Sally the Stray

, ,

OK peoples...seriously,my kids never fail to amaze me! The girls have been keeping a close eye on this adorable little dog whom we have named "Sally". She is very good natured and sweet...but I am trying to find her a home. My husband and I are 'thinking about' keeping her. I just don't know with the cats we have already, it just feels crowded with another animal. Anyone have any advice on what we should do with her? Click on the picture to be led to the starter album.

Also a Few of my Favorite Things....Sally getting stalked by the bad cats!

She's so so cute!

A wee little thing like that won't take up much room. You'd hardly notice her. :D

Are you sure she doesn't belong to someone who lives in the same complex as you?

Stardancer 20. September 2009, 18:33

She's so cute!

If you really feel you can't keep her, let the local shelter know that she's available, but "foster" her until they find her a suitable home. That will give her the chance to become socialized to children and other pets, and make her a better pet for whoever adopts her. In the meantime, you could put up some flyers at the shelter and at local vets' offices (especially the vets' offices). That would give her a better chance of going to someone who would take very good care of her.

Hermitess 20. September 2009, 20:01

Gosh she's just the right size for my dogs. p:
I don't think I could get away with a third dog though. :frown:

Karen 20. September 2009, 23:32

:o: She's adorable...and I love the name you've picked for her.

I agree that it'd be a tad crowded with the 6 humans & 2 felines. :left: If it were me, I would either put a free ad in the paper & then interview prospective owners, OR I would find a no-kill shelter to bring her to. I've had to bring a cat to one of those before, and they're so much better than a regular animal shelter. The animals actually enjoy life there...especially in the free roaming ones.

No matter what you end up doing, the fact remains - your kids have big, huge hearts just like their Momma does!

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 14:40

 plz keep her. She looks so happy and relaxed where she is.

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 14:43

Well, I am going to put her on craig's list! :D

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 14:46

 How is she doing?

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 14:46

 How is she doing?

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 15:13

She is doing good right now...the cats are trying to figure out what the heck she is. I took some video of it. p:

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 15:34

Awww, that is so sweet. How is she with the cats? :cat:

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 15:37

Well, she basically runs from them and hides under my feet.

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 15:50

She is in love

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 17:11

LOL with my feet? :D

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 17:25

 Yh, my cat goes around mine all the time, or only when he is after something.

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 18:03

Oh yeah, but I hate that when you don't want to get scratched! OUCH! lol It's like, fight somewhere else...

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 18:23

Lol, i hate when they scratch the furnature.

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 19:07

Do you mind if I ask what country you are from?

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 19:46

Im from Scotland. How About you?

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 20:33

OK, I am in Texas, USA. How is the weather there?

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 20:57

Oh Texas wow. The weather here has been sunny, but now it's starting to get cold and always raining. Scotland is known to have crap weather lol.

ღೋSarahೋღ 21. September 2009, 21:11

I love cold and rainy.

ninabritney 21. September 2009, 21:36

Lol why?

Hermitess 21. September 2009, 22:00

Good excuse to snuggle under blankets with coffee/tea and read or blog! :D

Tab 22. September 2009, 12:10

If you haven't done so already, place a found add in all local papers. Do not describe the dog and specify that she can be claimed with a photo. To many are claiming aniamls and in fact selling them to research facilities.

Notify local shelters and vets.

If you do take her to a no kill shelter vaccinate her first. Diseases like parvo are constantly taking the lives of shelter dogs, and you'd be helping the shelter save a few bucks.

On the other hand if you are going to foster her, then pehaps keeping her isn't out of the question. Fostering is an emotional experience as family and dog bond, making letting her go to a new home difficult.

Honestly...you seem to have fallen in love with Sally already, and she seems quote content with you.
My suggestion is do your best to reunite her with her owner and if that fails, keep her.

ninabritney 22. September 2009, 12:10

 i love doing that with candles on.

Tab...
Thanks for your lengthy advice. p: I put a lost and found ad in craig's list, didn't hear anything so I put her on our freecycle. A very nice lady with 2 kids wanted her and she has another small dog at home, so I was all for it!

ninabritney 23. September 2009, 14:58

awww, so happy she is going to a loving home.

ღೋSarahೋღ 23. September 2009, 15:18

Gorgeous cupcake Karen...it's making me want to do some baking.

Really glad Sally got a loving home. You did a very good thing by offering to take her back. Many wouldn't have even considered opening their home to a little stray in need. It's nice to know there are good people such as yourself, with big hearts

Karen 23. September 2009, 21:57

I can't take credit for it, Tab. I hotlinked it off of someone else's site. I just Googled "Cupcake" and voila! :wizard:

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 22:42

*gasp*
WELL

I never...

I'm speechless

Karen 23. September 2009, 22:43

Well, now you have! p:

Keep hanging around us & you'll do/say things you never thought you'd do/say!

I blame Sarah, though. It's her Cupcakey goodness that sucks us all in.

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 22:46

It's your fault I've been on Opera so much today, you peoples keep commenting and I keep coming back to read them!

It is no secret of my love of baked goods especially cake. :eyes:
This was a trap wasn't it?!

Karen 23. September 2009, 22:48

:left: A trap? I have no idea what you could possibly mean!

Sarah isn't a good cupcake. She's a Devil's Food Cupcake. :devil::heart:

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 22:50

She sucked me in with her tractor beams.... mmmmmm

Kewl, I'll hang.
