If it makes you feel better, I saw fireworks on Sunday (Canada Day). We were swarmed by mosquitoes!!!
I hate them too...who likes them? Happy belated 4th of July!..Our baby goat was born yesterday!

There's an ointment that the Chinese uses to keep mosquitoes off of ya... The smell is too strong for them and it cools yr skin at the same time... IF u r bitten by one, it soothes too, so u won't scratch it.

I dunno what u call it in English but in Chinese, it's "Feng Yiu" or "Fung Yau". In Malay, it's called "Minyak Angin". Maybe u need Aida, fbaggins, to translate it...??

Calamine doesn't deter the mozzies from biting u in the first place... This Asian thing... It's clear, transparent and it's an oil.

I think it would be called "mentholatum oil". That would be appropriate because of the mentholatum properties in it. U might have something like that in yr American and European countries, I'm sure... Lemme know if u find it or else, I'm gonna have to send u some from Malaysia!

Yes... The next time there's a mosquito oil swarming alert, whip that bottle out and apply on yr bare skin... Don't put it on yr face though!

It's good for cooling off a feverish temperature too... This is a very essential thing for the Chinese and for some weird reason, they work too!!

I use it when my head/tummy aches, when I'm about to get a fever, when I'm being bitten to death by mosquitoes.

Yup, yup... Ancient Chinese medicine sounds funny to the modern us, but only goodness knows how exactly clever these Chinese doctors are cos their stuff DO still work!

And in Ancient Chinese medicine, when u have a fever, the doctor don't "bleed" u like in Ancient Europe/America... I dunno what lies behind the "bleeding" healing process but these doctors sound like cannibals!

Like when u r having a very hot and heaty body, boil ginger with coke (and don't be smart ass and ask if pepsi would work the same or not... It's stated coke, so get coke! ) and drink it. It doesn't taste yucky and I dunno how but it reduces the body heat. That's what I drink when I have a fever (that, and yummy coconut water), rather than chicken soup...

They're not tips. Just general knowledge for Chinese ppl.

The "bleeding" to heal is still practised...??? But why??? Don't they understand there's a world wide shortage of blood in the Blood Banks???

Really... I would donate too but they want me to weigh 45kgs before they'd lemme donate blood, regardless of my good health and small frame... Stupid aren't they?? And I have a pretty rare AB*!! Grrrr!!!
