Please tell me I am not the only one this has happened to...

Last night, I fell asleep quite deeply. I woke about an hour later and tried to get up, only to find that my arm was dead...it was like...not there or something. So I sat up and (still half asleep) looked down...Ok..my arm is still there...but I could not lift it..or feel it. It was completely asleep from the shoulder down. I know that sometimes my arm will fall asleep, but never to this extent. Seriously, it was the weirdest feeling in the world. After a second of standing there it woke up again. confused
Has this happened to anyone else? My poor arm was dead to the world last night. sad

It sometimes happens to me too. I don't sit up, I just use the other arm to get the "dead arm" out of bed, so some blood can run into it again. It usually hurts a little as it "awakens".
Sorry if this sounds a little weird, it's hard for me to explain in English. bigsmile

Oh yeah, I totally get it. Glad to know I am not the only one. I wonder if it is a nerve in the neck that gets pinched? Maybe I need to visit a chiropractor?

The 'awakening' feels like needles at times.

Yes, excactly, like little needles. Mine usually does it if I fell asleep on it. Do your arm hurts after? Mine doesn't.

I have to change positions 2-4 times per night due to this type of thing. Mine issue is more related to injuries from athletics when I was young. Sucks pretty much because sometimes it will hurt for days and days and I sleep less and less during those times. On the positive side when its not hurting I know I will get a good nights sleep so it is something to look forward to.

Oh me too! A dead arm is nothing fun to have. Sort of a little 'out of body' experience. Looking down at your arm, knowing it's there but having no control of it, is very creepy. Hey..just in time for Halloween! p

Yes it was, the right sackarillac (don't know how to spell it)
pinching a nerve. It would go dead right in the middle of walking down the aisle at the grocery store. Thank God I was holding onto a shopping cart.

It hasn't happened lately, thank God. But I do have my right hip and lower back lock up on me because of my curved spine.

Carol, you are talking about the sciatic nerve. Last year my sciatic nerve was pinched in my lower back for about 6 months. Had it not been for yoga and prayer, I think I would have had to had surgery. I remember taking tons of pain reliever...yuck Trying to pop my back, back into shape, literally.
My best friend, Amy, has a curved spine as well. Before she moved off with her husband, who is in the military..I remember her suffering from the pain of having the spine out of line. I do hope that she is getting that worked on.
I really feel for you, I know how back pain can just knock the crap out of a person...it's not fun.

Thank you Sarah, my spine is twisted pretty bad. It move my pelvic bone so I couldn't deliver my kids the normal way. It's made my left leg shorter than my right.

Thank you Sarah, I wore one for 23 hours a day when I was growing but it didn't help.

Honestly, I can't imagine going through that kind of pain..stress..so on. You must be seriously strong mentally to endure that sort of pain. Most women are strong in general, but with that extra pain, I can't imagine. God has blessed you with great mental strength.

Wild! I haven't quite had that experience...but I have woken up probably before that point with extreme pain in my arm...I must be pinching something..I think if I slept through that pain, it would probably be like what you experienced.

The same thing happened to me the other night. My arm was curled around my head and fell asleep. I woke up and had to shake my arm to wake it up. That was weird because that usually doesn't happen to me.
