everyday life of a stay at home mom/artist

Sunday Oct. 25, 2009

This Sunday morning I was doing my normal routine, getting the kids off to church, cleaning, doing laundry..etc.

So...laundry...let's start on that topic. Why is this such a cause of stress for me? I don't understand why I can't go into the laundry room and just wash the clothes like a robot, not thinking about the color separating, turning the shirts right side out, turning the jeans RIGHT side out. *exasperated* There is nothing that bothers me more than turning clothes the right side out. Imagine doing this for 4 girls who love to change clothes several times a day and won't wear a jacket twice without wanting it washed.

Why do they put their winter jackets in the dirty clothes when they should have hung the jackets back into the coat closet? LOL It's as if they are too girlie to even imagine putting on a jacket worn one day. Ok, after obsessing over that....I obsessed over my bathroom that I share with my husband.

Why do men not aim for the toilet? Why does their piss end up on the side and front of the toilet? Don't pee in the dark you lazy turd. Hold it, aim it so that I won't have to wipe your piss constantly. I still love him though. I just wish he would sit on the toilet to pee. Do I dare ask a man to do that?

Oh I wanted to mention that my 14 year old (Rachael) volunteered for a job at her school. It's working in the greenhouse for a little each day and they pay the kids minimum wage to do it. Isn't that just the coolest thing? So she'll have a little extra money to play with now. *yey*

Halloween is coming up. I am still not sure what we are going to do. My youngest, Mariah, is going to be a bunny. (cute) happy The hubby says the other 3 are too old to dress up. *shrug*

My mother and step dad are going to Houston to have his treatment for pancreatic cancer next week. They will be there for an estimated month. Hopefully things will work out well and I will be keeping those two in my prayers everyday.

OMG I almost forgot to mention, my poor cat...Star (the female black cat) was playing with a toy and all of a sudden she freaked out and ran down the hall and ran into a door. She fell over dead and then started to seizure. Foaming at the mouth and all of that. I thought that maybe she used one of her 9 lives, but she seemed fine later that night. We let her rest and she begun to eat and act normal again. I still have no idea why she freaked out. Poor baby.

Talk soon!

First of all, your cat had a seizure, you should get that checked out; there are various reasons for it to happen.

The laundry! Sarah, why do you have to turn the clothes right side out? Just leave them and let the girls figure it out. I'll do other people's laundry but like you my peeve is laundry inside out. A few shirts hung up inside out will teach them. devil

As for men peeing sitting down, it's not that uncommon, I've known several men that do it. I think all of them have lived on their own though and have had to clean the toilet themselves! That reminds me, time to do my Sunday chores. grrr

Prayers to your step dad. heart

TabTabmartel Sunday, October 25, 2009 7:43:22 PM

hi Sarah
Print this and frame it above the toilet at eye level-

If you tinkle when you sprinkle
be a sweetie and wipe the seatie.

My kids are the same way with not wearing anything twice. It drives me insane. Nobody needs a fresh bath towell every flippin' day! Laundry sucks!

If your cat has another siezure bring it to the vet. I would suggest bringing it now, but it is expensive and I know you aren't in a financial possition to take her. If you have a veterinary college near you check with them..medical costs will be about a quarter of the price.

KarenNerak Sunday, October 25, 2009 8:05:55 PM

Sunny does the same exact things with her laundry! lol I find her coat in the basket every single time...along with other clothes that she didn't even wear! rolleyes

As for men & their lack of aiming...ugh. What can we do, really? I don't know about C, but when I mention something like that to Lonnie, he gets cranky...and sometimes has the nerve to deny it - as though I pissed all over the freakin' place! lol I've basically given up and just clean it without saying anything. It's better than starting an argument over piss! lol hahaha....sorry, that cracked me up for some stupid reason.

Awesome that Rae sorta got a job! yes I'm really happy to hear that. I know she'll love payday! yes

Poor kitty cat. sad I hope she's okay & doesn't have Epilepsy or something. o

Love ya'! heart

TabTabmartel Sunday, October 25, 2009 9:51:47 PM

I was talking to a certain someone in the washroom while he was peeing, and he forgot he was peeing, and turned to look at me..needless to say I was washing myself, the toilet, the wall and everything else that was in his path...lol

KarenNerak Sunday, October 25, 2009 11:28:55 PM

lol Kinda like one of those sprinklers!

TabTabmartel Sunday, October 25, 2009 11:43:49 PM

Exactly...but I wouldn't wanna run through that sprinker. doh

KarenNerak Sunday, October 25, 2009 11:50:31 PM

Oh, hells no! down

TabTabmartel Monday, October 26, 2009 12:00:18 AM

LOL... At least the men I share my life with are kind enough to lift the seat...AND put it back down after :whew:

KarenNerak Monday, October 26, 2009 12:53:46 AM

Same here. They know what'll happen if they don't do so. irked

MarcusFXM256 Monday, October 26, 2009 2:24:11 AM

lol at the comments. I don't know about other guys, but I make sure my aim is correct. p

Maybe you should have the cat looked at to make sure she is ok.

KarenNerak Monday, October 26, 2009 4:39:13 AM

All guys claim that their aim is accurate. rolleyes

maddysman2003 Monday, October 26, 2009 2:07:13 PM

A nightlight in the bathroom is a wonderful thing.

TabTabmartel Monday, October 26, 2009 4:28:46 PM

Maddy is clearly a lucky woman lol

KarenNerak Monday, October 26, 2009 9:19:27 PM

KarenNerak Monday, October 26, 2009 10:01:24 PM

Awww! o

TabTabmartel Monday, October 26, 2009 10:03:15 PM

That is so totally awesome!!
happy

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Monday, October 26, 2009 11:07:25 PM

Sarah, YES laundry does suck. Especially for as many people as you do it for!

I believe I began doing my own laundry at age 12. My mom said no way to doing all of our laundry! So she didn't.

Hope your little kitty will be ok. sad

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:17:37 AM

Cats are weird. Your husband's aim would improve if he had to clean up after himself. I live in a "men only" house. I don't suppose we are as clean as women are, but we do practise some sanitation from time to time. cool

OlgaOlgita Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:44:58 AM

"Why do men not aim for the toilet?" - hahahahahaha lol lol lol lol

I have the same problem at home! so you are not alone Sarah! lol

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 1:39:08 PM

They come up short because they think they are longer than they actually are! eek yikes

TabTabmartel Tuesday, October 27, 2009 2:36:07 PM

lol That's funny....

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 3:59:08 PM

@san, We are watching her and she seems to be fine. If anything else comes up, I will take her. Kitty promise.

@Tab,

Cute wink

@Karen,I passed your congrats on to Rachael. heart I wouldn't think that Sunny would do that as well. lol Girls are so much alike that way! hahah Do you remind her not to do it? Do you make her hang it up? I do for the girls unless I can SEE dirt on it.

@Marcus, I will if she shows any sign of being sick. up

@Brian, Mmm good idea. I will have to remember that. *mental note* I am guessing you have one. p

@Lindsay, REALLY? She trusted you guys to do it? I am afraid of doing that. Well, I stay at home still so really I don't need for them to do their own laundry. Now...if I worked...they MIGHT go to school with only their skivvies or something. bigeyes lol

@Tyler, hi! Yesssss I know men can be clean. You know ...right after they shower. lol

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 6:55:21 PM

Men cannot win this one. My Mother could see a spot of dirt on my shirt from fifty feet! lol

Thanks for passing on the congrats! heart
Of course I remind her not to do it! She's been doing her own laundry for months now, but she has to clear it by me before she can put it in the washer. lol She folds & hangs up all of her stuff, too. bigsmile

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 7:09:33 PM

cool

TabTabmartel Tuesday, October 27, 2009 7:27:00 PM

My kids fold their own clothes and put em away too, but I go to the laundramatt so it's me who washes everything!

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 8:11:41 PM

Would you believe that I do my own laundry once a week. Every Sunday. cool

maddysman2003 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:03:40 PM

Yes, we had the same problem with a messy toilet, so the nightlight was added. Due to my work schedule, I am mostly a house husband. I do laundry twice a week and all of the cleaning. Occasionally I even cook.

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:12:08 PM

Brace yourself Sarah...

~I learned to cook beginning at age 8, we had to cook one meal a week and wash the dinner dishes once a week.
~Yes, we did our own laundry, dried it and hung it up. I folded towels too.
~I dusted the house once a week for years.
~My brother and I took turns cleaning our shared bathroom beginning at age 13.
~My brother and I had to clean the inside and outside of my dad's semi truck for a while (ages 12-14ish) That SUCKED. Do you know how hard it is to hand wash a SEMI truck and get all those fekking bugs off?!!!
~Also I took care of the horses, feeding, watering, tack, ect.. and fed the dogs from age 8 on.
~I remember picking up rocks endlessly... ugh... if you live on rocky terrain, you're never going to get them all!
~I mowed the grass in the summer beginning at age 9 I think. My brother did the weedeating. I could never stop the lawnmower (my legs were too short to reach the brakes!) so I ran it into a tree every time. lol
~In high school I also did my dad's laundry and the bookkeeping for the receipts of what my dad spent that week while gone in the truck. (he was a truck driver)
~I cooked dinner 5 nights a week from ages 17-19.

My mom stayed at home until I was about 13 or so I think. Then she went back to work full time. I damned sure know how to take care of myself and my house. lol bigsmile

TabTabmartel Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:24:30 PM

My boys also staarted cooking at around nine. I wanted to ensure they care for themselves.

I remember picking rocks out of the pastures...was a tremendous chore..and as you said endless.

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 9:47:30 PM

You all are lucky you didn't have to work for my Grandmother! She paid me $5 a week and worked me into the ground. When I was 16, I went out and got a "real" job so that I wouldn't have to work so hard. jester

Cleanclean Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:01:14 PM

Hope your step father is going to be okay.

Hope your kitty is going to be okay.

Hope your hubby understands when you tell him that - unless he cleans up his own puddles - you, too, are going to be peeing standing up from now on ... and not cleaning it up. whistle

Happy (belated) Birthday, too! heart

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:02:13 PM

Step Dad has gone to the farm in the sky. rip

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:20:57 PM

What?!!! bigeyes Sarah's step dad?

TabTabmartel Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:24:57 PM

I worked at ZES..Zimmerman equine services, When I started there I was a chore girl @ 13. I got the chores nobody else wanted to do.

When I left I was training and howing horses for cliets as well as my own horses.

I cannot express to you how much I miss it.

I hated washing the wooden stall walls with creasote...and the backs of the stalls once a week..always messy..

At least everyone mucked stalls every day together.

Cleaning saddles once a month sucked, but I did all the crap work just because I loved the animals.

Scrubbing 120 feed and water buckets every Saturday with creasote wash harsh...I hate that stuff..we eeven painted fences with it until one of the horses decided to be anaphilactic to it.

I guess

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:20:55 AM

Oops. My Step Dad has passed away quite awhile ago. Sorry for the confusion.

Cleanclean Wednesday, October 28, 2009 8:13:27 AM

Oops. I was aiming my comment at Sarah in relation to her post. I can see how it would be confusing, though, just appearing in the middle of the conversation like that.

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Wednesday, October 28, 2009 11:24:12 AM

oohhh ok. up I gotcha. pssst not the first post today I got lost and confused on. lol

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Wednesday, October 28, 2009 11:25:06 AM

Tab, why is it with horses, even the crap jobs don't seem so bad? wink

TabTabmartel Wednesday, October 28, 2009 1:18:12 PM

Horses are the most beautiful and graceful animals. Doing the crap jobs worked for me because I was able to interact with the horses. It made me happy just being around them.

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:25:36 PM

Back in the "day", there were three "Indian Ponies" at our little hippie commune. They were not my ponies, but everytime they broke thru the fence (almost daily), the sherriff would call ME at work. "Mr. Young, your ponies are at the Sod Farm again...". I used my old 54 Ford and the dogs to round them up. I could go anywhere in that old car that they could. It got so that when they saw the old Ford coming, they would just turn and head back home. cool

TabTabmartel Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:29:48 PM

I trained the horses to come on command when they hears me sound a whistle. I wasn't walkin accross 45 acres of field to halter them and lead em in. Halters were not pemitted inside pasture..horses tend to strangle on them.

Tyler Parke YoungCaptivevet Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:36:21 PM

I had a dog named "Freckles". She was half german shep and half collie. That dog had a double dose of the herding instinct and would try to round anything. She didn't see to good and when the students from the college would come down the road on there bycycles, she would try to "turn" them and run them into the yard. She knocked five people over that I know of, because they sued us. eek

Sarah Dreamsangel292005 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 3:42:47 PM

Karen and Tab...

I can't believe that you trust your kids to do their clothes. faint I would freak out if they mixed the whites with the reds or something!

My clothes get separated like this
browns
greens
blues
reds (includes pink)
whites
black and or gray

then the white stuff that has color in it.

I don't worry about that because I am "color blind".
"Darks" and "lites", that is how I do it. cool
