Cranius and Summergale - Ulduar

, ,

Eventhough I am not a big fan of rap, Cranius, famous for his Big Blue Dress and Darrowshire, and Summergale, famous for her work with Nyhm in, amongst others, Ni Hao, are doing a superb job together in this song. It's really catchy and it's been running through my head since I saw it the first time.

Yeah, I know, it's a bit overgeeky and World of Warcraftish, but still. :smile:

Tonight's the night.

, ,

I've been getting ready for tonight for quite some time now. The time is near. Soon we will all face the fury of the Lich King. Yes, it's the new expansion for World of Warcraft I'm talking about. It's released by midnight, and I've been doing my tasks at school and had my hours at work so I can stay at home tomorrow. It's going to be fun to do something new again.

For those of you who think "Gee, an online game. Come on, that's not cool", I can only say that it's much like an anticipated new season of your favourite TV-show, just more interactive. I am having fun with the game, and tonight it's going to a new level, literally.

I'm rolling a new class -- a Death Knight, as I have played most other classes. I was lucky to get a glimpse of the class in the beta, and I had great fun with it. Resultingly, I've chosen (or rather I chose it when it was first announced) to stick to it.

I will post some updates regarding this on ipwn.se when the time has come. Until then, watch out for the Lich King's henchmen.

Way to go making your service useless to me! Let's hope I can still attain a copy of them. Otherwise, I'm going to get quite annoyed.

Weekends, weekends, wonderful weekends

, ,

After coming over this Friday's shock, we went down to try to fetch a pizza from the local pizza shop, but it was for some reason closed half past eight on a Friday evening. What's up with that? Instead we went to the grocery store and purchased some Fjordland, which is pre-made food that you only need to boil in your pans and voilá you have an advanced meal.

We've also been chilling out quite some with World of Warcraft, where we've started levelling a Warrior and a Priest, me being the latter. It's alright to do something else until the expansion, but everything seems to point to the pre-expansion patch coming this Wednesday, so whether we'll continue to play on our small alts or do something else, I am uncertain. We are now respectively level 27 and 26.

A song has struck my mind as pure beauty. Somewhere over the Rainbow and the version Israel Kamakawiwo'ole performs. It's awesome in every way. I've embedded it in the bottom of this post so you can watch it yourself. Anniken was so surprised that I hadn't seen Wizard of Oz, so we followed the yellow brick road and watched it last night. Although I think Kamakawiwo'ole, the man with the name that just rolls ever so good on your tongue, has the best version of the song I've heard until now.

Wrath of the Lich King!

Today I woke up to find a beta key for Wrath of the Lich King. I've been playing a bit around with a Human Death Knight, and I've put up an album of his journies.

Wrath of the Lich King Beta has started

For those that keep themselves up to date with World of Warcraft news, you probably know this already, but yesterday the beta for Wrath of the Lich King started. Eventhough I haven't received any tickets yet, I did sign for the Massive Mod Author Wrath of the Lich King Beta Key Give-Away at WoWInterface.com. Who knows, perhaps I will be a Death Knight soon afterall? If I get into the beta, I will probably create a Human Death Knight, in the spirit of my old Paladin, Sithlian, here pictured by an old friend and Silvermoon player - Liolari, master of Druids.

Unit frame layout popularity?

, ,

I have created a layout for some minimalistic unit frames named oUF, and this week I managed to paste them into a thread at World of Raid's Raid Leader UIs thread. I should have anticipated that something was around, as I received 3 distinct PMs on the forums (up from none) and even got someone creating a level 1 character on the realm I play on and then whispering me, asking whether I used this or that, and where to obtain the unit frames. Of course they hadn't been released yet, and now I am trying to obtain permission to release them, as the textures used are made by another UI author; Halcyone.

I dispatched a PM to him:
Greeting Halcyone, and first of all thank you for some wonderful statusbar textures you've created to suit your Hal's UI compilation. I greatly admire your work, both with those textures and with the rest of your UI.

I have created a layout for the popular minimalistic unit frames oUF (http://ixo.no/git), and in that layout I have used your statusbar textures. However, I have not yet released it to public, as I am awaiting your response to see if I am allowed to use them. If not, I will just have to use another texture, although I certainly hope you will grant me permission to use them. If permission is granted, I will see to it that those that should find to download it knows where they come from.

Should you be interested in knowing how these unit frames look like with your textures on themselves, please look in the upper left portion (okay, everything that looks like unit frames) of the screen at this image: http://ui.ipwn.se/i/223.jpg

Awaiting your response. :-)

Regards,

Amnith

Hopefully, I'll get allowance from him to publish the unit frames as they are at wowinterface.com. :smile:

Making speed at the Darkmoon Faire

,

I woke up early this morning, so I sat down in front of my computer hoping to snatch up some goodies in World of Warcraft from the good Darkmoon Faire vendors. I logged on, and found that I was constantly being cheated by a Human Paladin which sat there with his <AFK> tag and automatically checked the vendors every 10th second or so. At first I tried to just snatch the items before him, but I soon found that he was too fast for me. So I figured I'd look for a macro to help me out. I found one, which was in quite poor condition, so I refreshed it and it looks something like this:

/run SelectGossipOption(1) f=strfind for i=1,GetMerchantNumItems()do n,_,_,_,r,_,_=GetMerchantItemInfo(i)if(f(n,"Mana")or f(n,"Ruby")or f(n,"Night")or f(n,"Dawn")or f(n,"Lotus")or f(n,"Cleft"))then BuyMerchantItem(i,r)end end CloseMerchant()

It looks damn ugly, but it's compressed as I can only use 255 characters in macros. What it basically does, is that it selects gossip option 1 (which is "let me browse your goods" or equal at the two vendors, but only really useful at professor Thaddeus), and then tries to search through the items for something with names "Mana" (-thistle, -potion, etc), (Living) "Ruby", "Night" (-seye), "Dawn" (-stone), (Fel) "Lotus" or (Heavy) "Cleft" (-hoof Leather), and if found, then buy it. When finished searching through, close the merchant frame.

Hopefully, I'll beat him, sooner or later.

Hello world!

, ,

using System;
class HelloWorld
{
    static void Main()
    {
        Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");
    }
}

Okay, perhaps I should not scare all that would dare (hirr) to read this blog away. I am a computer science student located in Oslo, with great interest for web programming and designing. I am running several other blogs, but this could probably be somewhat more "casual", and perhaps people would even read it. Perhaps.

I also have an interest in gaming, and then in particular MMO games such as World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online, and I am playing more or less casually in both of those games. I am longing for the upcoming game from NCsoft, Aion, which, from what it looks, will be amazing. Recently their website was put up, and I am looking more and more forward to playing it.

More about me, I live in a small flat with my beautiful girlfriend (whom I might get to blog at my.opera.com too), but we're moving 1st and 2nd of July. That's going to be so great, as we are living on the top floor with only one great window in the living room. That's right, no windows in our bedroom, and thus it gets incredibly hot during the summertime. But from July -- NO MORE!

There are not very many more things to tell about me. I am soon turning 22, and life's good. If you follow this blog (at least sporadically), you will probably get to know me better. If I'm the Prime Evil or actually a nice guy, it's up to you to decide.
