Cinnamon update

, ,

I forgot to mention that I took Cinnamon to the vet yesterday for a some round odd looking circles on her coat. Thank God she has short hair so I knew right away it was dog ringworms. yuck Poor baby, you know they have to itch her. awww

The veterinarian took a look at her under a black light, and you could really see the rings pop under that light. He prescribed her a topical medicine, sounds easy enough? But not my dog...she freaks out at the mere site of it. I smelled the medicine and it sort of resembles finger nail polish remover or something but it's not so bad. Not bad enough for her to go crazy when we approached her with it. I finally had to man handle her this morning and hold her down. She is only 47 lbs so it wasn't that big a deal. Yeah right. 47 lbs of pure muscle and instinct. Cinnamon kept showing her teeth each time the cotton ball came near her. scared I fixed that problem because I'm the boss, applesauce. bigsmile

I know ringworm sounds really yucky, but I think it's actually a fungus, not a worm. Fairly common in the South in the summertime.

About the medicine: It wouldn't happen to smell like Nair, the hair remover product, would it? I've found that works really well on ringworm on little kids. You might want to remember that, if it accidentally spreads to you or your family.

Hope Cinnamon recovers quickly. She's such a pretty pup.

I must remember that about the 'black light'. up I have a few ultraviolet fluorescent tubes of my own. They're usefull for examining money, passports, identity documents etc. They also do a great job of revealing how unclean the backsplash of your stove and kitchen counter is. Just because you can't see the dirt, doesn't mean it's not there. scared .
But I'm glad Cinnamon is going to be ok. up

That's true! I use a black light when I'm cleaning to make sure I've gotten everything completely clean. yes

I had one on my calf when I was about 12...in Florida, it happens a lot. Tinactin got rid of that bad boy in three days. And it was as big around as a tennis ball in diameter. I've also heard that tea tree oil will get rid of the fungus, too.

I hate those damn things...Thanks...I bet it would be good just to rub her coat with that tea tree after a bath...cool
