that's really wonderful (straight face - read "seriously awed").

I come from a line of pure-bred (read interbred community (although the community in question is HUGE)) south-Indian-Telugu-speaking brahmins.

leads to a really boring family tree description. all you have to rely on are personal accomplishments. how archaic.

heh. reminds me of an "incident". a boy from our extended family married a girl from the north. that's it. the boy's parents ostracised themselves from the rest of the family. just like that.

they were the most popular in the family. from a social standing and intellectual point of view. all gone. poof. didn't even see what hit ya.

the good from all of this was, i was surprised to see that my grandfather (father's father) didn't want to understand their reaction. he knew exactly what was going on, but refused to comprehend why they'd shun the family out of fear of rebuke.

the bad thing was, his words were, "atleast it's not a white/black girl".

had a quick spring action moment then. didn't know whether to be happy or pull my hair out. sigh
