Hey there, I listened to your song and was very impressed. A large-diaphram USB powered microphone connected to your computer would improve the sound quality tremendously and bring out your lovely voice even more.
I recommend this because I do sound at our church a lot and work with recordings every week (it's my job to make our speakers sound even better with audio editing software). A good voice should not be wasted... Cheers, Henry
P.S.: when you're not happy with a segment, we pros just re-record and dub over. Only live can a full song be done in one shot.
O.K me and my big mouth No really I`m a man that keep`s his promise so well an Artistic "S" design do?...i have to sleep but i well look up to your answer when i get up have a cool day
Hello again Sarah, When it comes to electronics, Radio Shack is the first place the average person thinks of. However, I would suggest going to the yellow pages of your local phone book (or online) and look up professional music stores in your area.
One unit I used last fall I really liked for sound and value was the MXL USB.006. It retails for around $150 and comes with it's own little stand - perfect to place on table tops or near Karaoke speakers. It also has a nice case to carry all of it around in. It may take a bit of practice to find a nice balance of distance between your voice and the Karaoke machine. It's important to play back recordings on decent audio speakers. You can find out more about it at http://www.mxl-usb.com/USB_006/USB_006.htm
General tips: -use the windscreen to cover the top and prevent "popping" sounds from your voice (the letters 'p' and 'b' are the worst). -these microphones are VERY sensitive to picking up any sounds. A quiet area or quiet time will be best to avoid background noises. -take Bojan up on his offer to remaster; see what he can do. -if there are any other questions, just ask (it may be better to become 'friends' and do the technocratti through mail, rather than the blog ).
I hope there is someone there you can trust and put you at ease to help with setup and getting started - recording can be a daunting task when you want to do it well. The rewards of well crafted sound are tremendous, and show off your best vocal abilities - which is what we want, right? It's fun when there is a 'comfortableness' to making music.
Henry, Your a Godsend. I have actually never thought about spending 150 on my singing hobby, but you are rather the convincing soul. Mmmm actually I would love this mic.... Do you really think I have something in my voice that deserves the extra attention? Thanks so much for your 'expertise' in the subject. I am lucky for you to have stopped by!
YOU do Sarah, I would love to hear it clearer and just one bit of advice from someone that can't sing anymore, I may be wrong but it sounds like you hold back, afraid to let it out, you can sing the notes young Lady, let them go.
I've seen it time and time again: Musical confidence is inversely proportional to talent. Carol is right.
The $150 microphone will not only help with the musical recording, but be a terrific podcast microphone. It's a good starter; you will love the investment!
Now, of course, I could have recommended the Sony C800G microphone for a mere $7500 - but you would have to buy a mixing console and studio to go with it.
I will never get over how amazing your voice is. You make me shiver...literally! (Good shivers, of course.)
A woman sang this song at my Gramma's funeral. She was some redheaded woman who slaughtered the song. From now on, when I hear this song, I will think of your voice instead of hers.
I second Dacotah's opinion that you do hold back a little bit...let it loose, girl!! It's still awesome, though. I can sing the Fairly Odd Parents song...would you like to hear it? Okay...Timmy is an average kid that no one understands....(oops; my glasses just broke)
Carol and RJ, Yes....hahaha..it is true. I do hold back and only because I don't want the sound to go crazy....it's a little hard to explain. I was in choir for about ...mmm..my whole life and did a few solos and won a few awards. But there was one teacher in high school that told me I was 'missing something' and that really affected me. But I was very sensitive that way then. I will belt them out when I get a better mic.
Sweety, the only thing you are missing is smacking that teacher. Close your eyes and feel the music, let it out. Just my two cents again but I feel you are tring to hard to hit the notes and not make a mistake. You should know you have a GREAT VOICE. Can't wait to hear it clearer.

Bojan, Mmmm I won't take it down. I actually liked the other song
better than this one.
Henry, Thanks for your valuable advice.
The only place I knew to look was Radio Shack, and they didn't have one. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
RJ,
Thanks Star!

A more expensive one (~$250) comes from Audio-Technica. Very similar in appearance and has the same accessories but, naturally, higher quality (I think it comes from Germany or Austria). Information can be found at
