
(# is blank for bulleted, '1' for numbered and 'a' for alphabetic list - no quotes)
Quoted text
And use CODE in the square brackets for preformatted text which will be shown as faithfully as possible.

Normal html works too of course, but for my sake, try to keep the html valid and lower case.

As a rule I will delete all embedded objects placed in comments. If you think it ought to be published, put it on your website and link to it here. Same goes for unrelated images. We depend upon you the commenter to conform to Work Safety protocols and flag all comments which you think link to NSFW content in RED.
NSFW
I will also delete all tinyurl or other condensed URLs if you don't include the final destination's domain in a square bracket next to the link. The same for images.
your text[XYZ.com]

The man in the TV

, , ,

These aren't the first people that I've met who choose not to own a Television these days. The reasons vary, ranging from reliance on a PC for their connection to the outside world to business related discipline.

In any case, I've been trying REALLY hard to get myself onto the TV-free wagon. I fall off everyday at 11:00PM when the South Park syndication episodes air on the UPN21; and I have to have my British comedy on weekends.

Right. I need help.

This sounds like a good program. The name's pretty self-explanatory. I just think that it's a liiittle bit cheesy.

... and I get this.

Yes. I meant MY history; and yes. I am that conceited.

Anyway, funny how prissy and self-righteous I sound. I can just imagine it. After writing those particular comments, I must have mosied over to my colleagues and been totally condescending with them. God I feel terrible.

Interesting discussion nonetheless.

It's not just the incompetence

, , , ...

It's the sheer bloody mindedness of the entire thing.

Wouldn't it be better if the government were to get more contact between the corporations and the ISPs to suggest that pages be removed for content and let the host (blogger.com, opera.com, wordpress.org, ... etc.) have the option of blocking/removing content or advising the page owner to cease and desist?

The way the government's wording it, it almost sounds like, oh I don't know, if a blogger were to, let's say, speak out against a hypothetical institution, the IIPM for example, who were to be pissed with that blogger, who for our argument's sake said that their college was a fraud. They could then get the ISPs to block that particular blog now couldn't they? And the Government could say that this was justified.
