new place, opera community, life, blog
Hi Everyone,
I hope that everything is fine and dandy with you guys. I am sitting here after a long and sweltering day in Texas. It was so hot and humid today that I just wanted to stay in all day. I didn't have that choice, we had to get a part for the van. (air conditioning belt of all things) Also, we had to take my youngest to Cheer-leading practice as usual. She is becoming a great cheerleader. None of the older 3 ever showed
any interest in cheering, so this is a refreshing change.

So...it seems we are well settled in our place. I have really had to force myself to get used to all the extra noise. Any of you apartment dwellers know well about that, I am sure. Going from practically living in the country to a busy setting like this is ...well blah at best. But I have a great positive attitude about it and plan on looking forward to making new friends.

Speaking of...when the hubby was on putting the belt on the engine, one guy approached and started to help. Then another...then
another! It was so cool to see complete strangers come and help him.

They didn't have the tools to help, but they did have their hands and experience.

Sad thing...he needs ONE certain tool to finish the job. I am sure you guys know how much it sucks to start a job and not be able to finish it. So he will be looking again tomorrow morning for that 'certain tool'. Good luck!
One of my best friends on the net...Karen...is in the process of moving. I wish you the best, bestie. I know how hard and stressful it is to move. Especially when you are scaling down in size of what you are used to. I sound really spoiled saying that, but it really isn't about being spoiled. I guess. I think it is more of a matter of being comfortable and your kids being comfortable.
Here are some shots of the place!
The pool area...
A little place to BBQ and picnic.
Awesome playground, especially for little ones.
Another shot of the playground with the beach volleyball and gazebo in the background. Need to get more pics.
Anyway, it's been fun and different and I just love the workout room.

I really wanted to share that with you guys but didn't want to appear as some creep going around shooting pictures.

This morning I got up full of energy and ready to take on the day. I hung out some laundry in mild weather and begun to already feel the exhaustion of my legs wanting to slow me down. They have been so weak since losing the feeling in the sides of them. I don't understand how that would affect the 'energy' or the 'spark' that makes your legs go. It is so hard to explain! I feel like someone without the ability to speak when it comes to describing how my legs feel....so frustrating. But still I managed to push through it continuing on with laundry and moving onto doing dishes and sweeping and mopping. All the while, feeling as if I was walking through sand.
So I started another load and was on the phone with the appliance people about bringing out another refrigerator. The old one that we had felt like it was shocking us when we grabbed the handle. It was sort of nice, kept us all out of there.

But I knew it wasn't all in my head...the appliance technician said that it was putting out 76 volts of electricity.

Just enough to 'feel' it. Meh. Out with the old and in with the new, I say!
2 hours later I was admiring my new refrigerator and thank God he hooked up the ice maker! Big C Appliance, your fast and professional. Thanks guys and lady who answers the phones and sets up appointments.
I made a decision to block an ex friend on Facebook. She knows why.

I refuse to let someone mistreat me time and time again. I don't appreciate the lies and I have kept quiet about it long enough. Those who chose to believe her
also need therapy. Yes you do, admit it.
Today also while checking Facebook, I saw my little brother Rhett. He isn't so little anymore. He is a big ole football player.

(this is the son of my step mother and deceased father) I remember Rhett as a small child. I will never forget what he said at my dad's funeral as all was quiet around and dad's casket was being lowered into the ground,
"I'm going to miss my daddy."
That sort of summed it up for me and I thought....yep....you just don't know how much little one.
Beyond that, I am looking forward to getting to know him better and I hope that he is open to knowing us as well.

Ok....Mariah (9) came over to me begging me not to play my BOOM BOOM music (by Black Eyed Peas) because she is trying to watch TV in my room.

Soooo I put on my head phones...and guess what my little precious girl does? Starts talking nonsense...LOUDLY! I heard her when my songs were changing... so I just turned the headphones up...way up.
That reminds me! Some little sneak erased all the music on my MP3 player.

I have a feeling it was my special girl...but who knows! I might of pissed one of the girls off and oops..songs all gone bye bye.
My husband and I started yesterday to spring clean the backyard with a little help of the girls. Turns out the wonderful mutt dog dug many holes in the backyard along with all her crap...it was a joy. So this morning hubby bought
thirty 40lb bags of top soil to fill holes and start the garden that we have been talking about since winter. I discussed this with a few friends of mine, and they said that it sounded like a good idea. NONE of them have ever had a garden before, so had no idea the work that would go into starting a garden for the first time. Even if it IS a very small one...
We were going to rent a cultivator, but figured since it was such a small area we would do it by hand, shovel...and hoe.

(don't worry I didn't do too much with my back injury)
It's not clear in the picture, but the garden is about 12 feet long and 4 or 5 feet across. This is a BEGINNER garden..we have
never tried this
ever before!

So we took a few vegetable seeds that the girls picked out and planted them. The only thing that is missing is lettuce and herbs...I am really going to add those soon and plant the tomatoes in a separate location. I am really so excited! I do hope that some things turn up! There is a family down the street that has a beautiful garden each year. The garden is about the size of our backyard!

They have such an abundance of veggies that most get discarded in the alley. Go get 'em kids!
Well...I would like to know if anyone else is starting a garden of any kind as well...

PS-You know what makes all hard work better? A yummy chocolate cupcake with sprinkles. It understands how tired I am, and I love that cupcake for that.

I am having a relatively quiet afternoon with all the kids in school. Last week at this time I was in child pose on the bed, praying to God to take the pain away. Now, I can breathe a sigh of relief and sit comfortably at the computer. Thank God! I have not had the opportunity to express myself in writing in what feels like years, so this feels so good to reconnect.
During the rain storms this weekend, the power was knocked out in my twin's school! But another school agreed to take them in, afternoons from 1 to 5. I can't imagine what is being learned in 4 hours, but GOOD LUCK teachers!

It was nice having the twins at home with me this morning. We had turkey bacon, eggs and toast with strawberry jam. They played around a bit and then I helped Angela with her hair, and off they went.

It was so quiet and peaceful with them...they are some of the most wonderful children that I know...handed to me by an Angel.
Lately, I have been getting a ton of crochet stuff done..
These are crochet flowers that I found on youtube...
