How to make a Blog and create your own Marketing Strategy

,

A few years ago I carried out my own research on how to make a blog and I naively thought quickly get the blog built and wait for the money to come pouring in. Then I could relax, work an hour or 2 a day, become a millionaire and travel around the world after just 2 months of hard work.

Well, that’s what all the Internet Marketing ads promised would happen.

Guess what?

Years later, I am not a millionaire, I work a few more hours than 2 hours a day and I am definitely not travelling around the world.

It was a long, long way from reality.

I quickly found out that Internet Marketing is not necessarily a quick way to make money, is extremely complicated and much more difficult than simply building a blog. But you have to start by building a blog!

But before you build your blog, ask yourself these questions:

1. “What’s the strategy for your Internet Marketing business?”

2. “What are your customers looking for?”

3. “How are you going to market your products and services?”

Do you have an Internet Marketing Plan for your business?

Answering the 3 questions above would be a great start to creating your Internet Marketing plan.

The basic steps are:

Strategic planning
Customer analysis
Internet marketing

Strategic Planning.

What is your overall strategy for your business? Are you going to create product after product after product in the same business areas or are you going to diversify into a number of different areas?

What is going to make your business stand out from the rest?

What are the overall aims of the business? Income? Sales? Products? Customers?

All these questions determine what your business will look like in the future. Knowing that will help you establish the steps you have to take today, tomorrow, this week, next week and next month to move the business forward.

Bear in mind, you never reach your strategy. Why? Because you should always be looking ahead and changing your business strategy.

Customer Analysis

How much do you know about your customers? In order to effectively market to someone, you have got to know what he or she is looking for. What are their pains, their ‘problems’? The better you understand the type of person you are marketing to, the better. And please don’t say, ‘everyone needs my product’.

Internet Marketing

This is a huge subject, but basically how are you going to advertise your business on the Internet?

Newsletters?

Article Marketing?

Search Engines?

Blog Carnivals?

To be effective, most probably all of them.

Getting to grips with these 3 steps, will help you on your way to creating your web marketing strategy and help you be much more successful.

Start your online business by finding out how to make a blog

How To Make Blog is easy with WordPress

I’ve been building websites and blogs for 3 years now and the easiest way on how to make blog is definitely with WordPress.

My first website was a fully functional website using a Content Management System (CMS). Then I created my own Article Directory using special software.

But by far the easiest and quickest way to make a blog is using WordPress.

No matter what software you use, though there are two major conceptsyou must either learn yourself or have enough money to employ others to do for you:

1. Copywriting skills
2. Getting traffic to your site

Copywriting Skills
Over the years I have purchased numerous products to learn about copywriting – e-books, videos, audios. Some good, some really bad (and making sure I got the refund!).

And yes, my copywriting skills improved…but not to the level I wanted.

So, I thought…who do the big internet names, you know the gurus go to for their copywriting. I carried out some research and one name kept coming up…John Carlton.

You heard of John Carlton, the Internet and Copywriting supremo?

Well if you haven’t let me just say, John is the guy who helps the likes of Frank Kern, John Reese, Jeff Johnson, Yanik Silver, Rich Schefren, Terry Dean, Dan Kennedy, Gary Bencivenga) with their copywriting requirements.

So I made a decision. I decided to join John’s Simple Writing System course. It cost me quite a lot of money but it was the best money I have ever spent on an Internet Marketing type course.

It was perfect for me – a structured modular approach. Do A, get some feedback from John (and other experts), then do B (get more feedback), then do C…

Now there was one thing that the vast majority of students kept mentioning and that was WordPress. They all used WordPress to build their blogs and websites.

So, that vastly improved my copywriting skills.

But on it’s own, it’s worthless really. You may have great copy but if no-one sees it, you’ll never make any money.

So how do I get bundles and bundles of traffic to my sites?

I asked John Carlton for some advice/recommendation. He said Jeff Johnson would be perfect for me.

So, I check out Jeff and see that his course is all based around WordPress.

Everyone is recommending WordPress!

I do some research and see that WordPress is firstly free, secondly easy to install and thirdly, thousands are raving about it.

I register and host a new website domain. I learn how to install WordPress. I play with WordPress. This is easy, simple and efficient. I cannot believe how easy it is.

Plus WordPress has an amazing list of features.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Friendly

This is crucial when building a website or blog. WordPress has a number of functions that make it search engine friendly. Google loves WordPress.

The Support

Millions of people use WordPress and there is a large user community who develop and support the software. So any problems, do a quick search and you’ll find the answer.

Hardly Any Coding

If you want a basic SEO friendly website (and WordPress will give you one)…you don’t need to code ever again. Adding and changing your website is easy with WordPress.

Add-On’s (otherwise known as plug-ins)

There are thousands upon thousands of free plug-ins you can use with WordPress software to make your blog unique.

So, I am now converted to WordPress. I use it for all my sites.
