Elam Family Reunion

,

This weekend I have been attending the Elam Family reunion here in my town....
It's been just amazing to learn about my mother's side of the family. smile After attending, I realize how little I do know. There are a ton of interesting people who are attending, even one that looks like Bill Clinton! eek I need to get a picture of him, he's very tall and handsome, and a higher up in the military. He has a beautiful wife that he met while in another country years ago. I should find out more today...

Anyway I am excited about learning more about the deep roots that we have here in Wichita Falls going back to the turn of last century. To know your family and where you came from sort of makes me feel grounded and happy. happy I was hesitant to go, but I don't regret it one bit!

Posting more lata,
-Sarah

My grandfather always told us that our family tree included a signer of the Declaration of Independence. I guess that explains my political interests.

I'm glad you are having fun!
We never have family reunions anymore, and if we did I'm not sure I'd go anyway. wink

Right...You learn so much about YOURSELF when you meet with family. It's mind blowing how similar you are to these people that you have never met. I mean, we are of the same blood and genes so why not the same interest? smile

L, I really felt the same way...I was BLAH about it. When the host did a power point about my family history I was bigeyes staring and in amazement at the struggles that they went through to settle here in Texas and California! I respect them for this.
I saw my pictures of my great grandfather and his brothers. They were all soooo tall and lanky! lol
