Political Stuff

There is so much chatter in the news about the upcoming elections that I felt inspired to write about it. Some things that are
being burned into my mind are the rumors about Tennessee Senate Candidate Harold Ford being
'black' as the adds say. HMMMM who would have GUESSED? Anyway, in short, I would vote for
him if I lived in Tennessee, despite the fact that he hangs with playboy bunnies at football
parties. Shows normalcy in my opinion and that is a rarity in US politics. Limbaugh is also
accusing Michael J. Fox of exaggerating his Parkinson's disease symptoms. Read more here. And Bill O'Reilly on Oprah, him showing
his a$$ as usual and not wanting a United States actually unite only made me nauseous.
Late Night Jokes/Quotes
"The election is three weeks away and there are rumors the Republicans are getting ready for an election night disaster, which would be a first -- a disaster they were actually prepared for." --Bill Maher
"On Tuesday, the U.S. population hit 300 million. 'Oh, that's so cute,' said China." --Amy Poehler
"If recent polls are correct and Democrats win back control of the House and Senate, President Bush's administration will be transformed into an early lame duck. Worse, Cheney will then shoot it." --Seth Meyers
"This is a bleak time for the Republican Party. You know you have trouble when the least embarrassing guy in your group is Arnold Schwarzenegger." --Jimmy Kimmel
"In Las Vegas, a 32-year-old mother told police that Republican Congressman Jim Gibbons, who is running for governor in Nevada, got drunk, put his hand on her thigh, complained about his marriage and then tried to have sex with her in the parking garage. A congressman trying to have sex with an adult woman? This is the best news Republicans have had in years." --Jay Leno
"Elections are only a few weeks away and it looks like the Republicans are going to lose a lot of them. I guess desperate times require desperate measures. [on screen: RNC's TV ad depicting another terrorist attack by Osama bin Laden, followed by a reminder to vote 11/7]. Let me get this straight. Osama bin Laden is threatening to attack America again, so what we should do is vote for the people who haven't been able to catch him for the last five years?." --Jimmy Kimmel

I guess many people are not interested in politics.
Oh yeah, I found a ring today that matches the cross necklace.

I have never heard of or seen Bill O'Reilly until that Oprah show.
I have to say...(ducking behind big stone wall)...I appreciated what he had to say. I understand that he is very,- well...hard to describe.."pig-headed"?, a tad obnoxious?...
I think there should be more people out there standing up for correct morals...maybe in a "not-so-obnoxious" way. You have to admit though...Bill gets his point across!
& I heard that about Limbaugh...I bet he is pretty darn sorry he ever said anything... we all say things we regret...fortunately we are not in the media..
There...I'll step off of my soap box now...

Furthermore, Rush suggested that Fox possibly was acting because, despite all of his movements, he ALWAYS stayed in frame; and these political ads are very carefully done; that is, Michael Fox didn't step in from the street and do one take, and that was it. Everything about a political ad, especially one with Michael J. Fox, is going to be done right. My guess is, at least half a day was spent on taping that 1 or 2 minute spot alone.
In the alternative, Rush suggested that Fox went off his meds for this presentation because Fox admits in his own writing that he would go off meds when he spoke to Congress about his condition. But, even though there was news for 2-3 days about mean, mean Rush beating up on Michael J. Fox, not even Rush's rationalizations were given. You were given sound bytes, which did not represent in any way the gist of what Rush had to say, or even the rationalizations which Rush offered for his thinking, and you made your judgements on these soundbytes.
By the way, the apology that the media hated that Rush did--the conditional one? Rush did a conditional apology until Fox admitted that he was over-medicated, and then Rush did a full-out, unconditional apology on-air. Every report I saw had only the conditional apology, which had been delivered 1-2 days previous to the reporting.
If you don't think that the media is biased or that you are being told how to think and how to vote, you are kidding yourself. The media will rarely give you the whole story; in this case, not even 10% of the truth.
On the other hand, I felt that Ophrah was pretty good to Bill O'Reilly, despite the fact that they differ so much politically. I felt she gave him a fair shake on her show, and enjoyed it very much. I am not a big Ophrah fan, but I have a lot more respect for her after seeing this show.
