Adjust your monitor brightness

, ,

If your eyes begin to hurt after a long (or even short) period of watching monitor (or tv for that matter) you should consider adjusting brightness of the monitor. In text processing/reading tasks you don't need full color gamma and such. So i find that tuning brightness or contrast to lowest setting I can read text clearly takes much of the strain off the eyes. Different monitor models behave differently. Some need the other setting be set to max or min value. And when you want to see images or movies you have to set the brightness up again.
At least for me this helps a lot. I can do a lot of monitor staring whole day without eyes hurting. They do tire, but not more than in case of regular book reading.
If you think of the power of the lamp/ray behind the glass of your monitor... and that you voluntarily look right into it... and that you blink 5 times less than usually - horrible!

Oh, and if you don't like the idea of hardcore dark screen, please do adjust the brightess to lower setting when lighting is dim. Its not possible that same setting suits in both sunlight and dark room...
