This is an art I have tried earlier in life (failed miserably) but took another chance when I ran into a YouTube video describing how to make Challah bread by Expert Village. They have an excellent step by step video series that can guide even the most uneducated of bread making. (such as myself)

I then discovered that I could START MY OWN SOURDOUGH. Mmmm, who has ever had a delicious, chewy sour dough pretzel with big pieces of salt sprinkled on top lately? Talk about yum! The funny part of the whole ordeal was the progression of my pretzel making. Couldn't get it down.

First Attempt...something not quite right...


Second Attempt...Mmmmm no.


Third Attempt...Success!!


My Army of Pretzels, although not perfect...still good enough for kids to munch on.


The trick to getting them right is to watch 'how to videos' on YouTube.

So, I graduated to making braided Challah bread loaves for my mother's Shabbat meeting and loaves for home. It's a gratifying experience and 10 minutes of kneading bread gives opportunity to take out some frustration.

Bread for myself is a material question. Bread for my neighbor is a spiritual one. -Nikolai Berdyaev
