Cleaning my Blog...

, , ,

Oh wow...yesterday evening I started to delete people from my friend list that didn't have a user pic. (with the exception of H82typ aka Dennis, he has proven his validity and is a pretty cool guy) Deleting became addicting to me because I figured out a way to do with without leaving the edit page.

Instead of left clicking on "remove" IN EDIT PAGE I right clicked and chose 'open in background tab'. I went through each page (a total of 30 pages 39 people per page) and removed everyone that
a) I didn't know.
b) didn't comment on my page.
c) left My.Opera

I kept those that
a) I know visit but infrequently
b) visit frequently
c) are no longer active but have special meaning to me

So...after deleting those 'unfriends' I headed over to my Inbox. Oh Lord...I had messages from 2006 in there...over 5,000. Because of Opera allowing a check all feature, deleting was time consuming but worth it. I took a trip down memory lane. All those messages!! Some of you should know that yes, I still had your emails. Alllll the bad and alllllll the good. Anyway, they are all gone now. I thought I needed a fresh start...and it's sort of nice!

Now I am able to keep it up and I don't regret losing all those old letters. I am at a different place in my life now and I don't miss the old me...I've changed over the past 5 years and seeing the old me in the inbox was scary.

One last thing...if I accidentally removed you, please write me and let me know.

I did the very same thing last week.

It's so amazing to be in a place where you can just accept who you are and love yourself.

I don't add anyone who doesn't participate on my blog..guess that makes me an Opera snob huh!

Heading out for coffee..wish you and Karen lived closer..coffeing alone just ain't right!

☜☞Sarah☜☞ 12. November 2009, 17:09

Have fun getting your coffee Tab. Have a cup for me as well, I can't taste it right now.

:coffee:

Mags 12. November 2009, 17:19

I did the same thing a few months ago, but now, I regret deleting my old messages. Sigh. Oh well, not much to be done about it now.

Is that your handwriting, Sarah?

Tab 12. November 2009, 17:25

I will Sarah...

Robert Jacobsen 12. November 2009, 17:26

I visit frequently. At least from your last post (which was the first to come after I subscribed to your blog )! :spock:

Why do you regret deleting the old messages? Or am I being too nosy? lol Well, I am moving forward asking God that I don't regret it. It was all trash...

No, not my handwriting...it's a font...a cute font. Mmm I'll post my handwriting one day.

☜☞Sarah☜☞ 12. November 2009, 17:31

Tab...oh...your far from an Opera snob. Just being careful and there isn't anything wrong with that.

Awesome! I am going to visit your blog and see about you.

Karen 12. November 2009, 17:45

How dare you remove me?!:irked:

Just teasin'. p:

I love the little graphic thingy you made, Cupcake! It's awesome. :D

I'm a freak about my Inbox. I only has one message in there and that's from Jon - the Opera creator. I just couldn't believe he wrote to me, so I saved it!

:sst:Amnith AKA Robert is a really awesome guy! You most definitely should add him.:yes:

Tab 12. November 2009, 17:51

Thanks Sarah....
It's true I am careful, I post a lot about my kids and these are often friends only. I just don't want stuff about my kids being public.

Mags 12. November 2009, 17:52

My frame of mind at that moment convinced me that alot of my messages were trash too. I think I was just reacting to a guilty conscience or a battle that was taking place in my head. :left:

I guess my point is that God loves us and meets us exactly where we're at at any given moment. We don't have to hide, or pretend to be something that we're not. I know at the time I was trying to erase a part of me. Silly when I think of it.

Moving forward though, I don't have to get involved in the same kind of talks. I still love those friends very much!!! They are very special to me and have helped me to become who I am today. For that, I am so very grateful!!!

I was thinking about doing this same thing sarah! weird. :left: All the same reasons too!

I tend to keep my pm box cleaned out. I don't like clutter

Must be a 30ish thing.

Dennis 14. November 2009, 03:02

I do have pics of me in my albums...

☜☞Sarah☜☞ 14. November 2009, 10:50

Oh, sorry Dennis. p:

Dennis 14. November 2009, 12:50

And none of them are nekkid pics! p:

Tyler Parke Young 14. November 2009, 22:56

Dennis is OK. He helped me with a tech problem last year and I didn't even know him at all.

I need to clear the decks on my own website, but I am sooooo lazy. I will get to it tho.... soon...

Tab 14. November 2009, 23:05

I don't know him, and he's helped me too!

Tyler Parke Young 14. November 2009, 23:15

I am a tech dummie sometimes!

Tab 14. November 2009, 23:59

I have great use for tech dummies..I'm currently trying to convince my own to marry me.

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 14:48

 :coffee:

Dennis 15. November 2009, 15:12

 Why does he need convincing? :coffee:

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 15:18

That one is easy! He is a man. :coffee:

Tab 15. November 2009, 15:25

After 4 years, he shouldn't need convincing...

Gotta go with he's a man!

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 15:28

Speaking as a Man myself, all I can say is that you will have to "shove" him. :jester:

Tab 15. November 2009, 15:53

How so?

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 16:01

It is the fear of taking that final step I guess.

Tab 15. November 2009, 16:16

I guess...I know it's harder for men, even if I can't understand why.
Men and women are just wired differently.

He's a geek..should be able to change his wiring

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 16:39

...tell me about it! My uncle does not think Men and Woman are different. He lives alone. (Not quite, but I am moving out soon enough.)

Tab 15. November 2009, 16:55

@ not quite

Got a place in mind?

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 16:57

I am going down to Columbus for the winter. Tomorrow I am talking to the housing comminsion, to get on the waiting list.

Tab 15. November 2009, 17:01

Good luck..I hope the waiting lists aren't like they are here. It's about a four year wait here

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 17:03

About two here, but I can jump the line a little because I am a veteran.

Tab 15. November 2009, 17:08

Well that's good...

at least somebody is doing something to help aid veterans.

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 17:20

Not as much as you would think. The US Gov. has a bad habit of making promises that they have no intentions of keeping.

Tab 15. November 2009, 17:58

I realize that..
You risk your life to protect freedom, then get shat on by the Nation you were willing to sacrifice everything for!

To bad they don't offer a civilian pension to provide for the majority of your survival needs

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 18:49

Once they don't need you, they don't care anymore.

Tab 15. November 2009, 20:29

That seems to be a common falicy...
Then they wonder why fewer and fewer men and women are signing up.

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 20:39

Young people who don't know the history.

Tab 15. November 2009, 22:28

It's funny how little young people know of Canadian history here, let alone global history.

Tyler Parke Young 15. November 2009, 23:35

All I know is: the Yukon gold rush, something about the British invasion, and the two times that the US invaded and got kicked back out. Not much.

Tab 16. November 2009, 00:27

 both Countries have very interesting hisories...My boyfriend is big on Canadian history and I just kinda absorb it through osmosis...lol

Tyler Parke Young 16. November 2009, 00:38

I don't think that they teach it in school anymore.
