Good bye Eee PC, Y talo thar MSI Wind

,

We've discussed the past couple of days, and we figured that we'd rather want to spend additional 1000 NOK (about $200, €125) on a stronger, and hopefully more reliable computer. It's more powerful and has a larger screen, but it's only about 10% more in size than the Eee PC. It also has a large harddisk of 80 GB, compared to the Eee PC's 16 GB harddisk.

We've ordered a white Wind for Anniken, and a black for me. I am looking very much forward to it, and I hope that we'll get it before school starts up.

Eee PC postponed... AGAIN!

I am getting tired of this socalled professional company called ASUS. They've broken their promises numerous times with their Eee PC delivery already, and now they do it, again. The Eee PCs I preordered are now unconfirmed to arrive in one week. Seriously, ASUS. Professionality is a deed. And if you cannot deliver in time, how about giving some notice in advance? I mean more in advance than 12 hours into the day that you supposedly should deliver the computers?

The Quest of the Eee PC: Postponed.

As I have written earlier, I have pre-ordered an Eee PC from komplett.no. However, today I saw something saddening, they've post-poned their unconfirmed delivery date a week, so now it says that they believe, but cannot confirm, that it'll arrive July 17th.

Update (11:55): Now I got a mail from them, saying that it's expected to arrive the 23rd.

Asus Eee PC: Quest abandoned and retaken

You might have read my earlier entry about the Eee I was to purchase. Well, I abandoned the quest for that model, and retook the quest for a new, and better version: The Eee PC 900. This model has a bigger screen and four times the diskspace on the flash drive. And the best parts: It costs the exact same and it's black!

I queried Komplett.no about when it was to be delivered, and their response was "During July or August". Updates will come when I know more.

The quest for the Eee

About a month ago I preordered an ASUS Eee from ps.no, where they said it was confirmed to arrive at their storage location July 21st. However, ten days ago, vg.no posted this article, stating that the Eee was delayed until August. Of course, I got suspicios and looked back on the Eee's product page at ps.no. Yep, it did still says July 21st, and I did not think about it much.

However, today I figured that I'd try to ask ps.no about this contradiction. I got an answer really fast (like < 2 minutes after I had sent the first e-mail), stating that the consultant could only confirm that the shipment of laptops had its delivery date July 21st. I settled for this, and thanked for the consultants help.

But I was still suspicious, and sent an e-mail to the author of the article at vg.no. He too had obviously not much to do, and he said that he had acquired the information from ASUS, and that they had told him that it would arrive the first week of August.

We now have two different statements, making quite a difference between when I would get my laptop. I saw at Komplett.no that they too were expecting it in July, although 10 days after - July 31st, which could seem to support the journalist's first statement. I forwarded the mail to the consultant from ps.no, and hopefully I'll be able to get a clear answer out of him sooner or later.

I want my Eee before I go on vacation at August 4th.

Edit, June 12th: I've gotten an answer from ps.no, and they have asked their sales manager, but he had not heard anything but July 21st as the delivery date. Either Asus have mislead vg.no or ps.no. I hope for the first.
