Caring About the World

I was watching the news (reluctantly) this morning and reports were made that the US Senate backs the pull-out of troops in Iraq by March '08.

I do pray that the right decisions are being made in this case, I pray for the families on both sides of the war, I pray for the country of Iraq to have a balanced system that does not involve murder of innocent people, I pray for a society in Iraq that they consider 'normal'. The government gets so involved in paperwork and pride that they do not see what is happening to the people in this war, on both sides. War is hell, yes, but it doesn't have to happen in the first place. I don't understand how a man can be so unmoved that he is willing to sacrifice family, people of the country, and their own lives to be right. I just don't get that. Not in a million years will I ever understand how a man can be so unmoved. That is the exact reason that we need more women leaders in this world, yes, you men are not going to agree; please open your blind eyes and try to see it from another point of view. ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW. I found these photos in photobucket and wanted so much to share them. There is no way to write the person that took the photo to ask for permission, so I suppose I have stolen them.....his album here.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Defying President Bush, the Democratic-led Senate on Tuesday turned back a Republican attempt to remove a call for U.S. withdrawal from Iraq from a $124 billion war-spending bill.

You might be right! Maybe we do need more women leaders in the world. I have been reading some horrific stories of US soldiers in Iraq killing and raping innocent people in the most calculated of ways. And I can't help but think that they should not be there. The war in Iraq is just a method to push GW Bush's own agenda. There is no nobility in this war in Iraq.
Why should innocent people (civilians & soldiers) have to be the ones to pay the price?

Just thought I'd provide a little statistical information regarding female vs. male leadership.
Now let's look at how the Congress and House measure up to the American population...
Male/Female: The U.S. population is 51 percent female. In Congress, however, 90 percent of the lawmakers are male, 89 percent in the House of Representatives and 93 percent in the Senate.
Race/Ethnic Makeup: The U.S. population includes 12 percent African Americans, 9 percent Hispanics, and 3 percent Asian/Pacific Islanders and other groups. Congress, however, is 87 percent white; 85 percent in the House and 96 percent in the Senate.
Age: The median age of the U.S. population is 32.9. Yet the median age of the members of Congress is 53.
Occupation: Of the total U.S. work force of 124 million people, only 6 percent are lawyers. Yet 45 percent of the members of Congress are lawyers.
In a recent poll, 83 percent of those surveyed did not feel that Congress was in touch with the American people or their interests.

as soon as i gather my wits after a camping trip which was so full of happy impressions, i will post a serious essay on the subject.
so, since lee wrote his blog as a reaction to your post, i am pasting my comment there, here.
"history tells us of periods in ancient times which were matriarchies.
it could be that we are entering just such a period now.
it will be a golden age.
you wonder how i know that. it's so simple.
the ladies are not prone to destroy other human beings.
in general, they do not shirk from the work of keeping things clean and organized.
and finally, the women dream only of a happy home.
a matriarchy would be good for the earth. and the earth desperately needs a vacation."
