Recovery Day and write up
It seems that the prior days death march through the forests of central Ontario provided not only a challenging day to say the least but my first blister in 10 years. Lets not discount this lightly, I climb mountains and hike very regularly using the same footwear. It truely was a hike from hell.
All of sunday has been a wash, as I hike the ever growing frontiers of my couch, fridge and consume litres of water in recovery. I feel as if I just ran a marathon with full pack on.
While its nice to sit around Sunday and relax, it was also a day of serious writing as I had to file a report about the hike leader who got us lost so often I thought it was a test. Did I mention that we ran out of water so often 20 people had hydration problems and 4 began to have hypertherma (too hot). The Bruce trail only takes formal complaints in writing and I have for most of the day been doing just that writing a full and complete report.
The Toronto Bruce trail is excellent in its training program of leaders for hikes and its very clear guideliness for new hike leaders but some old timers who have been hiking for years have not been required to take the course and thus the issue.
Lets include a insomia like day and we are off to the races alread at 3:33am.
Hmm, well 7am will come soon and still need to sleep.
