Allangie's mess

confessions of a Snow Queen

Cemetery

Every year before Easter (which is 27th of April this time) we usually go to the cemeteries to clean, paint and set in flowers...

It takes 45 minutes by bus and the same amount of time walking through the forest to get to my grandma's burial site.
Tiring and relaxing at the same time.

Cemetery in my country is some sacred place where you can't talk loud or laugh.

A fresh grave

I remember being kids, me and my cousin always wanted to play there, every grave sight seemed like a toy playhouse but it was prohibited.
So while adults were busy we've been cleaning abandoned graves and were proud of ourselves, feeling useful, like those whose bones rest under the ground would appreciate our efforts and good intentions.

Forgotten grave

Some old and uncared grave

This time I sneaked some pictures which I'm sure won't be approved by society

On the way back, although being tired ( my legs still hurt), we took time to stop and smell the roses  not the roses, of course, but to enjoy the forest and surroundings.

The weather was pleasant, birds were singing, fresh air tipsified, wind was rustling the leaves
Such a pity pictures can't transfer us there, don't give a sense of freedom and delight that sunny warm day of spring gave us.

P.S. Awesome pics from American cemetery here

The gangFriends will be friends, huh?

Awesome pics, Alla! It's so cool to see a piece of your world!

Darko 14. April 2008, 08:21

Almost the same as here, but you can assume this  Except one thing, our cemeteries are never in a wood :eyes: I wonder why is that so. Do you know, maybe?

ymie 14. April 2008, 08:26

Is it in Ukrain? It looks like the graveyard is situated in the forest. Too many trees. In Moldova where I live graveyards look more like parks - with alleys for people to walk, with roads for cars, more space, less trees.

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 08:34

Has someone just dumped a body by the river bank? :insane:

Allangie 14. April 2008, 10:43

Thanks, Karen !!! cool new avatar

Never in woods, Darko? Have no idea, our cemeteries are almost always in woods...maybe it has some sense, means something Homer: Doh! Dunno...

Ymie, it IS in the forest, a lot of trees and ravens are croaking. I bet thet place is spooky at night *shrugs* It's Russia  And that's in a country-side, so no alleys and parking

Aha, Mik :sing: They call me a Wild Rose but my name is Elisa Day....:sing:

Darko 14. April 2008, 16:32

I loved that song awww

Allangie 14. April 2008, 17:19

What I love is the happy ending: :sing: And the last thing I heard was a muttered word, as he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist...:sing: Beautiful

Darko 14. April 2008, 17:24

errrr.... maybe there is something wrong with me but I can`t see a happy ending there rip

night wolf 14. April 2008, 17:51

We got the same ceremony here but it`s every Thursday !! :faint: :faint: but we dont go any where !! becouse we would be Grave rider`s if we did so instead we give food to people around the block and if 1 person goes to the cometary he cleans the stone and put`s flower`s
may thy all rip

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 18:12

Eliza Rose?

Allangie 14. April 2008, 18:50

There's something wrong with you, Darko if you don't consider dying beauty a happy ending :left:

Great tradition, Amir :D!

Who's that, Mik

Darko 14. April 2008, 19:01

hmmmmmmm

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 19:07

The girl the song's about I think. Is it by Nick Cave?

Darko 14. April 2008, 19:12

Yes it is

Darko 14. April 2008, 19:14

upss, sorry, Mik asked you I think

JD 14. April 2008, 19:25

Awesome pics Alla.

Are you planning to stay their, because on the last picture it looked like you were planning to take a long nap. rip No but seriously that sounds like a cool tradition to do. The idea of having it in the woods is pretty intersting, but scarry if you are their at night. :D

Christopher DaSilva 14. April 2008, 21:46

Great photos! :D

I wanna be buried naked in the dirt. Nothing more natural than that.

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 21:53

Thought so. Can you remember the name? Anyone that can answer is appreciated mate, as long as they're not camped outside my bedroom window to get answers.
:D

night wolf 14. April 2008, 22:25

Is this her!!?

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 23:21

Why does that girl have one dog's ear on her head? :insane:

night wolf 14. April 2008, 23:29

Dog`s ear!! where!!:left: :eyes: :right: oww that`s the background...well guess it`s not her then,by you saying that girl!! :faint: i give up!

Santa Furie 14. April 2008, 23:39

It was this girl, last time I heard the song.

Christopher DaSilva 14. April 2008, 23:47

OH MAMMA. *w4*

Veronica Gisel 15. April 2008, 01:25

I usually go to the cemetery to see my grandma's grave... it's not tradition to clean it for easter, but we clean it once in a while so it doesn´t look that bad...
It's just one more quiet place for me, but there are still ppl who go play hide and seek there P:
Our cemetery is different, there is a part in which ppl are buried, but usually the tombs look like little houses...

Allangie 15. April 2008, 02:47

Tombs like houses...I know what you're talking about, Veronica  Rich people used to have buried in such tombs here before revolution happened in 1917

Veronica Gisel 15. April 2008, 03:03

I'll take some pictures some day I go... Not these days though, it's too cold P:

Allangie 15. April 2008, 03:18

Too cold :eyes:? Is it possible there ?

sukku 15. April 2008, 04:56

very enlightening....nice piece...

Allangie 15. April 2008, 05:47

Thanks, Sukku

sukku 15. April 2008, 07:53

Hope all is well with you....have a good day....

Allangie 15. April 2008, 08:04

Let's say I'll survive  Have a pleasant day!

sukku 15. April 2008, 08:10

Thank you :D

Kimmie 15. April 2008, 10:06

Love this post.

Allangie 15. April 2008, 10:31

Really, Kim ?

Kimmie 15. April 2008, 12:24

Yeah...

K C N Martínez 15. April 2008, 15:02

Wow...the cementaries in different countries are definitely different! :right: In Bolivia the cementaries are somehow sacred but people are allowed to talk, laugh and cry. I'll take a pic of it next time I go there!

Allangie 15. April 2008, 15:12

Yep, take pictures ! When are you planning to go there? Have you seen american cemetery I linked to? It's one of my most favourite photo albums here

Veronica Gisel 15. April 2008, 15:12

Yeah it's possible... we have just started autumn and it's already as cold as in winter... in the south it's already snowing... wow I wouldn't like to live in Ushuaia! bbrrr

Allangie 15. April 2008, 15:15

I just can't believe that ! What temperature is outside (so I could figure out what do you call "cold" )

K C N Martínez 15. April 2008, 15:31

I'll probably go in June! :D

Allangie 15. April 2008, 15:32

I thought you're going here in June awww

K C N Martínez 15. April 2008, 15:34

Yeah, I'll try to come before travelling to Bolivia! :D

Veronica Gisel 15. April 2008, 15:48

lol not as cold as there don't worry... it's probably 13 degrees Celsius, but do you know where Ushuaia is? I bet that cold is close to yours during winter...

If you go to Bolivia, you could go south a bit and visit me!

Allangie 15. April 2008, 16:08

13 degrees? we have the same temperature right now. I'm freezing :worried: The central heating is off already and last night I couldn't warm up and didn't have enough sleep due to that

Allangie 15. April 2008, 16:09

And Kerstin, please, TRY your best

K C N Martínez 15. April 2008, 16:55

I could definitely pay you a visit blondy! :D

I'll try my best, I PROMISE sis! :D

night wolf 15. April 2008, 22:24
