Fun trick for renaming channels.

Here's a way of renaming your channel on IRC, I'd use this if I ever had to rename #linux to something else:
  1. Register the new channel with ChanServ
  2. Run: /mode <#oldchannel> +lL 1 <#newchannel>
  3. Leave one user in <#oldchannel> to enforce +lL


Now anyone who would join <#oldchannel> would join <#newchannel> instead. Cool eh?
