everyday life of a stay at home mom/artist

A Dream, A Life, A Memory.....Now let's get out!

Before we moved into our home 6 years ago, we lived in a small 2 bedroom house. It had just the basics; a living room, small bathroom with shower and a tiny kitchen with room for nothing. We made the best of it. We watered the yard and planted flowers and shrubs. Quickly outgrowing the bungalow with our children pushed us to search for new. We found a 3 bedroom ranch style home with a peaceful backyard and wonderful neighborhood. But now...after living here for almost 7 years we are moving again. We have looked at homes in our price range here and none are up to living standards. yuck Prices have gone up, so we have decided to move into an apartment flat! We have looked at it already and filled out the 15 page application. They want to know everything about you before you are approved. left I really had to convince myself that apartment living would be as good or better than home living. Here is the list I have compiled below.

[/IMG]Pros and Cons
up Pro- No yard work!

down Con- No yard. awww

up Pro- Finally my own bathroom.

down Con- none. lol

up Pro- swimming pool, workout room, beach volleyball, nice playground.

down Con- also, there is no con to being physically active.

up Pro- No waiting for hubby to do maintenance

down Con- No painting the walls. sad

up Pro- You are exposed to new music (from neighbors)

down Con- The music may not be in your taste.

up Pro- You know where EVERYTHING is!

down Con- You MUST stay organized in a smaller space.

up Pro- More affordable living

down Con- again, no con...I wanna go shopping!

Well, if anyone wants to add their thoughts below on the pros and cons of apartment living vs home living, then please do so.coffee It won't change the fact that we are moving though. lol New adventure! love

I think it'll be a refreshing change for all of you! I'm so happy for you that you were approved! God was looking out for you!

I would love to live in a complex with a pool and all that jive! That would SO rule....but thanks to all the credit checks, we can't rent those places. Our credit always gets in the way. down

Enough about me, though....you guys need to party & pack!!! Yay!!! heart

con: being woke up at all hours od the day & night from BOOM BOXES blaring as the cars go by in the driveway.

con: not knowing whether or not they changed the locks of the apartment, like is mandatory, until something gets taken.

con: constant notices of "inspection" to make sure you are living p to their standards of living.

con: NO privacy

con: walls thin enough that you can hear your neighbors take a shit

con: no windchimes or suncatchers, or anything at all allowed in or on the windows, except for holiday decorations which have to be taken down just as soon as the holiday is over.

sorry for all the cons, but this is from 6 years of living in an apartment...if by chance i can think of anything positive, i will put it.

These are BRAND new, no one has lived in them yet. I even have my choice of where I want it! Yey! Ummm sounds like you lived in some pretty bad apts. I lived in apartments for many years as well...and the only problem I can remember is (if you are living downstairs) are the fat asses walking upstairs. That was bad...and their music. sad I hated that. Neighbors knocking at any hour...crap like that.

You really need to be a social person if you live in apts. smile

Pro: You'll never be lonely
Pro: You're getting a BRAND NEW apartment
Pro: You're downsizing which = less stuff = more organized = excuse for shopping wink

I totally agree! lol

A little alone time is good for the soul. Guess I will have to go off to the lake when I am feeling overwhelmed. It doesn't happen often.

Congrats on the new apartment! Hope it all works out well for you all! smile

We have lived in apartments since we were married. There have been a few that were too noisy. But most of the place we have lived are nice little quiet communities. Right now we live about 5 minutes from work. I work until 5 am and a parking space is sometimes scarce at that time in the morning. The important part is to make sure the complex has a good maintenance staff. When your water heater breaks down at 3 a.m. it is good to know that it will be fixed quickly.
