My New Hobby

, , , ,

I have started a new hobby! yes It is nothing exciting, just knitting and crocheting. A good friend of mine suggested that I get a hobby to keep myself busy if I am bored, so that is what I do. After researching different crafts, I decided on knitting and crocheting for the simple fact that it is so easy and the reward is great. Google video has tons of videos on how to start knitting and crocheting for anyone who is interested. smile

Project 1,(knitting) beginning of a scarf.....

Project 2 (crocheting) doll bib

Project 3 (crocheting) doll hat! (I think) smile lol

You are an artistic person and these hobbies do suit you well. Good luck and we'd like to see more of your work as you do it up

CherylDuckyChickenLady Tuesday, February 6, 2007 6:27:14 PM

You go girl!!! Soon you'll be knitting undies for your man! wink
Anyhow, I can actually crochet...just not follow patterns. And I can knit straight...so, a scarf would be the only thing I would be able to do. I used to crochet baby blankets all the time. I did one for my nephew before he was born. heart

I am truly amazed at this craft.
I sit and watch the wife tying thousands upon thousands of knots.
She does 4 or 5 afghans a year....it blows me away.smile

Afghan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
the term Afghān refers to the citizens of Afghanistan.

David, you are truly a tolerant man.

I agree:D Want to see the stuff. Your whole family dressed in big sweaters...pleease share:D Knitting makes me think of my grandma...she was really good at it. I´ve had socks that´s 25 years old!!! Should have kept them...just for the memory:)

Nice! Knitting and crotcheting is nice, if you have the patience to make something and finishing it! I stick to smaller projects as I don´t have the patience to keep making one knot after the other endlessly. I prefer to sculpt or paint! The colors are wonderful, fun and cheerful! up

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Wednesday, February 7, 2007 6:22:42 PM

Aida,
I will. This morning I began working on another...a hat. It is adorable and I will post pics, I pinky promise that I will post pics. smile

Nicolas,

Big sweaters? I don't know if I am ready for that just yet. wink But I will work up to the point of 'making sweaters' That would be so nice. :)Knitting was very important in the older days, most people had to make their own socks and sweaters...smile

Issy,
The repetition is what I love about it. smile Looking forward to seeing more of your work. smile

Knitting is very soothing. And you can comfortably sit on the sofa and wach TV with one eye or listen to the music. I've been knitting since
8th grade at school. We had knitting lessons.

Love,
Ramute.

Ah, Sarah ... you're a (ahem) 'Perl' ... wink

Curiously, you can combine knitting and blogging (uh ... as you already have).

If you want to see what other hobbyists/enthusiasts/generally crafty people are up to out there, just enter "Knitting Blogs" into Google. smile (Posts aren't always about knitting, of course).

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Thursday, February 8, 2007 6:13:01 PM

Hi Ramute, That is so nice to do, watch tv and knit. smile I also learned to knit and sew in school at an early age, but sort of lost the talent over the years. I think it is slowly coming back to me. smile

Hey there David,

I really got a lot of info on google video as well as you tube wink Great idea to look up blogs with that info on it as well.

smile

Nicolas Borgsmidtnopanic Friday, February 9, 2007 5:08:47 PM

Forgot to tell..the klicking sound of knitting is very relaxing. I often fell asleep in one of my grandmas deep armchairs while listening to her knitting and softly humming:zzz:

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Friday, February 9, 2007 5:17:49 PM

Ohh that is a wonderful memory to have! smile

Nicolas Borgsmidtnopanic Friday, February 9, 2007 5:29:25 PM

Yes:up:And her big clock going doc....doc...doc...doc..zzz

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Friday, February 9, 2007 7:43:48 PM

Oh yes, I have the clock memory as well. My parents always
had the clocks that chimed so loudly on every hour and half
hour, but somehow it was soothing. smile

My wife loves to knit as well - we go nowhere without a ball of wool. A very warm woolly hat for this cold weather is one delightful product of this. Enjoy! smile

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Saturday, February 10, 2007 6:29:13 PM

Thanks Richard. smile
