Blogging Teenage Bloggers

, , ,

Blogs are created every day by those of all walks of life and of all ages. When it comes to the blogosphere, teens are becoming the cutting edge of blog writing. They are the first of those of us who have had the internet their whole lives and many teens have an innate sense of how to utilize blog technology in order to express themselves.

Older writers often experience a kind of learning curve when they begin to blog, but many young people find that using a word processor and blogging software feels more natural and direct a mode of communication than writing in a diary ever could.

Blogs have exploded in the teen world and have grown by leaps and bounds because teens are looking for both anonymity and visibility. The teen can tell their friends to read their blogs or write their own and there can be an automatic teen community to read and write blogs. The teen can even win praise for what he or she is writing.

The teen can send an email to his or her friends and get an immediate readership. The fact that one can blog anonymously makes for more honesty in communication and negates the possibility of humiliation. Teens often have fears of parents finding out what theyve written so that publishing under an alias tends to be a great idea for some.

Outside the world of blogging, teen writers often have very limited opportunities to be published. Magazines and journals are often reticent to publish young writers who may not have as much credibility as older writers with a lot of experience and extensive credits to their names.

Through blogging, teens can begin to gain a following of supporters without having to deal with a publisher or editor, who arent often interested in teen writers.

Between the fact that blogs provide young people with a chance to exercise their impressive technical aptitude, to gain visibility without compromising privacy, and to build a readership for their writing without having to jump through the traditional hoops of the publishing industry, it is little wonder that are so many teenagers with blogs.

This is partly why teens are flocking to blogs as a social endeavor that helps them meet those who have similar interests throughout the world. They can explore their self expression and will often receive positive feedback from others.

Blogging 101 is mostly about the blogging vocabulary. To understand blogs, you need to know the terms blog, platform, domain, and web host. Once you have mastered these key elements of blogging, you can enter any conversation about blogging with confidence. After you know what exactly a blog is, you will be on your way to passing the final exam of blogging 101.

Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. That's all! Most blogs are text, but there are also photo blogs and video blogs. The rest of blogging 101 has to do with the technical side of things. If you are setting up a blog, you will need a platform, a web host, and a domain.

The blogging platform is the computer software that allows the blogs to happen. It tells you how your blog will look to others. The web host is a lot like a filing cabinet. It stores all the blogs and when you upload a blog, you communicate with the web host.

The domain is the online address of your blog, and usually ends in dot com'. Now that you know what a blog is, what a platform is, and what domains and hosts are, congratulate yourself! You have passed blogging 101.
