Just some thoughts....

I watched "Iran and the West" on National Geographic tonight...flipping between "Jon and Kate Plus 8" of all things. Anyway it was nice to receive a brief education on the history of the relationship between the United States and Iran. Learning about how Iran was affected by terrorist sort of changed my view on it. My Marine husband put it best, "They have been fighting since the beginning of time." I hate to think of a country being in turmoil because of leaders, rebellion, confusion, etc. But we have to realize, this is something that is a natural part of being on this earth. It SHOULDN'T be that way, and I hate war but this is unpreventable.
There are those who chose to lose their life for peace. There are those that chose to lose their life for tyranny. Both groups do it with some sort of conviction that everyday people, moms, dads and others might only slightly understand.
When I wrote about the girl that was killed I did it because she was a female. A female, to me, isn't exactly a freedom fighter or deserved to die in that fashion or on camera for that matter. But I have learned of female suicide bombers! So yes, they are capable of fighting. It just shocks and saddens me and in a perfect world, of course, there would be no death.
I DID notice a lot of you stay away from the subject of Iran and what is happening. I don't know why...
Do you have no opinion or you just won't speak on it? Sounds like someone else we all know *cough*Obama*cough*
Anyway...
"Neda" pulled at my heart strings.
It gave me peace to know that she will be known as a martyr. But don't forget...all the soldiers that died for our country (United States) then TOO are martyrs of sorts. They died...so that we could have the freedom to wonder about peacefully.
Without the death of those many people, I am sure I wouldn't be freely writing on this subject now.

I can think of countless examples, maybe this isn't the best one but it comes to mind. I lived in China during SARS. It was not the pandemonium there that the Western press was reporting. Also, when I was in China, there were reports of massive flooding and landslides near where my parents live. The way the news was reporting it , it was a disaster. But my parents told me it wasn't like that at all.
As I said , I need to think this over more before coming to my own conclusion. I just worry about images used in this way. I don't know. How can we know the full story?
There is a huge Iranian community in my city. Actually they prefer to be known as Persians. I wonder about this. Anyway, the other day, at the gym, all the TV's were turned on to CNN. (usually they are on sports channels) And all I saw for the next 1 1/2 hours were repeat images from Iran. The same images again and again. And the "Persians" were all glued to the broadcasts.
I'm making no judgements, these are just observations. Maybe I'll try to talk to someone at the gym tomorrow....

There's a lot of goofing around for the cameras going on right now, and almost no visible international diplomacy.
Still waiting....

Different areas have different opinions.
That explains the ladder of government. There has to be a beginning, (your city/town) that you live in, then county, then state, then country. It works well to some extent in my opinion. But population, economic geography and other issues can play a part in this.
The state I live in, Texas, is poor in my opinion. It's too big with too many people and few resources. So, what works for us doesn't work for Kansas, or Mass, or North Carolina, whatever!
In other words, I think it would work better if each state had a president...
I really don't like the idea of one president and I think it causes discord in countries.

I did not mean that my opinion would be determined by the response of our leaders. No way, no how.
I already have very strong opinions about this stuff. I'm just being quiet about it, that's all. And I'm very curious to see how the leaders of the "Free World" are going to respond to this.
That's all I was saying. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 # Tuesday, June 23, 2009 7:41:42 PM
You are trying to explain an unexplainable situation here. It's not possible to say why and what and who. It has to do with religion. People will make it about religion, why? Because they always do. *shrug* That's just them.
I see it as barbaric, but I guess they feel blood must spill because of their history. Do they know better? Why are some countries more disadvantaged than others? There might never be any explanation except it is in their genes. They will never change.
Sarah Dreamsangel292005 # Tuesday, June 23, 2009 7:45:38 PM
Lorenzo, when you post pictures like that on a blog you are visiting, it is a violation of someone's blog. I have the right to remove it and anything else. I left the URL for those who are interested in checking it out, but I will never force those type of images on anyone!
Think about it! Why would you force someone to do anything? That is dictatorship in itself.

LorenzoCelsi is a dick. Plain and simple. He clearly lacks the common decency to not post pictures like that in places where they are not wanted and/or asked for. He failed to see or even stop to think that for some people seeing such an image (whether it is going on or not) can be mentally and emotionally damaging to someone...especially in a place where it's nowhere near expected.
Nope. He just posts it anyway...not giving two shits who sees it, their age, what they've been through...etc. His agenda is all he cares about.
Essentially the polar opposite from altruistic in nature.
AKA dick.
I'm done now. I'm sorry, Sarah, to have gone off, but when I snap, I snap...and this ass has it coming. How selfish, ya' know? Love ya'

ANYWAY Karen you don't have to apologize.
L, like I said before, you can't just go around posting things expecting others to just smile and take it up the ass. Get real.
You need to reread the post, I NEVER talked about gays in Iran.
It WASN'T the topic, you made it the topic.
Goodbye.

I think he's just someone who's attempting to come off far more intelligent and knowledgeable about certain things than he is. That's what we call an arrogant dick without a clue!

I really don't agree with that Sarah. It's no better than a man getting better treatment than a woman. The fact is gender equality means genders being treated the same, not genders being treated the same PLUS the benefits they had before they decided they want more.

When I say a girl is supposed to be a girl, it means she shouldn't have had her ass out there.

You sound more like me than I thought, Conor. What is a girl supposed to act like? And if she doesn't then what do you think of her?
There was a girl in jr high and high school that loved sports....in every way she was a tom boy. Even her body was like a boys, she had little hips and wide shoulders. STRONG.
She never 'acted' like a girl, yet...she was maybe one of the most girlie out of all of us.
So, 'acting' like a girl can mean many different things to different people. Some men get it and some men don't. *shrug*
