What happened in 2008?

2008 has been a good and eventful year. As I wrote those words, I didn’t think of what had happened in 2008, so they might not be true when this post has been filled out. Let’s see what happened:

January
I honestly don’t have many memories from this month. I believed I had gotten into one course at the university, but to my amazement, and by coincidence, I sent a mail to the lecturer trying to confirm this, but then she suddenly said that there were no chances in hell that we’d get into the course without having A++++ in grades or being a master or profession student... To hell with it! What’s the point of having an introduction course for people that shouldn’t need introduction with it? I had to choose another course, which didn’t quite get up to the animation course I ‘lost’.

February
I believe it was quite uneventful. I cannot recall anything that happened in February. At all.

March
In March we read about the courses at Oslo University College, and got intrigued by its approach. We applied for studying there, and also for a new student apartment.

April
Voltage, our World of Warcraft guild, was created. I quit two of my university courses as they’d be irrelevant when I started at OUC. I kept and completed Exphil, though.

May
I completed Exphil, drove to Trondheim to fetch Sondre’s stuff and started working 5 days a week at the summer job part at Mamut.

June
I started blogging here at My Opera! I got a Nintendo DS from Anniken for my birthday (although some weeks in advance). I watched the revelation of Diablo III with excitement.

July
We moved to our new apartment, I wrote a light weight version of Trafikanten’s “Rutetider” for use with my phone. I chose to go for a MSI Wind instead of an Asus Eee.

August
We went on a vacation to Ørnes, with varying weather. I started watching Angry Video Game Nerd and we got our MSI Winds at long last. My blog got redesigned, and we tried some sushi. The month was almost flawless, until some thieves broke into our storage area.

September
Not much happened this month, most events were realted to school, be it in web project, Java programming or discrete mathematics.

October
I got elected member of the week!, the web project commenced at a good pace and Opera 9.6 was released. Vimeo proved to be bitchy. I purchased an iPhone, and we carved some nice pumpkins for Halloween.

November
There were much school work going on, but I had the time to code and design ipwn.se before World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was released. School work was not forgotten, and we delivered our web project report. Lastly I redesigned the blog for Christmas.

December
I caught the cold in the beginning of December (and I still have it!), and much of the first weeks went to reading for the exams. I started teaching myself how to program in Python. When the exams were over, I went to Skien, and also tried out Twitter. Since December 17th I have been refreshing to check my grades both day and night. We built a new house, before we went to Ørnes. And here we celebrated Christmas.

Thoughts about redesigning the blogThe last 'ordinary' day of 2008.

Lets see what happened in general...

The world economy went into meltdown...
People lost jobs, homes...

In short pathetic year.

For me the best part of it was the Olympics...

Rest of the year, a total flop...

@kiseno_sora: I used the blog as my main source of events. The blog design is the December design, but it'll be changed in January

@Shaunak: Yeah, I didn't want to summarize world events, as the entry'd been 10 times larger then. You summarize it quite well, though.
