Mittens!

It seems to take a while to get cold here in Texas. Usually we will have a cold spell right after Halloween with the temps going up and down between then and middle of December. I have never crocheted mittens before in my life, so bare with me as I work through this mitten wearing time.

This week I have completed a pair for my daughter that matches her scarf...I am so out of order! I need to make her a hat to match the mittens and scarf now! My oldest daughter wants gloves...and I have attempted to no avail in making gloves. No gloves. No. Can't do. I would rather spend 2 dollars on them at Wal-Mart than spend hours on a pair.

I think I just make things so my kids can be proud of me for trying.

They look so happy when I make them something...

That was a smart choice to save your money instead of buying some crappy gloves. And when you make them with loove and care it makes them more warmer then it suppose to be!!!

As you can tell Esther, I am not a huge fan of pink. I should be since I have 4 daughters, one adopted, and one idaughter.

I love them!!! I used to make them for my kids, but I always had to crochet the big long string to go up the arms and across the back of the jacket. Otherwise the mittens had a life span of just a few minutes. I got tired of seeing my kids with odd mittens as they lost one after the other.

Those mittens are very nice!
We can use them here..it's freaking cold! It's 14 F here... -10 Celcius!!!! They are calling for a whole lot colder weather by the week-end! Global warming???? Mah BUTT!!!!

Uh, that'll be in "real small size", please. I only wear size 4 for shoes and size 4 for clothes. (But I'm guessing our size 4 and your size 4 is quite different. So, maybe if you check the American Guess Kids and see the aged 12-14 range, that'll be my size!

Lois, those are super easy and so cute. Fast to knit up. I finally received my invite to Ravelry.com so I am super excited to check out all the patterns. I took a glance at a few yesterday and felt like a true beginner.

But in time hopefully I will also be able to knit cables.

I prefer crocheting because it is so easy.

I always preferred crocheting too, it's easier to carry around - you only have to worry about losing one stitch and I think it's more versatile too, although maybe that's just because I was a better crocheter than knitter. I always wanted to try tatting too. Did you ever try that? Mostly for making lace I think, and towel edgings.
