Dying to go to the Y

, , ,

I got up early this morning and made a pot of coffee, and some 'monkey bread' for the kids. If they eat too much they might be flying off the walls like monkeys, because of how sweet it is. This is basically the recipe...

3 cans Pillsbury biscuits
cinnamon
sugar
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350*F. Make a cinnamon and sugar mixture to taste. Open and cut each biscuit into 4's.

Roll biscuit pieces in cinnamon/sugar mixture until evenly coated. Place evenly around greased bundt pan.

In a sauce pan, melt butter, brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until smooth and creamy. Pour over biscuits.

Place in oven for approximately 30 minutes or until cake is slightly crunchy on top.

Remove from oven. Place a plate on top of bunt pan (upside down) and flip so that cake falls out onto plate.

STICKY FINGER FOOD! Serve hot and enjoy with coffee or tea!

Ok...that was a copy and paste from here.

Anyway..try it...it is easy to make and so good your mouth will water while you smell it cooking. The smell of cinnamon in the morning is so enticing. Anyway...I got the kids ready for school and kicked them out of the house. Everyday after school our house is the 'gathering place' of almost all of the kids in the neighborhood and surrounding area. Yes...I am that house. The one that gets complaints from neighbors on a weekly basis that the kids are too loud in the back yard...that they are trampling the grass between the houses as they run back and forth from front to back. I think the lady next door finally gave in to the children and gave up on trying to keep the grass perfect. I have only noticed that she has watered her tree once this summer. We have had a lot of rain, granted, but this is someone who has a professional crew come once a week, on Monday, to do her yard for years. She also has it sprayed with fertilizer and usually waters on cue each week, 3 times a week, and in the proper watering time. We are a bit lucky and have almost year round green grass in the front. Whoever put that grass in chose a hardy variety. Except on the side of the house...where the gate is...that is now by the way..locked.

Since we locked the gate...now the kids are running in and out of the front door heading straight to the back of the house, now tracking dirt in and out hated beige carpet. I have mentioned before how much I hate my carpet and how I wish I had hardwood flooring. Especially with so much traffic. My grandmother had a laminate hardwood look alike put in her home...that FEMA paid for because of the flooding. Anyway, the laminate looks great! So natural and warms the house considerably. smile I know grandma is happy with it. love This past weekend I stopped by my brother's house with my mother to visit...the medicine that he is on makes him hungry all the time, so he is gaining more weight. sad It's not good, especially since the folks in our family on my father's side have some health problems relating to weight. That is why I am always so worried about my own weight and sometimes to a point that I don't eat except for maybe one meal a day and I end up feeling like crap. My mother told me that she has been feeling sluggish and wants her and I to join Gold's Gym. But I can't stand the thought of the popularity of Gold's Gym and of all the muscle heads that must be in there..not to mention the incredibly in shape and beautiful girls. I would much rather join the downtown Y. The building is old and has tons of character, not to mention nice folks that work there and that are willing to help you in all your needs.

The only thing that freaks me out about the Downtown Y, is that some lady passed away in the hot tub. sad I could just imagine some bloated hot body floating in the hot tub and someone stumbling upon her. Sick and sad at the same time. sad Can you imagine just having a wonderful workout..maybe on the treadmill for 30 minutes, then do a little lifting of weights going for a quick swim....then you see the hot tub..it looks inviting to sore muscles...you get in...and then die....?
Now that would have to suck.

Unless your dream is to die in a hot tub...then it would be a nice way into heaven. Oh dear God I have to get off that subject. rip lady who passed in the tub.

So yeah...I still want to join the downtown YMCA.

I'll have to try that recipe for sure. up Thanks for sharing it!

I used to be a member of 24 Hour Fitness. I know what you mean about being surrounded by muscle-heads & bimbos. I did my best to ignore the perfect people, but I'm a perfectionist, so I couldn't help but compare myself to them. rolleyes

We finally ended up cancelling our membership. Now I just ride my bike and take lots of walks for exercise. Plus, I'm a freak about my yard - much like your neighbor, so I get a good workout taking care of all the gardening & mowing.

The whole corpse in the hot tub thing would totally give me the weebie-jeebies. There's no way in Hell I'd use that hot tub...but that's just me. I'm a freak about death and things related to death. Like you said, rip to the hot tub lady.

P.S.
I feel for your brother. I was on Zyprexa about four years ago & that stuff made me SO hungry all the time. It was like I was constantly eating. I gained a ton of weight from it. Luckily, I've lost all the weight, but damn...it was pretty harsh. I HATE the side-effects that go along with meds. down

Hey Karen,
I also love walking! I feel like I can get so much energy out that way, plus cleaning up after 4 girls gives me a bit of a work out. But the older I get the more I feel like I want to increase my activity level and energy level so I think adding some weights and also swimming might help. But like I said...the hot tub creeps me out a bit. Soo...I seriously doubt anyone is going to get me in there! bigeyes
The meds help in so many ways...but also like you said, the side-effects...not good. We are hoping to maybe get him out walking more.

That sounds like a wonderful recipe. I will definately try it out next time the kids come (Arthur doesn't like cinnimon) and if no one is here to help me, I'll eat the whole thing!
Smart lady you! - having all the kids at your house. Don't mind the neighbor, her grass will still be there when your kids have grown up and turned out terrific because you cared enough to know who they were with and what they were doing. Our neighbor across the street called the police on our kids every day because they played football after school in the vacant lots beside us. The police would come, take a brief look and keep on driving. My kids turned out fine and she's still paranoid.
OH and I really feel for you about the floor, we have beige carpet in the bedroom, every day Arthur walks in with muddy shoes and I have 6 cats with diahrreah. I clean carpets every single day and wish I had anything other than that stupid carpet. Could the kids kick off their shoes before coming into the house? Maybe keep a pair (even flip flops) front and back for convenience?
Funny you should say that about the lady in the hot tub. Deke talked about something like that on his blog yesterday - some kind of group home across the street from him and a girl died in the bathtub because the device that regulated the temp of the water went fritzie.

Hi Lois,
I am sure the kids will love this easy recipe. smile It is quite addictive I must say....you can't help but pulling the sticky gooey chunks of bread apart. (monkey brains) lol I agree about the lady next door...after almost 4 years of summers she has just about given up on griping I think.. And she used to also accuse the boys that played ball out of public nudity! yikes saying that they were 'peeing' on the side of the house. I was thinking...as long as it is out of site, let them be kids. Of course I don't agree with the kids peeing outside...but then again, I am not standing at my door watching every move that they make....let them be kids I say.

We plan on moving soon, so the carpet issue will not be with me for a lifetime. up

I will have to go take a look at Deke's blog, thanks for the tip. Sound like a sad story...

Esther-Sugar Winxsugarwinx Sunday, September 16, 2007 6:38:52 PM

No?

Ginger reduces flatulence. The Chinese ppl have been taking ginger for ages for this purpose. up
