For the Love of Texas

, , ,

Hahahaha too good not to share.

"Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas ...

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Texas ;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas ;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas ;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas ;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas ;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas ;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas ;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas ;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas ;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas ;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas friends, you definitely live in Texas or at one time or another lived in Texas or have or hadTexas friends.

Admitting is the first step to recovery....

, , , ...

I hate to admit it, but I am a last minute type of person....I do everything at the last minute...from making appointments to calling people to wish them a happy birthday. I throw birthday parties at the last minute, I plan dinner parties at the last minute, buy groceries at the last minute, get dressed at the last minute, pay bills at the last minute! So here I am…the Friday before school starts….going today to buy school supplies AND the one million boxes of tissues that the schools ask for. What in the world do they do with all those boxes of tissues? We don’t even use half the amount that they ask for in ONE YEAR here at the house. When I say lots of tissues I mean lots of freaking Kleenex! They want 3 to 6 boxes for EACH CHILD! So figure, 4 boxes times 21 kids in the class…is 84 boxes of tissues!! What are they doing with all these boxes? Building onto the school or what?

Also I have issues with the millions of pencils that we have to buy. I think I have used at least 5 acres of forest purchasing pencils for my children. One of my girls sharpens her pencil over and over and over and over during the school day, starting with a new pencil in the beginning…ending with a nub.

With no eraser.

Because she chewed it off.

:sst: and the teacher doesn't stop her from doing that.

This year they want us to buy the twins ‘pocket dictionary/thesaurus’ Uhhh ok……..
Guess the budget didn’t allow for that this year? I take it? Ok.

I know that Cheryl of all people will understand. :cry:

I pray that admitting my problem might help me deal with it. Also today is my mother’s birthday but we have planned something for her on Sunday. Happy Birthday mom!

Well too much to do and too little ‘last minute’ time. p:

Sarah

:sst: about the Kleenex and pencils..these are the two things that are requested later in the school year over and over. That is the reason I chose those to bitch about. But I am not excluding paper, folders and crayons… they also ask for those. :faint: Oh well… the education is free…right? After taxes and school supplies and clothes and the pressure of giving them the right kind of ‘shoes’ and ‘backpacks’ and accessories…it’s free…right? Why am I complaining????
bye :D

Going to Camp (not me!) haha

, , , ...

The past couple of days we have been preparing to send off my oldest daughter to a wonderful camp in a state north of us. This is her first year to be going to this particular camp throwing her off a bit, but thankfully she had a close friend go with her. :up: The twins have been with their grandmother for the past month, also north of us, so now I am left with just one for the week! :eyes: I don’t think this has ever happened! :lol: Lucky me, but I feel a bit spoiled and feel like maybe I need to dig deep in the house for extra house work. ha!

So I braided her hair yesterday……took me about an hour to do her whole head.

Finished product.

Youngest playing a game of pool. It was so cute seeing her get a hang of the game! But …yes she beat me at pool. :lol:

This is one of the signs displayed at the teen hang out! HAHAHA!

I just wanted to add that this after school/weekend hangout for the teens is a wonderful program! They have 2 big screen televisions to play games on, 4 or 5 pool tables, (I think) 4 air hockey tables, a ‘diner’ area for the kids to buy food for CHEAP!, places to sit and read and relax, a stage with surround speakers for the kids to perform on and outside there is a huge basketball court with an elevated area to sit and watch the game. It is a wonderful program for teens that don’t have a safe place to go after school, or for teens that just want a fun place to hang out at.

On the weekend, they do have a police officer to watch over mostly to make the parents happy to know their kids are safe. But I have to say, yesterday I was really getting some ‘mean mug’ looks from some of the teen girls! :eyes: They are some mean looking girls! hahah but I just looked at them and smiled! :D lol (don’t even try it little girl) hahahah

Visiting yesterday made me want to volunteer there as well to help talk to some of these girls to keep them on the right path. It’s a great program. Anyway! It was fun hanging out for a while and I know I’ll go back to help in the future.
