I have this friend that, by the way, I have no idea how they were added to my emailing list. But nonetheless they are sending me emails. Some are great fun and laughs and others are just a little on the edge of controversy. I felt this was the latter..........but I want to share it anyway to make a point that our fears are true and coming true as you can I read this. The computer techs of the future are going to have to move to another country to achieve and retain a decent job.

What is our country coming to? What is going to happen in the future to our state of financial being here in the USA? I am honestly happy for the other countries that are moving forward and onward to a more productive and secure state, but why do we have to loose jobs in the process? This being said, I now want to wish everyone a happy and productive Saturday.

It is not a fear of technology. It is commerce. People in foreign land will work for less money, so companies, in an effort to increase their profits, are choosing to outsource.

I understand this more than a lot of people. I have a Bachelor's Degree in IT and I am selling imsurance for a living.

It's the same here in Australia and it sucks. There is a glut of IT workers in the market and now, they're resorting to pulling shifts at places they are far too over-educated for.

And, it's not only in the IT industry. You will probably find that a lot of call centres are being outsourced to India.

It's unfortunate that many companies feel they must put their profits, their CEO's paypacket and their shareholders above the community and their employees.

As a result, many jobs are being outsourced in order to make a quick buck. This is at the expense of their country of origin's economy. What these morons don't seem to understand is simply this:

If you keep outsourcing your work, then more people become unemployed. As a result, it puts a great strain on Government social security resources. It also begins to alienate some clientele, because frankly, who wants to talk to someone thousands of kilometres away that can barely understand, let alone speak fluent English?

This sort of business practice needs to be outlawed. I am under the belief that Australian companies should be forced to hire within the borders of Australia for tasks such as Call Centres and IT work; and quite frankly, any other jobs that have been outsourced to O/S countries.

I think that the Americans need to do the same thing. Unfortunately, this will not happen, because the greed of these businesses is so phenomenal, it can only stand to get worse in the future. One has to wonder why many people even bother to go to University if all that awaits them is a job in their local Starbucks...
