everyday life of a stay at home mom/artist

Admitting is the first step to recovery....

, , , , , ,

I hate to admit it, but I am a last minute type of person....I do everything at the last minute...from making appointments to calling people to wish them a happy birthday. I throw birthday parties at the last minute, I plan dinner parties at the last minute, buy groceries at the last minute, get dressed at the last minute, pay bills at the last minute! So here I am…the Friday before school starts….going today to buy school supplies AND the one million boxes of tissues that the schools ask for. What in the world do they do with all those boxes of tissues? We don’t even use half the amount that they ask for in ONE YEAR here at the house. When I say lots of tissues I mean lots of freaking Kleenex! They want 3 to 6 boxes for EACH CHILD! So figure, 4 boxes times 21 kids in the class…is 84 boxes of tissues!! What are they doing with all these boxes? Building onto the school or what?

Also I have issues with the millions of pencils that we have to buy. I think I have used at least 5 acres of forest purchasing pencils for my children. One of my girls sharpens her pencil over and over and over and over during the school day, starting with a new pencil in the beginning…ending with a nub.

With no eraser.

Because she chewed it off.

pssst and the teacher doesn't stop her from doing that.

This year they want us to buy the twins ‘pocket dictionary/thesaurus’ Uhhh ok……..
Guess the budget didn’t allow for that this year? I take it? Ok.

I know that Cheryl of all people will understand. cry

I pray that admitting my problem might help me deal with it. Also today is my mother’s birthday but we have planned something for her on Sunday. Happy Birthday mom!

Well too much to do and too little ‘last minute’ time. p

pssst about the Kleenex and pencils..these are the two things that are requested later in the school year over and over. That is the reason I chose those to bitch about. But I am not excluding paper, folders and crayons… they also ask for those. faint Oh well… the education is free…right? After taxes and school supplies and clothes and the pressure of giving them the right kind of ‘shoes’ and ‘backpacks’ and accessories…it’s free…right? Why am I complaining????
bye bigsmile

Good heavens of course I can totally relate! lol
Yes, it would appear that your school is trying to build an addition out Kleenex boxes..or maybe it is a new sort of insulation technique...save on electricity?
I spent all my money on school stuff on Wednesday...
I even bought a big 12 box pack of Kleenex. Funny thing is, when they get to highschool...this isn't a worry anymore.
(I now have 2 in highschool up )
They want my youngest daughter to have a calculator...oh well..we'll have to get that another time..I forgot! left
Take care Sarah...and I am also one to leave things to last minute. I think it's cuz we are just plain busy all the time. worried heart

Hi Sarah,

What can they want all those tissues for??? That is just too weird! bigsmile

Here's a word you can look up when you get that pocket dictionary (this one also fits me like a glove):

procrastination

n 1: the act of procrastinating; putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later time 2: slowness as a consequence of not getting around to it [syn: dilatoriness]

Hi Sarah,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your Mom party

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Friday, August 24, 2007 4:53:52 PM

Hi Raquel,

Yeah, I know what it is...I just refused to use that nasty word. But anyhoo, I am not going to sit around and worry about what I have to do, I just do it when I feel like it. And that is the beauty of being a SAHM.

I cannot possibly agree more! The stuff they ask for is absolutely ridiculous. When I was a kid, all I had to do was show up!

The thing that really pisses me off is that in Montana, they had the nerve to put red pens on the list. I asked my kids what they were doing with the red pens - assuming I had bought them for my kids. Come to find out, the pens went in the teacher's desk & she used them to correct papers! irked So not only do they expect us to buy a shitload of supplies for our kids, they also want us to fill the teacher's desk. Hopefully Oregon will be different. Like you - I'm a last minute kind of person. I haven't bought one iota of school stuff yet. No clothes, no supplies...nothing! lol

KarenNerak Friday, August 24, 2007 7:09:56 PM

P.S.
Happy Birthday to your Mom! party

MarcusFXM256 Friday, August 24, 2007 8:21:08 PM

Can't believe they ask for all those tissues, what in the world for? The taxes you all pay should more than cover their Kleenex allotments one would think. I'm a bit of a procrastinator myself, and have been working on getting better about that.

Happy Birthday Sarah's Mom! party

Tell me about it! They want that many because everyone gets sick, and still goese to school! scared

Esther-Sugar Winxsugarwinx Saturday, August 25, 2007 10:25:16 AM

Weird... Tissues are now "school supply"???

When I was still in school, they were just pieces of papers that u use to wipe yr mouth after lunch... Forget that and u have to use the back of yr hand. lol

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Saturday, August 25, 2007 12:30:24 PM

I know, Esther...things are so different now. They also want that gel hand sanitizer for the younger ones, wet wipes as well. I don't know, there are so many germ-a-phobs be bobbin around. rolleyes whatever rolleyes I am not a germ-a-phob....I just remind the girls to wash their hands...i mean what more can you do? if you are going to get sick you are going to get sick, why stress on it?

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Saturday, August 25, 2007 12:34:21 PM

Karen,
Ohhhhhhhh bomb the red pen thing........they forced us to get these teachers 'dry erase' markers as well!!! irked I was thinking...what are my kids going to do with 'dry erase' markers? irked Give me a break... next thing they will ask for is chalk and printing paper and then they will ask us to contribute money for the teachers lunches...We do everything already..from PTA to buying all the stupid supplies that they ask for... really who needs a freaking POCKET DICTIONARY??? When I was going to school there was one big fat ass dictionary and it was toe up from the flo up but we STILL USED IT. And yes we all had to share it..big flipping deal. What is the deal, kids can't share now???!!!??? Girlfriend, I am so fucking over it.

heart muah!

Prosper TaylorNoah503935 Saturday, August 25, 2007 7:08:48 PM

Hmmm, yeah, who wsnts to hear two little kids argueing over a dictionary? rolleyes

KarenNerak Saturday, August 25, 2007 7:36:41 PM

Yeah, exactly! We had to buy dry erase markers this year, too! Oh - and baby wipes!!! Are they planning on wiping each other's asses with our money now, or what?! irked

Prosper TaylorNoah503935 Saturday, August 25, 2007 8:33:47 PM

And whats with all those pencils? Just get rid of the pencil sharpeners, and all is well! Besides, what do they do with all those pencils anyway? confused

KarenNerak Saturday, August 25, 2007 10:04:58 PM

At my daughter's elementary school last year, the teacher took all the pencils that the kids brought & put them into one giant container. Then when a kid needed a pencil, they'd get one out of the giant container.

That sounds all well and good, but I don't like the idea of paying for pencils for kids who chew theirs up, lose theirs, sharpen the Hell out of them...etc. I want my kid's stuff to remain HER stuff. That might seem petty, but after just paying 100 bucks for two kids to return to school this year, it's a matter of money!

Commie bastards. irked All of 'em!

Home school is sounding better and better!

Never rely on the memory…I mean…we have blogging after all, why overload the brain hard drive? Ok that was nerdy. MWAH!
