Pancakes for Cinny

, ,

The batter consist of Kibbles and Bits dog food and watered down pancake batter! lol

Finished product hot out of the pan...

Mariah adding a wee bit of syrup.

We cut it up and she sniffed it out carefully. Slowly she took one bite.

Mmmmm I suppose she likes it since she begins to devour it at breakneck speeds.

.5 seconds later the plate is half empty....or is it half full? bigsmile

Are you done Cinny?

Nope...there are a few small crumbs left...

She looks at me sheepishly for more. Awww!

lol I have trouble getting her to eat dog food. Since I didn't get Cinnamon until she was 10 months old, I think she was fed a lot of human food beforehand. Unless the food is from a can or covered in gravy she won't touch it. So, I sort of thought she would love this.

It'll take a while to get her straight to kibble..
Try walking around with some in your pocket.. (especially if you're around her alot) and hand feed her one or two bits.. As a treat.. Even mix it up with some dog biscuits..
Worked for me but it takes a while..

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Sunday, June 29, 2008 10:31:05 PM

Great...thanks Clint. I don't know how fond I am of walking around with it in my pockets, p, but I will try anything right now. I don't know, she is very picky but I don't want to see her get skinny. sad Thanks for the tips.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, June 29, 2008 10:41:13 PM

No problemo.. p I basically raised my dogs mostly on that and supplement feeding..
I know a much more extreme method of getting the dog on dry kibble but I don't think your kids will agree.. scared it involves starving her a couple of days only giving some water and very small portions of food.. Then those mixed with kibble thoroughly..
As kids go they'd hate (even you) to starve the dog so that's why its a tad extreme..
From personal experience I'd say it works.. (also on aggressive dogs to become more compliant..)
Yes I'm cruel.. cry

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Sunday, June 29, 2008 10:45:02 PM

Actually I have heard of a method like that on "dog whisperer". So I wouldn't consider it 'cruel'. up

Hey, Sarah...when I owned a gourmet dog treat business, I developed my own recipes for healthy treats...PLUS a list of things that are poisonous for dogs (human food items). I'll post some recipes as well as the list on my blog for you and all of your regs to copy/save if you like. Most people know about the chocolate thing but they don't know about grapes, avocado, onion, cooked bones, etc. being dangerous (and sometimes deadly) for dogs. Just let me know if you'd like for me to post that stuff for you.

Cinny is SO gorgeous!! smile

Oh Thanks RJ!
I would actually love to see that information. What interests me the most is the cooked bones not being safe. I am guessing it is because cooking them makes the bones pliable and the dog may mistake it for soft food, wolfing it down, a choking hazard. sad

Thanks for the compliment on Cinny. She needs work still on her behavior, but with 4 kids this is very difficult. I am still training them after all!

A lot of people think that cooking bones will "soften" them for the dogs, making them easier to digest or eat, but if you think of how wild dogs (and other carnivores) eat in nature, they will gnaw/chomp on bones, eating what they can and not eating what they can't.

The main reason the cooked ones are dangerous is because they can splinter easily, which can cause choking and other MAJOR problems in not only the doggie's throat/stomach but could do some damage in the intestinal tract. I used to tell my customers this along with giving them a printout of the toxic food list...and sure enough, about half of them would point to something on the list and say, "Well, MY dog has eaten ______ for YEARS, and she ain't dead YET!" And my response would be, "Yet is the operative word." Some people get defensive, too, but feeding your dog something that you don't realize is harmful isn't being a bad pet parent, it's just that very little info is out there in one place. PLUS, there are actually treats on the store shelves that contain Xylitol. It is dangerous for dogs to eat it. But, the products aren't regulated that strictly, so...

I'll post the info as soon as I can...it's on my other computer.

BTW...I told my BFF that you are going to kick her @SS in my contest if she doesn't hurry up and guess what the secret project is....(insert evil laughter here)lol

I am looking forward to that info and I am sure that others really need to see it as well!

LOL...I have to recheck that contest wink lol
