Wicked game

, ,

I remembered about this video, some days ago. I think it is very well done and I wanna share it with you. By the way, Helena was such a beauty, expecially with that elegant and deep black and white.

I also dig the song itself, one of the best ones from mr.Isaak, in my opinion. Lyrics are quite wise too I guess, so here they come :

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you.
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you.
And I never dreamed that I knew somebody like you.

No, I don't want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I don't want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you. With you. (This world is only gonna break your heart)

What a wicked game to play, to make me feel this way.
What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you.
What a wicked thing to say, you never felt this way.
What a wicked thing to do, to make me dream of you and,

I want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you.

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you.
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.
I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you.
And I never dreamed that I'd loose somebody like you no,

No, I want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I want to fall in love. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you. (This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I... (This world is only gonna break your heart)
(This world is only gonna break your heart)

Nobody loves no one.

Chords are basically Bm A E , with some arpeggio and vibrato here and there to make it sound fine on acoustic too. Give it a try, singing and playing it can heal.

By the way, this blog is about graphics and art, and I posted this cos I think it's art and it's also inspiring, at least for me. I hope you enjoy it.

Microsoft Photosynth

, , ,

Photosynth is an amazing piece of software, really. I followed it since its early releases and I can't stop being amazed by the possibilities it is suggesting to me. It basically gets a bunch of photos taken in a location and organize 'em in a 3D space, allowing you to move around that space, jumping from photo to photo, zooming in and out the scene and the photos themselves, and so on. Anyway, just go to its site, install the small plugin and have fun exploring all the locations that have been already mapped! Of course you can start creating your own synths if you want, maybe using the new Windows Photo Gallery beta

Note : since we are using our beloved Opera, and since Photosynth plugin is expecting to work with Internet Explorer or Firefox, we have to do a little trick :

  1. go to Photosynth site

  2. from the menu, select Tools > Quick preferences > Edit site preferences (Mac: Opera > Quick preferences > Edit site preferences)

  3. click the "Network" tab

  4. in the "Browser identification" drop-down, select "Identify as Internet Explorer" or "Identify as Firefox"

  5. click "OK"

  6. reload the page

This way Photosynth on Opera will work just fine

Alchemy

, , ,

Reading a post on ConceptArt.org forum I found this little gem : it is called Alchemy and it's definitely a different approach to the digital creation of visual imagery. Basically it gives you a canvas to paint on using vectors, and your instruments are not the usual airbrush, fill, gradients, meshes etc : instead of them, you get modules allowing you (for instance) to control the width of the stroke by your microphone input, or draw using randomly generated shapes, or pick colors from your webcam live streaming and using them for creating shapes -- and so on. Yes, it's weird -- and amazingly inspiring too.

This is their website : http://al.chemy.org/, where you can read interesting info about the software, get its manual, get the software itself by filling a form, watch videos and get into the forum.I suggest you to fill the form to get the software, but you don't want to do so, you can get the software directly from this link.

Anothe interesting feature is the possibility to record your creation steps as a multipage pdf, chosing how often to take a "snapshot" of the work in progress canvas.

Give it a try and post here your creations as comments if you want to share them! This software is truly inspiring and fun, and it gives the artist a way to just let something happen, without worrying too much. It's almost a zen apprach to creation, after you get used to the modules and their way of working. What you accomplish in Alchemy can then become the starting point for a real sketch or a digital painting (you can export the shapes as vector or bitmap and send them to your favourite software). I'm finding Alchemy to be perfect way of getting me in the right mood for drawing and painting, helping me fight my lazyness

Have fun and keep creating!

Twitter

, ,

I started using Twitter and I'm curious about who's using it, among my.opera users. If you happen to read this post and you wanna give me some feedback, you can reply to it and/or vote on the poll I created! You can find it in my sidebar. Thanks! P:

I'm actually liking Twitter quite a lot, expecially cos I can post on it via email from my cell phone (same thing I can do with my.opera, and I like that so much). It'll come handy when I'll be travelling in Russian Federation again.

Have a nice day!

Just sharing some good feelings :)

It makes me feel so peaceful and happy to listen to this song, so I want to share it with all of you. Thanks to Liu that did bring this back into my life
