Cleaning my Blog...

, , ,

Oh wow...yesterday evening I started to delete people from my friend list that didn't have a user pic. (with the exception of H82typ aka Dennis, he has proven his validity and is a pretty cool guy) Deleting became addicting to me because I figured out a way to do with without leaving the edit page.

Instead of left clicking on "remove" IN EDIT PAGE I right clicked and chose 'open in background tab'. I went through each page (a total of 30 pages 39 people per page) and removed everyone that
a) I didn't know.
b) didn't comment on my page.
c) left My.Opera

I kept those that
a) I know visit but infrequently
b) visit frequently
c) are no longer active but have special meaning to me

So...after deleting those 'unfriends' I headed over to my Inbox. Oh Lord...I had messages from 2006 in there...over 5,000. Because of Opera allowing a check all feature, deleting was time consuming but worth it. I took a trip down memory lane. All those messages!! Some of you should know that yes, I still had your emails. Alllll the bad and alllllll the good. Anyway, they are all gone now. I thought I needed a fresh start...and it's sort of nice!

Now I am able to keep it up and I don't regret losing all those old letters. I am at a different place in my life now and I don't miss the old me...I've changed over the past 5 years and seeing the old me in the inbox was scary.

One last thing...if I accidentally removed you, please write me and let me know.

New Blogs....

, , ,

I have been really looking for new blogs to read here on My.Opera. I suppose what I am looking for has to catch my eye and be something that I am interested in. Some blogs are just so random and don't make sense to me. What are they about? The banner usually doesn't match the blog content. Some are so loud and busy that it makes my stomach turn. Yeah I am weird like that.

Guess what attracts me the most are theme blogs...you open it and know immediately what they are about! I wonder how many people I confuse with my own blog? Cupcakes? And it isn't about cupcakes?! hahaha!

BTW, I have subscribed to exactly 0 new blogs in the past month. :frown: I guess I am looking for something girlie and not too complicated!

Give a link if you find a blog that YOU find interesting!

Thanks

All I Need is Love, but a Fluffy White Donut Wouldn't Hurt Either

, , , ...

Yesterday my husband went 200 miles out of town to find work. There just anything here that would fit his pay range! I mean, there are jobs alright, but paying one third of what he makes right now. We are living off of his unemployment and government assistance. I don't consider MY FAMILY the failure, I consider big businesses the failure!

If it wasn't for big business making terrible decisions then we wouldn't be in this predicament right now. My family around me is in no position to help us, either. They are also struggling to pay bills and keep food in the house. It has never been easy raising 4 girls but this time is different. When you are accustomed to a certain lifestyle then the slightest change can really hurt.

So, my best life is lived just here on the net. I play FarmTown and Yoville in Facebook and it is a life that I wish I could live. Games are games. A pathetic comparison to real life. These 'real life' games are not real life at all. They are fantasy. There might as well be zombies and vampires running around on the farm.

On an upside about the economy. It is teaching us to be even more frugal than we were before. We are actually eating healthier and in smaller portions. Too bad my body likes it's fat. :frown:

I talked to my husband's ex boss yesterday. He was encouraging us to stay here because he is getting into another business that he wants my husband to join him in. Let's hope it happens soon! *fingers crossed*

Oh! I totally forgot...I have decided to cut the carbs way out of my diet. Wellllllllll this morning I was making my coffee and saw some of those little powdered donuts on the counter. I picked up one, nonchalantly, and chewed it. Mmm sort of thickish. Sort of powdery. Sort of...ewww. What is that layer of slime it is leaving on the roof of my mouth? It felt like I had taken shortening straight from the can and licked it like icing. :yuck: I didn't even bother reading the package from fear of knowing the truth.

Despite the stickiness, I pinched another bit and put it in my mouth. The sugar was calling my name. I fell under the weakness of the fluffy little powdered donut.

Someone asked me about my knitting yesterday. I just realized, I have totally abandoned that hobby. Maybe I will take it back up when I am 70. Right now I have to concentrate on other things, like cutting carbs.

Mother's Day 2009

, , , ...

Dear Girls,

Thanks so much for the wonderful Mother's Day that you have given me. I especially loved the little flowers that you girls made me while in school.

Child #1...You gave me your hand prints with the splatter paint that you did in art class at school. I love it and it is hanging beside my desk. What I remember most about you today is you making breakfast for the girls so that I wouldn't have to do it. What a doll you are!! Thank you dear!

Child #2, You gave me a beautiful red flower and a red, white and green one as well. It reminded me of the Mexican Flag  but it was super cute, honey. I love it. What I remember most about you today is doing your hair this morning before church and how cute it was flipped up. That was a fun bonding time with you honey.

Child #3, You amaze me with your flower making skillz baby! Yeah! Hahaha It was white and just adorable. What I remember most about today with you coming in from church and telling me you lost your pearl necklace. It had matching earrings and you usually always wore it on Sunday. I hope that we find it soon, but if not...then oh well!

Child #4. Hey doll cheeks...Thanks for all the cool little flowers that you made me at school. They were wrapped around pencils with that piping stuff...Ugh forgot the name. :D Anyway...so cute! You also made me a card with your very own hands, my love. What a sweetie you are my dear. What I remember most about today with you is (oddly) when you came into my room and sat down and watched TV in your cute princess dress. You looked so sweet sitting there with your dress fluffing all around you.

Thank you hubby for taking the girls out to buy the flowers and the card. I love them so much. I wish I could keep the flowers forever, they are so pretty and yellow and white. Love you all and thanks for the wonderful day. It has been so relaxing! Oh and thanks for dinner, honey. The shrimp alfredo was really top notch.
